We are going to Disney World in September. For the past 2 days we have been trying to get a DAS pass for our adult son who has autism. We started at 7:00 in the morning when it first started and waited 2 hours both times until we had to give up to take care of our son who started to melt down. We called Disney directly and left an email as well. I thought the purpose of DAS was to make a trip to Disney less stressful for people with challenges. Is there any advice that anyone can give us that can make this less stressful? We live in a small apartment in New York so trying to keep him occupied in a room is really not an option.

:welcome: to DISboards!

He can be in another room if that helps. Then when you do get connected you can call him to join you or take your device to him.

I would guess that weekends are busier than weekdays, if you are able to try to connect sometime during the week it may be a shorter wait. If going at a very popular time (holiday, school vacation week, special event, etc.) there are going to be more people trying to connect for DAS. If worse comes to worst and you can't connect in advance, as PP mentions when you try onsite you get bumped to the front of the line for a short wait.

Well, not exactly. The purpose of DAS is to make the attractions accessible for an individual who cannot wait in a standard queue environment. The visit may or may not be more or less stressful depending on many factors -- the individual, the party, the crowds, the weather, various other situations that may occur throughout the day. I do recommend having some alternative "accommodations" of your own to help your son, as well as having a back-up plan if DAS is denied.
