After our first trip linky, and the way that we got so unexpectedly 'Disney-ed', we knew we would be going back. It was a matter of when, with having to save for other holidays, work on the house, etc. Anyhow, after a lot of hard work last year, work repaid my hard work and the amount of time I spent away from my wife and boys with a little bonus
We instantly knew what we would spend some of the money! So we booked three days at Santa Fe, and managed to get the free dining as well! The free dining really does help, as we knew how much food costs from last time. We booked flights with Flybe, and a shared transfer with RS Transports. Our boys (10 and 6) had the holiday for Christmas of us, and I think we out did Santa this year!
Day One.
So, come the 15th, we got up at 3am (Urk!) and drove to Birmingham Airport. Parked up, checked in and onto the plane. One flight later, and we're in Paris CDG. Trouble is, no RS Transports taxi! One phonecall later, and I'm told they are stuck in traffic, and will be there, 45 minutes late! As I had booked a shared taxi, I was expecting a delay of upto 30 minutes, but I suppose you cannot account for traffic. 50 minutes later, and the Taxi turns up, just as the family sharing our taxi come to the collection point. So much for delayed in traffic!! A bit unimpressed with being lied to by the company.
When we got to Santa Fe, my wife checked us in whilst the boys went and had there photos taken with Pluto, and then Mickey! 5 Minutes and the disney affect is under way, with two smiling boys. We were told that for 24, we could check in early to our room. We went for this, as we could freshen up, and see what our room was like. All was fine with the room, so we headed of to the park. The park was nice and busy, with smiling faces everywhere. We were also glad to be wearing our thermals, and the boys their snow trousers, as it was quite chilly (0C) but dry.
First stop was Buzz's laser blast, which is a family favourite, to be greeted with a 50 minute queue. Oh well, one fast pass later and we are off to grab a bite to eat. We decided to use the lunch vouchers on the 2nd and 3rd days, so we went and got sandwiches from the shop in Main Street, where we discovered the 'free hot drink voucher' on our receipts. After that, we did a quick round of Star Tours, POTC, Buzz, Indiana Jones, Adventure Island. We caught Minnies parade as well as the main Parade.
We were feeling a little tired by now, so we headed off to Annette's. We only waited about 15 mins, which is pretty good for 7pm, and we had a good meal. The boys were quite taken by the frisbee's that they serve the food in for kids, and the singing and dancing routine was really good, and had us all smiling. Our eldest liked it so much he bought himself a Pin to go with his collection. Got back to the hotel and crashed out, all of us very tired, but very, very happy to be getting our Disney magic!
Day Two.
Up early, ready for breakfast at 7am (Urk, again!) Remembering the scrum at Cheyanne, I was braced for the worst, but breakfast on both days was fine. We headed off to Disneyland for early magic hours in the park. First port of call was Buzz again, followed by Space mountain for me and my eldest. The queue was supposed to be 15 minutes long, but ended up being 45 due to 'technical difficulties'.
After that, we headed to Walt Disney Studios. We all really wanted to go on Crushes Coaster, but it was closed due to 'technical difficulties' Nevermind, of to the tram tour, but guess what? Yep 'technical difficulties' again. Our youngest said that he wanted to go on his first 'big' roller coaster, and he was big enough for Rock and Roller Coaster. One short queue later, and he's sat with me, screaming 'awesome, woohoo!' as we shoot off into the ride! My eldest was chuffed as he got the front seat to himself, a very big boy thing to do! After this we all went into Armageddon, and then over to Stitch Live, which was excellent, and very, very, very, etc (if you've seen the show, you'll get it) good!
We then went to Blockbuster Cafe, and grabbed a table in the POTC area. The free dining voucher got the boys sandwiches, crisps, drink and a Mickey shaped muffin, whilst we got Croque Monsiuers (sp?), crisps, drink and a Mickey Brioche. Even better, the boys met Captain Jack, who came to visit!
After dinner we went to see Animagique, another family favourite. It was after we came out that we noticed that Crushes coaster was open, with a 90 minute queue. We joined as we had to have go. After only an hour, we were on and enjoying the ride. We were really lucky, as just before we got back to the harbour, the ride had 'technical difficulties', and we had to be helped off the ride! Still a good ride though. After this we headed back to Disneyland to see the parade at 5pm, and managed to get the best view of the parades we ever have. We all got a really good view of where Woody and Jessie got off the float and did a dance. Really good! Did a bit of shopping, and then headed to Cafe Mickey for our 7pm reservation. Cafe Mickey was good linky, especially seeing our youngest up and dancing on the bar along with chip, and our eldest doing air guitar with Smee!! Really good fun! My youngest was obvioulsy feeling very happy, as he gave me a full on 'I love you, Dad'
which is a sure fire way to give Dad a wobbly bottom lip!
After this wonderful long day, it was back to the hotel, and a nice sleep.
Day Three.
Last Day
Up early again, and into Disneyland. Another go on Buzz, and then off to Peter Pan. We queued for 45mins until we had 'Technical Difficulties' and so decided to head for Thunder Mountain. The queue was 35 mins, but in the cold seemed longer, still the ride got the heart pumping! We then headed off to see Mickey's Magical Winter Wonderland show, which was excellent, and got us back into the Christmas feeling again. We headed off to POTC, and bumped into Woody, Pluto, Baloo and King Louie on the way! It was now that our youngest had a milk tooth fall out! No drama, and with the complete logic of a 6 year old, said it was a shame that it did not happen the day before, as instead of the tooth-fairy bringing a £1 coin, it would have been Tinkerbell bringing a 1! We wrapped the tooth up safe and headed of to look around the castle, where we visited the dragon, and had a look at the expensive stuff. We then had a late lunch at Fuente del oro linky and then headed for a small world. This was the last ride we went on, and we walked sadly out of the park. It was 5pm at this time, so Main Street was lined with people. However, we asked a CM to take a picture of all 4 of us, with the Castle behind us, and the people lining the street, which she did. The picture came out great, even if we did all have 'hat-hair'! With one last look down Main Street and the castle, we headed off to the Hotel, and collected our bags. RS transports turned up, only 10 minutes late
, and we headed off to the Airport, and home.
We had a great time, and topped up our Disney feeling again. We had such a good time, and have some good memories. I really hope we can go again!
One funny thing though, is that next morning, our youngest shouted 'Mommy, Daddy, Tinkerbell has been!' and had left him a shiny euro for his next holiday!
