We had 11 people on our trip with 7 total DDPs and one toddler. The others were in separate rooms and did not stay the whole week. We asked DVC if we could share some our credits at Chef Mickey's one night and they said it would not be a problem but we went prepared to pay OOP for the extra people. I tried to keep track of receipts but it got hard with our party splitting up sometimes.
9/23 Chef Mickey's dinner buffet. We loved it as usual. For 7 adults and 2 children the cost would have been $276. We used 9 credits.
9/24 We used 6 CS credits (the kids shared). The OOP cost would have been $68. We also used 2 snacks for a large bag of fritos and a jar of salsa from the food court at SSR. For dinner we went to Kona Cafe and used 6 TS credits. Our meal would have cost $214. My dad did not use his credit and instead ordered a kids meal and paid OOP. My DH also joined us this night and shared my entree but ordered his own appetizer. The OOP portion of our bill cost $19 ( I also used the DDE card). I liked my meal(beef teriyaki and the chowder), but I think it was disappointing overall for the family. Service was very slow. Later that night at MK, we used 8 snack credits (I think) for dole whips, etc.
9/25 We used 14 CS credits between the waterpark and SSR food court. The food at the waterpark was okay although the kids did enjoy the mickey ice cream bars that came with the adult meals. I ordered pizza at the food court and shared it with my dd and still got so full that I took the dessert back to the room.
9/26 Some of us went to the Turf Club at SSR. We used 3 TS credits (2 adult, one child). We also ordered a burger and another kids meal (for the toddler) OOP. We were very impressed here. We were allowed to order a non-alcoholic frozen drink with our meal and the appetizers and entree portions were huge. I shared my dessert with my mom. The apple pie was delicious. My dd had the make your own sundae dessert and had fun with it. My ds ordered the fruit plate which we all helped him eat. My dh and I both had steaks, which were supposed to be 10 oz but had to have been larger. My dm helped me with my meal and took my caesar salad which she thought was great. We waddled out feeling very full. The cost would have been $100. Paid $22 for the OOP portion and left the server extra tip b/c he was so great. We took most of a burger, half of a steak and one dessert back to the room and had it the next day. The rest of the family went to DTD and ate counter service at wolfgang express. I don't think they were impressed but I don't know what they had.
9/27 We used several snacks at MGM. We also used 6 credits at Hollywood and Vine for breakfast. It would have cost $147. We really enjoyed the meal since the kids really had fun with the Little Einsteins and JoJo. They did somehow charge us one too many credits but our hotel took care of it when we caught it a couple of days later. That night we all went to the Turf Club again. It wasn't as good as the night before and we were disappointed. We used all 7 credits and would have paid $237 OOP. We did order a burger, appetizer and kid's meal OOP. The server said the kids could not get the make your own sundae on this night so DDP is applied differently depending on your server.
9/28 We used 6 credits at Flame Tree BBQ at AK. That night we used 5 more CS credits at MK while my brother and his wife used 4 TS credits at Artist Point. Their meal would have cost $120. We also used some snack credits that morning at AK for breakfast of sticky buns, cinammon rolls and fruit. It was very good.
9/29 We had breakfast at Chef Mickeys. We used a total of 7 credits. I didn't get the cost of the meal OOP. We ate dinner at Le Cellier and used 7 credits. The meal would have cost $302. We were allowed to order a frozen drink with the meal. We were not impressed with our appetizers but the maple glaze filet was wonderful as were the desserts.
9/30 We used 7 CS credits at AKL foodcourt for lunch. It was still too much food and we ended up too full.
We used up some remaining CS credits on kids meals of the PB&J sandwiches and brought them home for the kids (dd ate one for dinner tonight). I know we used some snack credits throughout the week. SSR food court has a great selection for snacks as you can get a half gallon of milk or a loaf of bread. We should have used more snack credits at the beginning of the week since we ended up with 12 on the last day and just bought stuff to take home. We didn't like to use the credits on anything that cost less than $3. I enjoyed the DDP but it was too much food. My dad and sister stayed confused about it and I usually ordered for them. Because the kids belonged to different parents, and since we split up some of the time, it was difficult to keep track of how many kids credits had been used but I don't think we used any kid credits for adult meals. We did tip extra if we felt a server was really good. I did ask one server about the tip and he told me that he receives 18% of the meal on his paycheck and that he does like the DDP. The front desk told me the main complaint with the plan is that it's too much food. Our total DDP cost was $1483.51 and the OOP cost of the meals we ordered would have been $1658.59. That total includes all of our TS meals but is missing a lot of CS meals and most snacks. We would not have spent that much without the plan as we would not have eaten out so much. We also did share some which helped since we're not used to eating that much at one meal. I'm not sure if I'll do it again or not since it made us feel we had to keep our reservations or lose TS credits since it was hard to get into restaurants during our stay. Our overall experience with it was good. Each place treats it differently. One CM told us to choose a bottled drink at the food court and another told us to get a fountain drink. At AKL food court, the CM was very lenient. I had planned to use a snack credit to buy fries but she told me they went with the pizza and told me I could get anything out under $4 for my other side item. It's best to ask at each place about what to order.
On a side note, most of our reservations for the whole group were for 2 tables since they didn't have 1 table to fit us all. However, everytime we all ate together, they put us at one table which was really nice for our family.
