Hi!

My DH and I just returned from a 4-night stay at Pop Century and loved this resort! Last fall we booked a 4-day cruise on the Wonder. Around Christmas I decided to surprise my DH with a stay at WDW prior to the cruise. While I could have used our DVC points to stay at a DVC resort, I thought it might be fun to try out Pop-- and I wasn't disappointed!

We arrived late on a Thursday evening (about 11:45pm) and had no wait at all at check-in. A very friendly CM helped us (oh dear, I can't remember her name, but she was from Georgia) and gave us lots of pixie dust to start our trip. We were assigned to the 50's building A (Lady), 4th floor (1432).

After browsing through the lobby at the memorabilia displays (loved the My Little Ponies) we headed for our room. After reading about the parking crunch, I was a bit nervous, but we lucked out our first night and was able to park right by the building. Other nights we had to drive around a bit, but eventually were able to park in the 50's/60's lot. A quick walk and we were in the elevator going to the 4th floor. Our room faced the check-in area, so we could hear the lobby music from the walkway. However, once inside the room it was very quiet.

We were pleasantly surprised with the decor! Loved the bedspreads and the Mickey Mouse Club poster with the various memorabilia. We had plenty of room for 2 people! We were impressed with the 27" TV and cabinet with all the drawers. Sink and bathroom area were quite clean and about as spacious as we've found in the moderates (minus the 2nd sink and hairdryer). To be honest, we didn't find much difference between this room and our room at Port Orleans several years ago.

The next morning we walked over to Everything Pop for breakfast. It was really a very short walk-- we felt as close as some of the 60's buildings. Even though it was chilly, kids were already in the Bowling Pin pool and the Hippy Dippy pool. Loved the screens at the food area showing each entree! I had Mickey waffles with strawberries while my DH opted for the more grown-up Western omlette. Yum to both! During our stay, we also had dinner one night (meatball subs and chips with Twinkie Tiramisu for dessert-- all yummy as well!).

Our building was also pretty near laundry facilities at the Bowling Pin pool-- cost was comparable to laundires back home in MA and worked just fine (we ran a couple loads prior to the cruise).

I won't drone on with more details in this message, but let me know if you have any questions. We had a wonderful stay and will be back in October for a couple of nights when we come back to WDW with our families (then on to Saratoga Springs . . .)

So glad you had a great time! Thanks for sharing your trip with us!

That was a wonderful report and I do have a question!

I just read on another thread that building A is a smoking optional building. I had requested building A through our travel agent when she booked our package. Now I am fretting...my family is fraught with allergies. Did you notice any smoke smell or such during your visit??!! I suppose I should change it just to be safe.

Thanks for your help,

E.:sunny:

Building 1 (50's A) may have some smoking optional blocks, but that doesn't mean the entire building is a smoking building.

(A block is a group of 12 rooms on a wing.)

Thanks Tyler for the quick response...I think we will hold steady and see what we get. Can't wait!:hyper:

I got on here looking for just this kind of information. We are trying to plan a trip for late July and was wondering how nice the Value Resorts were. Thank you so much for sharing.:earseek:

:jumping2: WELCOME TO THE DIS bsdmhutch! :jumping2:

Thanks for the post EeyoreJMH! It is great to hear some positive reviews about Pop! I can't wait! :hyper:

Hi famfab5!

We were in a non-smoking room and could not smell any smoking odor at all. I, too, have severe allergies to smoke and was just fine :-)

I'm glad some found this report helpful :-) I've never submitted one before and was a bit nervous it was too long . . . :-)

When it comes to information about Disney, I bet most would agree that it can't ever be too long
