I booked all of our ADR's for August for 5 people (3 adults and 2 children (one under 2). Our nephew has just decided to join us on the trip. We will now be 6 people (4 adults and 2 children (one under 2). Do I need to rebook all the ADRs or can we just show up with 6 instead of 5?

Definetly rebook. And good luck with that. My niece decided she wanted to join us on our trip and I couldn't adjust our ADR's to make that happen. But if you arrive with more than you reserved for, they can refuse seating if they don't have a table big enough. So be prepared to do some switching around of your ADR's if you are adding a person.

I would say it is not a problem. Almost all restaurant tables are designed for an even number of people. So if you had reservations for five it you would be seated at a table designed for six anyway.

The only time at WDW I have ever seen a table for five was at Chefs and they tried to seat us at a table for four with an extra place setting at the end sticking into an aisle.

Try adding your nephew to your reservations. If you can't, say "Thank you", then hang up and bring him with you anyway.

A few years ago, my brother and his then-GF and their respective kids were at WDW the same time I was. Five of them, one of me. He tried calling to add me to their Chef Mickey's reservation and was told the only time available for a party of six was somewhere in the vicinity of 9:30 PM - not the 5:30 for their original reservation, and much too late for the kids. So they kept their original reservation and I didn't go. Yep, they ended up seated at a table for six.

we did this last year not once but twice for 9 days of dining:furious:

1st just my family was going ....

then my db was going with his 3 kids had to change and make it more kid friendly adr's (my kids are teens and they have been there done that) this was my neice and nephews first time so we had to do more kid friendly.

then dad past away so we didn't want mom staying home by herself so
we invited her had to change again....\

disney is very accomadating the only adr i couldn't change was lecelliar steak house we were a party of 8 but needed a party of 9 so we cancled that one
I guess i could have walked in and said we need to add one more person but
we chose not to do that especially knowing how crowded that restruant is anyway i thought we would be pushing it.

a lot of times when making an adr they will tell you they don't have a table for *** so they will break up the tables (we were usually table of 6 and 3 or 5 and 4 ) BUT we always sat together
never were we apart (but by the end of that week ....it wouldn't of been that bad :rotfl2: )

I would play it safe and call. In August last year when I first made my ADR's it was just me and my two kids. My Aunt and cousin decided to come so I called to change my ADR's. They could not accommodate one of my ressies so we had to switch to another place.

Trips are stressful as it is, why stress it out more by possibly not getting in.

I would call also. In most cases they will be very accomodating. But occasionally they may not have the room for that one extra that is added in your group....better to know ahead of time then when you walk in.

I had to change some of my reservations from 6 to 7 and viceversa, due to my MIL changing the dates she was joining us. The restaurants have different types of tables. Some are for 5 or 6, a few were for 6 or 7, some 7 or 8. When switching from 6 to 7 and back with the places we had a table for 6 or 7, all that the CM had to do was change the number of people on the reservation, everything else stayed the same. At the places that we had a table that seats 5 or 6 or 7 or 8, we had to cancel and make a whole new reservation. Most of the restaurants had tables for 5/6 and 7/8, so most of my reservations had to change (good news for you though since you are going from 5 to 6.) The only places I had tables for 6/7 were Jiko, Boma, and Princess Storybook. I'd call and change what I can and keep the ones I couldn't change and hope they will accomodate you when you arrive.
