We're leavng for WDW tomorrow! I hope to do a relatively LIVE report, since I'm absolutely terrible at writing reports once I return, despite my best intentions. I have a very snazzy new phone that should assist in this endeavor, should I be capable of rising to the technological challenge (I have my doubts, but I've been practicing for this very purpose for the last 5 days).

Who:

We are the iloveeeyore/MainStreetFireman 'ohana:
Me (43) aka Jasmine
DH (46) aka Aladdin
DD (turning 16 on the trip) aka Belle
DS (13) aka Hercules

Where/when:

The Poly 7/29-8/5
AKL CL 8/5-8/9

How:

Well, we've been saving for this vacation since our last trip in April, 2008. We purchased all elements of the trip a la carte, because we got a great exclusive room-only rate through a TA. Bought the 10-day MYW tickets through Undercover Tourist and will upgrade 1 to an AP so we can take advantage of Tables in Wonderland (no DDP with the RO rate)... But that's not really what I meant by "how."

I meant suburban private taxi service to the airport. JetBlue direct from our small county airport to MCO, ME to the Poly...ME back to MCO from AKL. We haven't figured out what we plan to do on resort transfer day, yet. There are lots of options. Leisurely morning at the Poly and enjoy the volcano pool, then take a taxi to the AKL? Check out of Poly early and into AKL early? Check out of Poly early and Rope drop at AK? I'll let you know when it happens. We'll probably decide that morning; some things just can't be planned.

What:

We'll be reviewing our experiences with:
JetBlue
ME
the Poly
AKL CL
all 4 theme parks (multiple times)
Typhoon Lagoon
"other" TBD - DTD? Mini Golf? Watercraft? (Aladdin insists I still call them water mice)
Disney transportation - monorail, boat, buses

I have done a dining pre-trip report on the dining review board, but I'll list our TS dining choices again here (all are dinners except where indicated):
Chef Mickey's
Les Chefs de France (lunch)
San Angel Inn
Kona Cafe
California Grill
Coral Reef
'Ohana
CRT (lunch)
HDDR
Sanaa
Wanayama Safari (Jiko)
50's Prime Time Cafe (lunch)
Flying Fish Cafe
Sunrise Safari (buffet breakfast at Tusker House)
Boma

We'll also have more than a dozen CS meals, and (hopefully) Ghirardelli Sundaes!

It's not my intention to tell you all the details about our vacation. For the most part, my updates will be brief (they'll have to be, I'm not so good at typing on my phone). I do hope to share our basic experiences and answer some FAQ's in terms of how things worked out on one particular day for one particular family. For example, I probably won't tell you the name of our bus driver and the funny jokes he told, but I do hope to give you an idea how long it takes to get from, say, the Poly to DHS before rope drop. I hope to take a LOT of pics, some of which will be shared live, but most of which will be added later (from my camera).

Please let me know if you have any specific questions about any of the above-listed to-be-reviewed items. I would be delighted to seek the answer for you when we're there.

Thanks for reading. Aloha!

Can you pls find out if you can order lunch items at dinner at Kona please? Have a wonderful trip!

Absolutely! Are there any lunch items you are particularly interested in (just in case the answer is some yes, some no)?

We'll be celebrating our DD's 16th birthday on our trip in December - and also have been saving for several years for it. Can't wait to hear about your trip!

I am on board, this is just what the Doctor ordered because I have 17 days to get through until I am in my happy place(insert smiley in the fetal position, sucking their thumb):lmao:

Thanks for reading everyone! I can't believe how quickly our time of anticipation went. I love the anticipation!

Awesome day so far.

Car picked us up at 4:45 and we were at Westchester County Airport by 5:15. I had printed the boarding passes yesterday so we just needed to check the 3 bags which took less than 5 minutes. We as our breakfast which Aladdin and Hercules got a the neighborhood deli and then went through security which was a breeze. We were on the plane at 6 for the 6:30 flight, but took off 12 minutes late due to "congestion in the area." Still landed 19 minutes early at 8:50. After a quick restroom break we made if to the ME line by 9:15.

There were no buses there when we arrived. Not one! But none of the lines were long. More later, gtg!

I'm on board!

Welcome everyone and thanks for reading! We left at 4:45 am. I woke up at 3, not because I really had to but because i was way too excited to sleep! The rest of the family wasn't far behind!

Perfect ! - DGrD and I will be staying at Poly for the first time in Dec. - and I'm thinking of taking 2DNephs 1DNiece and DGrD to WDW this same week next year. I always swore I'd never return mid-summer - so I will love hearing how the heat and crowds go for you - and whether or not the parks are still overrun by tour groups. So thanks for reporting - and ENJOY!!

Back at ME 9:15 am. Several lines but no buses. The first bus came a few minutes later and a bunch came in a row. They seemed to toad the lines in order from longest to shortest. Seemed very well organized. Our line was for all MK resorts. When we boarded our bus at 9:32, the driver said first stop would be Poly, followed by GF, WL, then finally CR/BLT. We arrived at the Poly by 10:10.

We went straight to the on-line check-in line, where we were welcomed with leis and alohas. We were given our packet which included happy anniversary buttons for Aladdin and me and a birthday button for Belle. We were laughing about poor Hercules getting no button, and they immediately gave him an "I'm celebrating" button. Very sweet!

Our room wasn't ready but we were told it was in Samoa. I asked if it would be on the volcano pool side 3rd floor and our CM said yes! That's when we started bouncing! Requests met! He said the room probably wouldn't be ready until 3. We requested a text message when ready. It took a total of 5 minutes to check in. We were done by 10:15.
