Our Not So Merry Disney Vaca

I'm really enjoying you trip report and congratulations on the engagement! That is a long time to plan a wedding! I didn't know there were so many characters in the Char. Connecton at Epcot now. We went in there three trips ago and saw Mickey and Minnie, Goofy and Chip and Dale I believe.

We're going to be at Coronado Springs this Dec. so I always enjoy other people's reviews of the resort. What were the dates of your trip?

You're doing a great job!

Steph,
Congratulations!! what a beautiful way to become engaged, sigh....
I am enjoying reading your report and keeping my fingers crossed that you start to feel better soon.
I was trying to think who you look like and I do believe Jennifer Gardner the actress, very pretty.
Thanks for taking the time to share your trip.

It is a long time to plan, but we decided on 2012 as my dad has not been well and recently underwent major surgery. So I am giving him a year or so to get over that and then a little bit longer after, as I want him to be there and I want him to take as much time getting better as possible so that he will be able to have the shots for South Africa.

We were in WDW from 2nd Dec til 16th. I must admit that our impression of the resort is not good, but that might be down to the fact that it was just so busy very overcrowded (we were told all resorts were at 95% capacity). If we were to go at a quieter time I am sure it would be alot better as staff would have more time for you, although we did meet one guy (Les) and he was really great, took us anywhere we wanted to go on the resort cart and spent time talking and getting to know us. Hope you have a great time though :)

Day 4

Still wasn't feeling great, but I perked up a bit as today was my one and only shopping day. We went to Mall at Millenia and Prime Outlets.

Didn't spend as much time in MaM as shops were a bit pricy, what with the pound being so weak against the dollar. But I did get what I went for there, my first pair of Uggs, which I love :cloud9: Had to take pics of my fav shops though :D

We were a bit peckish and decided to grab a bite to eat, scoped out the foodcourt and picked out something from Chinatown. They have the best honey sesame chicken which was yumma :D

We went on to Prime Outlets, where Dave cleaned out the Calvin Klein store with jeans and Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger for shirts/t-shirts. I bought some cute wristlets from Coach which some girls at home were raving on about so I thought I would check them out.

After shopping (Dave was starting to get a bit whingy, although I'll give him his dues he didn't complain once for the first 4hrs) we headed back to the resort, whereupon we came across a naughty Stitch, I will let the pictures explain :stitch:

Watching the Disney Channel of course  popcorn::

After a mini siesta we headed on over to the Polynesian for dinner at Ohanas'. Went from MK and took the monorail (first time we have ridden on this). Waited about three monorail stops to sit at the front, was pretty cool but would have been better during the day. Pictures didn't come out v well though, so won't post those.

We love love love the Poly and were excited to try out Ohana's as it has been given rave reviews on the Dis. We were seated at an awkward table right on the edge where everybody walks and it felt like we were in the middle of the room. Food was fantastic, Dave polished off the dumplings in about 5 seconds (lil piglet ), I very nearly polished off the wings, which were very good (love fried chicken esp bbq wings). The meat was great, the steak was my fav as it was very tender and melted in the mouth. We also ordered Pina Colava's which were yumma, could so get hooked on those! One thing I wasn't keen on was the fact that we had our noodles way way way before the meat arrived, so ended up with hot meat and cold noodles, which I do not think is a very good combination. Can't remember the dessert, but I think Dave ate it. The entertainment sounded cool (I say sounded because we never saw anything), heard two different songs.

Well I must admit, I picked out the ring out so I knew it was coming ;), I just didn't know when.

Day 5

Today was Hollywood Studios day, we were both looking forward to riding Rockin Rollercoaster (is our fav ride). We arrived pretty early for EMH and could not believe the amount of people queuing/walking to get in :confused3 so we sat down on a bench to let the throngs go through (hate trying to fight my way, its like swimming against the current) and so I could eat my yummy cherry danish :D

IMG_2567.jpg

We got a few PP pics done, which was fun and then made our way over to TSM. OMG we could not believe our eyes, the whole of Pixar Street was just overloaded with people, we couldn't even get near the FP machines. So we headed on over the RnR instead to get a fast pass. Dave wanted to catch the Jedi Training Academy so we went on over and found a not bad spot. The show was pretty cool, there was this one little guy who kept getting everything wrong, was soo cute Vada was pretty cool too. Afterwards we queued up for the Darth Vadar PP pic, it was all Dave though and he looked like he was having fun, except for the part where he stabbed me at the end  He was supposed to be saving me, guess he went over to the dark side (sorry bad joke I know).

After Jedi Training, we decided to try out The Magic of Disney which was pretty cool, love the part with Mushu, v funny :D Afterwards we went into the character spot and got a pic with Sorcerer Mickey, which was pretty cool. The Bolt characters were there and also the Incredibles queued up but it was just too long and we were getting hungry again. So ended up leaving. We ended up going to Toy Story Pizza Planet, was quite yummy and did the job :D Then we took some PP pics next to the Muppet Fountain and then went on in to Muppets 3D, line was pretty small which wasn't too bad. The show is pretty cool and I loved the Marley brothers :D

I am gonna have to carry on with part 2 later as I gotta go to work, but stay tuned as we have a photoshoot, The Tambu Lounge and Kona Kafe.

Speak to you all soon.

Stef & Dave

Great pictures! It's just so nuts over by Toy Story in the mornings. I think we stopped to get lots of PP shots, too, and then went to get a fast pass. Rock N' Roller Coaster is my favorite ride of all the parks, so as long as I get to ride it, everything is good!

I'm so bummed that I didn't get to ride Rock N' Roller Coaster this year. I didn't get to ride it last year either. That's like one of my most favorite roller coasters of all time - the way it pulls your skin back from your face when you take off and pushes you back in your seat is awesome!

Great TR! You 2 make an adorable couple! Your pp pics are great!

Day 5 continued...

After Hollywood Studios we went over to the Poly for our photoshoot. We had so much fun, our photographer took over 100 pics, in loads of different locations. I can't show too many as we need to touch some of them up, but have put some of the good ones below. We chose the last appointment of the day as we were told this was the best time as the sun wasn't too much of a problem and the photographer spends a bit more time on you.

The locations were, outside near the entrance, outside going towards the rooms on the bridge, the beach, the swing bench, the hammock, the area near the Luau with the twisty looking tree and on the grass near the Luau.

We are defo going to do another shoot next year, am thinking Wilderness Lodge as we did the tropical scene, maybe something woodsy this time.

After the shoot we went to the Tambu Lounge to sit and relax before our reservation at Kona Kafe. Sat at the bar and ordered cocktails. Dave ordered a Sunken Treasure and I got another Pina Colava. We could have sat there all day but those cocktails are a tad pricy, not to mention strong.

We got buzzed for our reservation and were seated. We were looking forward to Kona as we loved it so much last year, esp the wings :D We both ordered the beef teriyaki which was ok, ended up leaving as the place was heaving and we were beat from the shoot. We didn't take any pics of the food though, sorry.

Next up Animal Kingdom and Backstage Safari.

Hi. Great Report. Can't wait to read about the rest of the trip. :thumbsup2

Thanx, glad you are enjoying it :D

Sorry you didn't get to ride RnR, we didn't even get to ride TSM it was that bad :sad2:

We love RnR its the best ride, its so much better then the Paris one, that one is in darkness, although we haven't been back there for a good few years.

I don't foresee a Paris trip in my future! You are very well traveled, it seems.

As for Toy Story, I hope you get to go on this. It's really fun!!!! So much better than Buzz IMO. We did standby for it, and it wasn't too bad, as far as the wait. I think this is one of those lines that just moves fast.

Anyway, loving the TR. You guys make a cute couple.

Your photoshoot pictures are great, how sweet is that to have the trip you became engaged on so nicely documented. I switched an ADR today after reading your entry about Ohana. I would like one day to visit DLP my husband is from France so maybe on our next trip to see family I can get him to go for a few days. It looks very pretty from the pictures I have seen on the DIS. Thanks for posting!

Hey it's Dave, hope everyone is doing great! Not going to hijack Stef's thread but I thought I would add two more pictures from our Polynesian photoshoot. I really would recommend that everyone do this as we had such a blast and it was one of the biggest highlights of the trip. Besides getting engaged of course, but im sure Stef will update you more on everything that happened! I'm glad to see your all enjoying it so far, keep on reading though as there's lots more to come!
