our non-rushing (sorta) disney anniversary w/ PICS & VIDEO! new TR link - p. 136

oh, it's fine! when we got married neither of us wanted kids. not that we don't like them....we just don't like the world we live in. pessimistic....i know. but that has kind of changed over the years and we recently started talking seriously about it. i'm waiting to be assigned to my own judge when our circuit gets another judge - that will guarantee me a more steady income than what i have now. i make decent money but it's not guaranteed. so i never know how much i'm going to make from month to month. ray makes decent money too but his guaranteed money is really what we use for the bigger bills. so as soon as i'm in that position, we'll be more serious about it.

Thanks for answering my way too personal question! I'm glad you decided to have kids...not that deciding not to is a *bad* thing, but I just love kids, being a teacher, so I think they bring joy - well most of the time...hehehe. I don't have any of my own as I am not married yet, but I hope to one of these days - though I better not wait oto long as I will be 35 in October.

Anyway, your job seems like a good one to have when you have kids because you do a lot of your work from home, right?

Oh and congrats on going to Disney next month! The time will fly!

it's hard for us to get up for rope drop, too. we always manage at least one morning though. seeing the castle first thing in the morning is just so awesome! i don't know what it is - maybe the crisp morning air or the fresh smells coming from the bakery....:cloud9:

Another thing I like to do is make an ADR for Crystal Palace before MK opens. That way you get into the park and get all these Main Street and Castle pics before hardly ANYONE else is there. The place looks deserted! I have a few that I will post over on my TR when I get to that day, as Mom and I did that in Dec.

PS Small hijack here - ArielSRL- I grew up in GA but am not a Dawg fan, even so your pic of UGA VI :sad1:

Yes, he was such an ugly cutie pie wasn't he? And I say that with the deepest affection, I really do. I guess they get UGA VII this year. UGA VI brought them so much luck! BTW, I have several cute photos of him, so I will change it to a different one soon.

Sorry Dawn...I know you don't necessarily mind the hijacking....unless it is about UGA. :scared:

Those are some great pictures. That is great that you got to be with Alice and the Mad Hatter. I met Alice in Epcot in June. She was really sweet.
So -- what did you think about SYTYCD -- I am glad that Joshua and Katie made it to the top 4.

Well, if I have to be back at school for a day of meetings and moving furniture in my classroom, at least I have a "Dawn" update to cheer me up!

Love the opening videos -- wish I was there right now!

There are never too many castle pictures. I may have to make one of them my desktop wallpaper on my work computer!!! :goodvibes

I was cracking up with your Alice story -- I am a big Alice fan, also (due to my mom who loved Alice and decorated my room in Alice stuff when I was little), and in June of 2007, I was with Chelsea and Connor waiting to ride the teacups when Alice and the Mad Hatter took a little girl to ride the teacups. I made a beeline to get the teacup next to them!!! As soon as we were finished I had to call my mom and tell her, "We rode the teacups, and Alice and the Mad Hatter were RIGHT NEXT TO US!!!" It is one of my favorite memories EVER at WDW! I am just a big kid still, I guess.

And hurray for being able to say that you are going to WDW next month!!!

Thanks for the advice! We would likely skip AK, as we too would do the trip trying to save money. I'm just interested to see how people do shorter trips. I'll look forward to your TR!

Congrats on the Teacup ride!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: How great that your last day at WDW was so magical... I think the last day is the one that always really sticks with me so it is nice when it goes great

 I too woke up this morning saying :woohoo: I get to go to Disney this month and to top it off my travel documents came today!

Your pictures are amazing - Thanks for the disney fix!

Wow! Sounds like you two had a fantastic morning! I really can't wait to hear about the rest of the day! :goodvibes

Thanks so much for sharing the pics/videos at rope drop. We've been to WDW so many times and never made it to one :confused3 .......that may have to change!

I'm so happy that you got to ride the teacups with Alice and the Mad Hatter.....how fun! You really can see the excitement on your face! :yay:

YAY for WDW again next month!!! :woohoo:

Hi pumkin :wave2: love your name by the way

I have enjoyed everything about your trip report. Love all the pictures. I felt like I was there with you guys. I know there's more to report so i'm still here waiting for more. popcorn::

I've never noticed the upside down hidden Mickeys on this part of the castle! I bet you didn't either when you snapped this haha.

2722686755_c0b0cc3c0b_o.jpg

Wasn't it you that talked about going to the World in the 90's and the line for IASM was held up because of princess Di and the boys being there? I found this little gem while just surfing around, and it reminded me of that story you told (sorry if it wasn't you!):

When the Princess of Wales brought Princes William and Harry to WDW in the mid 1990s, the Royal Protection Squad insisted that the family travel through WDW via the utilidoor system. The boys were nicknamed "The Popup Princes" since they kept popping up at the various attractions.

There is also a secret tunnel in "It's a Small World", it is on the right hand side just as you turn left near the beginning and the tunnel exit is also on the right about 20 yards down. The tunnels on the ride are service tunnels for the boats, where the water is drained without lifting the boats up.

Thank you for posting MK Rope Drop. We have never done any rope drop and hope to this next trip at MK. Our plan is to eat breakfast at Main Street Bakery - French Toast Loaf! Then onto Fantasyland for Dumbo, Tea Cups, Philharmagic and Peter Pan. We have never started in FL. I'm hoping we can get through those pretty quickly.

So cool about the Mad Hatter and Alice. They rode on our Tea Cup ride - they got in with 2 adults. My DS was glad they didn't come with us - it would have freaked him out. I thought it was so awesome that they rode...it was during MVMCP. Then we saw Pooh and Eeyore ride Pooh with a family!

I'm in the back of this pic in the Red Sweatshirt and pony tail - I just kept watching them. (DH took the pic)

Love the pics of you happy on the Tea Cups!

Awww, how cool that you rode the teacups with Alice and the Mad Hatter!!! I know you were just thrilled!!!!
The first picture of the castle with Walt and Mickey is just gorgeous!!!!

I have to butt in to say I was just relieved Twitch made it through! I never vote but couldn't resist this week. I think Joshua might win....but I am happy with all of the top 4. I was hoping for that group! :thumbsup2

here they come!!!!!

I can't wait!!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay:

What a GREAT picture!

Some of my fave pics came from the side of the castle like this, but of course mine had the lights on it

From the other side....

I will take many more when we are there ;)

This is a REALLY cool pic too. I want one of these too!

tick.....tock.......tick.......tock.......

DSC04834.jpg

Funny story about this ride. Dawn I don't think I've told you but I'll prob tell you again when we are on it :upsidedow . When I was little the one thing I rememeber was picking up my feet when we went over tick-tock (not this one but the one at the end) b/c I thought he was going to get me :rotfl2:

here i am excited to be riding with alice and the mad hatter.....

DSC04844.jpg

So cool that you got to ride with Alice :cool1: , this picture is hilairous!

Those castle pics are the most beautiful I've ever seen.....other than Vandy Fan's of course...

Jordan.....YOU ROCK!!!! :thumbsup2

Okay - I'm a dork - sitting here all teary eyed after watching the opening ceremony videos! Thanks for posting them - I've never been to Magic Kingdom rope drop and now I must!
you can never have to many castle pics!! It's so beautiful I can look at it for HOURS!!! sometimes it even brings a tear to my eye!!!

Glad to know I'm not alone ....I did the same thing watching the video. Getting mad at myself b/c I'm to lazy to get up early in the morning. Then thinking about my sweet little neighbor that is going there this weekend for her 3rd birthday and she should get to see the rope drop tomorrow :yay: morning!!!! I'm so excited for her! She'll tell everyone (if you ask) "I'm going for my birthday to see ALL the Princesses"....SO cute! princess:

I have to butt in to say I was just relieved Twitch made it through! I never vote but couldn't resist this week. I think Joshua might win....but I am happy with all of the top 4. I was hoping for that group!

I'm going to have to start watching this show again. Esp. since it's right at the end now!

Well, if I have to be back at school for a day of meetings and moving furniture in my classroom, at least I have a "Dawn" update to cheer me up!

That is what I was doing today as well...well no meetings but getting my room set up. I read this and then I noticed you are in GA as well. I will PM you so we can chat about teaching in GA if you don't mind.

Could that be DUE to a plan of some sort? ;)

i'm not telling......;)

Great MK pics!

thank you!!!

Hey Dawn!

Great new update! Looks like a fun last day at Magic Kingdom so far!

A while back you mentioned you wish they made the blue and white Alice dress in adult sizes... If you really want it, there's lots of them for sale on ebay!! Sometimes it's listed under "lingerie" which is a little worrying, but mostly they're just adult sized versions of the dress. Cute!

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your favourite day! :thumbsup2

oh, i might have to look into that! thanks for the tip.

I think rope drops is a must on my list for next year too. Looks like a lot of fun. Cool beans that you got to ride with Alice and the Mad Hatter. I don't know if I can to tea cups, I would love to do them but the spinning  Oh and you can post pictures of the castle all the time, I can never get too much of the castle either. :goodvibes

i think you're the only other person i know that says, "cool beans." i say it all the time! you know you don't have to spin, right? i mean, the whole platform spins, but not fast. if you don't touch the wheel thingie in the middle your teacup will stay still and you just kind of spin in one giant circle with the platform. and that ride is not that long!

I think you should switch those 2 days around, i need to drink that flight of beers from rose and crown with your husband on friday at Epcot.:thumbsup2 and my wife needs someone to drink her frozen drinks with.

okay i will stop bugging you about switching your days now.

great update, you got some really good pics, i think i might have to try out that bakery on main street, never eaten there.

i also want to try and be one of the first people to MK on the opening that way they will take us to be the family that rides on the train.

i don't think i can brave epcot PM EMH if i'm not going to benefit from it (we're staying off site), so no thanks! plus all our ADRs are already made and i'm NOT changing those! although drinks with you and your DW sounds fun! good luck with riding on the train....that would be so cool!!!!!

What a cute update! I love how Alice and the Mad Hatter rode th teacups, so many people must have gotten a huge kick out of that :goodvibes

it was so neat! i think i was more excited than anyone though. i'm sure they thought i was psycho.

Count me on the dork list too. Total dorkiness came out when Alice and the Mad Hatter appeared, i can just hear the "Sippy cup...." scene. How awesome for you Dawn ! And what cool pictures! Sounds like it just set the mood for the whole day.
Love the castle pic too, I haven't been in MK in just over a year (I have been to EPCOT though) anyone know when the coloration appeared on Mickey's face and shorts, I'll have to go look at my 07 pics, see how bad my memory is, maybe it was there then. Cute pic of the little boy with the sword it looks like it's going to lift him right off his feet. Can't wait to hear the 'rest of the story'.
Lynn

PS Small hijack here - ArielSRL- I grew up in GA but am not a Dawg fan, even so your pic of UGA VI :sad1:

i have no idea when the coloration appeared, but i took the picture below in early may 2007 and it was there. so maybe just before that?

197.jpg

oh, and even though i am definitely not a georgia fan, i still sympathize with the loss of UGA. any doggie is precious in my eyes!!!

Thanks for answering my way too personal question! I'm glad you decided to have kids...not that deciding not to is a *bad* thing, but I just love kids, being a teacher, so I think they bring joy - well most of the time...hehehe. Oh and congrats on going to Disney next month! The time will fly!

you have plenty of time!!! i'm in no hurry, either. i do a lot of my work at home, but i will still have to find child care for them. i thought when i first started doing this that it would be easy to keep kids at home while your'e working, but it's definitely not. i have a friend who started court reporting the same time i did. she had a 4-month-old then and QUICKLY realized that you can't get anything done. once you sit down and actually get started on a transcript, you have to get up again and tend to the child. and having to interrupt your work like that is really annoying and you get nothing done, besides the fact that it's not fair to the kid! so i will be looking for a nanny or daycare situation because that's not gonna work!

Another thing I like to do is make an ADR for Crystal Palace before MK opens. That way you get into the park and get all these Main Street and Castle pics before hardly ANYONE else is there. The place looks deserted! I have a few that I will post over on my TR when I get to that day, as Mom and I did that in Dec.

i thought about that for our december trip but none of my travelmates are big winnie the pooh fans (neither am i). i mean, i like the characters, but they're not a must-do for me. so we opted to go with a breakfast at tusker house instead.

Those are some great pictures. That is great that you got to be with Alice and the Mad Hatter. I met Alice in Epcot in June. She was really sweet.
So -- what did you think about SYTYCD -- I am glad that Joshua and Katie made it to the top 4.

i just love alice!!! i have her song "a world of my own" as my myspace page song.

i was happy with the results. i think the right 4 are in the top, although i do think will is brilliant and should've made it further than he did. it's so hard to pick just one!!!

Well, if I have to be back at school for a day of meetings and moving furniture in my classroom, at least I have a "Dawn" update to cheer me up!

awwww.....you're so sweet! hope your day back at school was a good one!

Love the opening videos -- wish I was there right now!

me, too!!! i wish i could wake up and see that at least once a week.

There are never too many castle pictures. I may have to make one of them my desktop wallpaper on my work computer!!! :goodvibes

cool! feel free!!!

that's so neat! i love that your mom decorated your room with alice stuff. i just love the story and how "proper" she is. i have an alice bag that has a picture of her holding a mushroom on it and it says, "curiouser and curiouser." so cute!

And hurray for being able to say that you are going to WDW next month!!!

:cool1:

Thanks for the advice! We would likely skip AK, as we too would do the trip trying to save money. I'm just interested to see how people do shorter trips. I'll look forward to your TR!

keep an eye out for a link in my signature! i will probably start a pre-TR (maybe) when we get back from our september trip.

Congrats on the Teacup ride!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: How great that your last day at WDW was so magical... I think the last day is the one that always really sticks with me so it is nice when it goes great

YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD THIS MONTH!!!! :yay: doesn't that feel good? thanks for your nice comments!

Wow! Sounds like you two had a fantastic morning! I really can't wait to hear about the rest of the day! :goodvibes

Thanks so much for sharing the pics/videos at rope drop. We've been to WDW so many times and never made it to one :confused3 .......that may have to change!

it's really a neat little show! you just have to get there by 8:45 to see it. as long as it's not a busy day, you'll be able to see it from anywhere inside the turnstyles.

I'm so happy that you got to ride the teacups with Alice and the Mad Hatter.....how fun! You really can see the excitement on your face! :yay:

i'm such a dork!

YAY for WDW again next month!!! :woohoo:

I have enjoyed everything about your trip report. Love all the pictures. I felt like I was there with you guys. I know there's more to report so i'm still here waiting for more. popcorn::

thanks! my grandpa's nickname for me is "punkin" because he said i looked like a pumpkin out of a pumpkin patch when my mom brought me home from the hospital. plus i was REALLY fat until i was about 4 - i mean so fat my mom had to pull the rolls back to wash the dirt out from between my layers of fat!

thanks for reading, by the way!

I've never noticed the upside down hidden Mickeys on this part of the castle! I bet you didn't either when you snapped this haha.

and no, that wasn't me - i think it was danielle but i do think it was here on my TR. i hope she sees this so she can read it because it's really cool!

DANIELLE!!!!! COME READ OVER HERE!!!!

Thank you for posting MK Rope Drop. We have never done any rope drop and hope to this next trip at MK. Our plan is to eat breakfast at Main Street Bakery - French Toast Loaf! so cool that you guys got to ride with them too! i don't know why they didn't actually ride in a teacup when we saw them. maybe because the ride wasn't full? :confused3 love your picture of the mad hatter!

Awww, how cool that you rode the teacups with Alice and the Mad Hatter!!! I know you were just thrilled!!!!
The first picture of the castle with Walt and Mickey is just gorgeous!!!!

yes, i was like a giddy little girl! :goodvibes

I have to butt in to say I was just relieved Twitch made it through! I never vote but couldn't resist this week. I think Joshua might win....but I am happy with all of the top 4. I was hoping for that group! :thumbsup2

i really like all of them. i have NO CLUE who's going to win. it should be interesting!!!

you have plenty of time!!! i'm in no hurry, either. i do a lot of my work at home, but i will still have to find child care for them. i thought when i first started doing this that it would be easy to keep kids at home while your'e working, but it's definitely not. i have a friend who started court reporting the same time i did. she had a 4-month-old then and QUICKLY realized that you can't get anything done. once you sit down and actually get started on a transcript, you have to get up again and tend to the child. and having to interrupt your work like that is really annoying and you get nothing done, besides the fact that it's not fair to the kid! so i will be looking for a nanny or daycare situation because that's not gonna work!

I've heard Tusker House is good. You'll have to let us know after December!

Ok....I think I must do a rope drop sometime! I can't believe I've never done that before

well.......i'm up for it if you are! it's really not that bad trying to get there for opening. i'm thinking that sunday might work. we don't have a late night planned for saturday and we're going to kona for breakfast at 9:30 anyway. if we feel up to it, we could go to MK for rope drop, see the show, walk down main street so you can see the CMs waving and everything, then grab a fastpass to something (to use later that night for EMH) and then hop on the monorail to go to kona for breakfast. and i actually don't think we have any definite plans for that day before HDR that night, either. i think we said either MK or epcot. so we could just go back to whichever one we wanted after breakfast anyway!

Some of my fave pics came from the side of the castle like this, but of course mine had the lights on it

well, maybe we'll get to do it - it's totally up to you since i've seen it! i hope your neighbor has a great time. i can't wait to hear how it went!!

I'm going to have to start watching this show again. Esp. since it's right at the end now!

next week's finale will be SPECTACULAR.....i can promise you!
