Our New Puppy

We got a 4 month old black and tan smooth coat girl dachshund last night. Here are a few pictures of her:

He is not so sure- he thinks she is a little jumpy at times. Hopefully over the next few days they will get to be friends. Right now they tolewrate each other and he is rarely barks at her or acts too aggressive.

Both of them will stay home at SDV- after all Daniel and Larry will be here. She is tiny- although she is larger than Sultan was when we brought him home- but older too.

Congratulations, Rebecca! Duchess is darling!! I'm sure Sultan will get used to her and eventually have fun with her. Sometimes, they just have to get a rhythm going with their play, etc. Sultan just needs to still feel special.

Squirrel!

Rebecca, what a little cutie. Did she come with her name or did you select it? She certainly looks like a Duchess.

We selected it- she is named after Duchess from the Aristocats. We do disney names but tend to do the more obscure- Sultan is the footstool in Beauty and the Beast. We were down to Bianca (Rescuers) or Duchess and felt the royal name would help her compete with Sultan better and Duchess certainly fits her. She is ruling the roost, He just gives in to her if she wants the toy he is using or anything.

Aww, sooo cute! We had that squirrel... and then we had that squirrel without stuffing, after our dog realized he could rip it out. But he (Oreo) still carried around the empty "carcass" of the squirrel, which freaked me out a few times, I must say.

Now if we have a small stuffed toy, we give it to him, and he'll play with it for as long as he can until the stuffing starts flying.

Duchess is a great name, and suits her very well.
