Thanks macraven!

Tile and new tub in 2 bathrooms in preparation for putting on the market on Feb. 11th.

Still don't know where we're moving to but that is minor compared to everything else going on! o_O

Can I ask why did you move recently and where to?

Thanks, Kathy

Kathy, we hate snow and cold weather and missed having decent summers

We lived in Chicago for years then moved to a border town a few miles from Wisconsin

This past summer w decided we could not deal with winter again

Found an RE agent online and bought a house in Georgia
All spur of the moment....

Went to see houses day after Labor Day and views 40 houses
Went back again 8 days later and saw 16 more houses
Put offer in on one house but it fizzled out on there end
Waited a week and bid on one of the other houses

Then I went to Orlando solo for a 18 day stay

Came home and packed daily as we signed a contract

It all went fast
We put our house on the market while I was at Disney

House sold in 18 days

We did no updates on our house when we listed it
Cleaned it top to bottom and took out 2 pieces of furniture from each room to make the rooms look larger

Wish you success in selling your house!

We sold ours when the market bellied up, short sale. We sold it in 3 months. Thank god. There was a bidding war as it sold before the bank gave the go ahead. The bank ended up getting more than what they said it was worth. We kept it up and made sure the yard and pool were always clean. And I cleaned everything as well. The lady who lost out on it got mad at us for her not getting it.
She started buying furniture for it before she even knew she would get it. We even got nasty phone calls from the realtor for not telling them. She should have known the sellers don't get a choice in the sale. I made no money just got out of it.

I made sure the house always smelled good to. But I agree the least amount in the house is always best. Easier to keep clean as well.

Interesting stories macraven and Jo. I can't imagine selling quickly since our last try of 6 months was right before the market fell in 2008. We will probably be listing for at least $125 K lower than we did in 2008 but we just want to get out and move on. And we have far more $ on hand to cover a new house this time.

Even though our house is in pretty good shape, homes around the Washington, DC area require "staging" and more! Very little sells in under 3 months in our semi-rural area.

But I truly dread keeping the house in perfect condition for showing...

Thanks for the ideas about removing furniture from each room; that sounds good.

We kept the furniture in the garage
By removing furniture in each room, it made the rooms open up and look larger
We also put decorative pillows on the chair/couch to bring out the color in the rooms

So much easier to keep it clean daily

I'm not moving again
Still emptying boxes here

The time will come when it is right for you to move Kathy. At least you will make money. That is why I don't have much furniture in my house. I don't want to clean much.
