Yesterday I posted a thread describing the adventures of my daughters and I at Chick Fil A since Mrs. AA is out of town for a few weeks.

And here is the reason:

She is training at Guide Dog Foundation with a female Labrador/Standard Poodle cross. She specifically asked for the breed due to her asthma.

This will be her third guide dog; the first two were from another school and were Australian Shepherds, which she loved. They were both excellent guides. The first was retired with friends, and her most recent will still be with us as a family pet.

This new dog is rather puppyish, so things are about to get more interesting in the house!

Hiya Alan,

Good luck to you all with the new dog, Rebecca sure looks happy in that photo and I'm sure he'll get over his puppy ways and quickly become a great guide dog!

All the best,
Gaspodé

Congrats on the new addition. I agree, Mrs. AA looks like she and the new guide dog are bonding well. Best wishes for the future!

Congratulations and good luck with your new addition. She really is cute.

Love the face!!! Too Cute!!

Oh, how nice! Congrats and Good Luck with the new family members. LabraDoodles are quickly becoming a really popular "breed" :paw:

I've never thought of such a puppy mix and how cutie! What is his/her name?

Her name is Pilot, and I'm not sure how many school in the US are using Lab/Poodle crosses.

I first heard of Labradoodles several years ago when I was actively speaking in LIONS clubs about guide dogs. They were being used in England at that time.

The Lab, Golden Retriever, and German Shepherd Dog are still the main 3 in the US. The Aussies are not common either, but they worked great for us.

My sister used to work for Canine Companions for Independence. They stick to the lab/golden cross. I think they have tried the labradoodles, but found that for their specific needs, they weren't for them. But I have heard they work amazing as seeing eye dogs.

Also, lately I've seen a lot of labradoodles as pets. But they are sure expensive!!

Good Luck! Looks like you have yourself a great new family member! :paw:

How exciting!! I have seen stories on TV where someone has gone to get their new dog and trained with them. Those are always so touching as I am a huge dog lover and am amazed at just how much a dog can help a person get along in life. I can't imagine life w/o a dog! I bet being a cross between a lab and a poodle that is SMART dog!! Best wishes to you all and BTW, I read that Chick-Fil-A story last night and was so impressed by your thoughts. Thanks for sharing!

Pilot is a beauty, for sure!

I meant the dog, though Rebecca does look great as well!

I just hope Rebecca will have her with her quite a bit at WDW :hyper:
