Exactly this. In general, most do open. But there are some where they do not open. Most can be opened, not all.
They're interested in the balconies opening up, not adjoining rooms.I assume you have looked at the deck plans...a bit hard to see, but they try to show adjoining rooms. The staterooms we get always have the inner doors marked. We have never needed to open the flap.
Yes, we have connected 3 staterooms via balcony before on the Fantasy. The whole partition doesnt move, but the flap at the edge does. Ive attached a picture showing our 3 cabins connected.

I mentioned your story to our friends yesterday. We all got a chuckle. How fun!! Hope you have a great trip. Just make sure you have the curtains closed to avoid visitors at the wrong time on your balcony
. We had connected balcony staterooms with friends and their daughter was always trying to visit our room when we were changing for dinner.

I legit didn't know they did this. I'm hoping someday to do a cruise with some other families and had never seen a reason to bother trying to get adjacent rooms, but that looks awesome!
