Our Magical WDW Adventure -24 Days of Food and Fun-Updated 3/8 -Come Join Us

I can't see them either! I'm so glad someone else is having that problem. It says I need to upgrade to Pro, but can't do that...

I think it means Ariel's bandwidth exceeded, not yours. Maybe she has too many pictures uploaded or she's gotten too many views? I don't know, Photobucket is fussy about that kind of stuff. I hope it gets fixed soon!

Day 14 ~ The One Where We Enter The Twilight Zone

We were really lazy this morning and didn’t get up till 11am but we definitely needed a good lie-in and it made us feel completely refreshed. We took our time getting ready, I went on the computer for a bit and made some important calls. We were then off to MGM arriving there about 2pm. As we were getting the tram to the front of the park we were so excited. We both absolutely love MGM and it was the first park I visited with Mum, Dad and Sophie on our first trip so it always brings back really good memories. We went through the ticket booths and finally we were into the park, I love walking down the main street, the park is so pretty and the architecture is all so lovely.

We went straight to Tower of Terror, one of my all time favorite rides as we both couldn’t wait to ride it. There was only a 10 minute wait, significantly less than the 90 minute wait from last time we were here. I love walking up the hill to the ride, the tower looks so spooky and then once you’re inside all the old furniture and little extra touches make it such a great setting for the ride.

DSC03074.jpg

I love getting in the lift at the beginning and the TV starts playing and telling the story of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, it really sets the scene and creates the atmosphere for the ride ahead. We were soon strapped into our seats for the ride and then we were off. The whole lead up to the drops is so good, when I first rode it I had no idea when we were going to drop, at first I actually thought we were going to drop in the very first lift with the TV and started wondering what I was supposed to be holding on to as I was stuck in the middle. It was a brilliant ride as always, although the drops seemed pretty tame after Dr Doom’s Freefall, but we did get a great view over to Blizzard Beach which was cool.

By the time we got off Tower of Terror it was then 2.40pm so we went and got a spot for the parade. We managed to find a pretty good spot but it was kind of blocking the walkway so I stood to the side to let people through until the parade started. Then literally one minute before the parade started an obnoxious American woman with a little girl came and stood right in front of me and then kept hitting me with her bag. She kept calling for her husband to come and stand by her, pointing for him to stand right in front of Nick, some people are so rude, they expect to turn up just before the parade and get a good spot just because they have kids, now I don’t mind letting kids in front of me but pushy parents are another thing . Well the Block Party Bash parade was brilliant and I’m so glad we watched it. When it started you could see all the Pixar floats coming down the main street, they were really bright and it had really good music, but it seemed to just be going by without much happening. Then all the floats stopped and the parade really began. They had a fold down trampoline which they put down right in front of us and there was lots of really good singing, dancing and acrobatics and really good music.

Everyone was singing and dancing along, although it was hard as it was so hot. At one point they got all the kids to go and join in with balls and hula hoops. The woman with the little girl who stood by me disappeared off to join in which was nice as it meant I got a break from being smacked about by her bag. Then when the kids bit finished she came back and literally stood right in front of me and started videoing the rest of the parade, now completely blocking my view. Her husband was no better either, I had a woman behind me with a little boy on her shoulders and the husband just went and stood right in front of her blocking both their view, grrrr some people have no manners or common decency. After all the dancing finished the parade moved on along the route, I was glad we stood where we did as we would have had a long wait for it if we were further up and it was far too hot to be standing around for ages.

After the parade we went to check out the wait for Rock and Rollercoaster, it was only 20 minutes but we decided to grab a fastpass and go and do some other rides in the meantime. Firstly though we went and got an ice-cream each as we were both so hot and hadn’t yet had anything to eat. I really wanted to try a Mickey head so I had one of those which was pretty good and Nick had a cup of butterscotch ice-cream which he said was really good.

We went to The Voyage of the Little Mermaid and whilst we waited for the show to start we browsed through the shops. Then it was time for the show to start and since The Little Mermaid is my favorite film ever of course I love it. Its such a creative show and its great how they have all the bubbles and lighting and the florescent fish and all my favorite songs. Nick loved it too, although he wouldn’t admit it I could tell he did.

We then went back for Rock and Rollercoaster which was great. I hadn’t been on this one since 2005 and Nick hadn’t been on at all but we had been on the one in Paris last summer. It was better than the one in Paris, the florescent signs are really cool, as are the loops and I love the shoot off at the beginning.

We had 30 minutes to spare before our dinner ADR so we looked in the shops, brought some pins and a High School Musical Mickey and Minnie for Sophie and then went over to the Hollywood Brown Derby.

DSC03199.jpg

We were seated straight away, the restaurants quite cool inside but Nick thought it was quite weird with all the pictures and caricature type paintings on the wall. Since we were doing the Fantasmic Dinner package we had starter, main and dessert plus a soft drink included. We both ordered the crab cakes to start, I don’t really like fishy things but this was nice, the sauces and potato crust made it less fishy and it had a nice taste to it. We were also brought bread but it was pretty plain and the butter wasn’t sweet like it usually is so we didn’t really eat any. For mains Nick had the pork chop which came with macaroni cheese, a wine sauce and onions. The macaroni was quite good but it was a weird combination and Nick thought the pork was quite plain. I had the New York strip steak with red bliss potatoes and onions. It was all good, the steak had hardly any fat on which was good and the potatoes were really yummy. For dessert we both had the vanilla bean crème brulee with a dark chocolate dipped biscotti. This was really good, we both enjoyed it loads although we couldn’t eat the biscuit thing as we were so full. We paid the bill and got our Fantasmic tickets and then headed out. We had mixed opinions about the Brown Derby, it was a nice meal but we don’t think it would be worth 2 table service credits like it is on the dining plan.

We headed over to the pin shop in the hat and brought a couple of pins. We went over to Muppets 3D which was really good as usual, I love all the 3D shows there all so different and clever. We walked through the New York Streets and got some pictures, then we walked past the Great Movie Ride but the wait was 30 minutes which wasn’t worth it in our opinion.

We browsed the shops some more and then made our way to Oscars where we were let through to the reserved section of Fantasmic. It was a bit of a walk but when we got there most of the reserved section was free. We chose some seats a few rows back as we didn’t want to get too wet and on the right hand side of the second right hand section because we wanted to be able to see the water screens well and this was a good spot. We got there just before 8pm and the main middle section was already pretty full, I can see why they advise people to get here early, you need to for a good view.

DSC03227.jpg

Nick went and grabbed us some drinks and some popcorn to snack on whilst we waited, whilst he was gone I wrote a postcard and sorted some photo’s on my camera. However, as we waited I kept getting knocked and whacked by a little boy sitting behind us whose mother just sat there on her phone ignoring her two little boys. At one point the boy fell forward dropping his cars into the row in front of us and the mother still didn’t move her eyes from her phone. The boy then pulled a toy off his brother who looked less than 2, sending him flying into the bench whacking his head. It was only now the mother paid any attention, however the boy continued to whack into me and she didn’t seem to care at all, what is it with these parents today?
The time passed quite quickly and soon Fantasmic was starting. The show was absolutely brilliant again. It is so amazing how they mix the water screens, the fireworks and the acting, the boats with the princesses, the evil snake, Mickey and all the wonderful music, it is so fantastic. We both loved the show, we especially love the water screens, probably because they are quite different to any aspect in any other show, the whole concept is so different to the usual fireworks.

And a picture for Heather:

After walking out of the theater with the rest of the crowds we decided to pay a visit to the candy shop, something I was really excited about. Everything looked so delicious, the different coated candy apples, the sprinkle covered rice crispy treats, the fudge, oh everything looked good. We got a white and milk chocolate strawberry, a chocolate chip covered marshmallow on a Mickey Mouse straw, a brownie and a caramel apple to keep us going for a few days... or with that amount of sugar a few weeks.

DSC03314.jpg

We then left the park as we had done most of what we wanted and were coming back again next week. We caught the tram back to our car and drove back to the resort.

Back at the resort we decided to go to the food court as we had only had dinner and some popcorn today and were still feeling a bit hungry. We grabbed a Pepper Market special pizza which looked so good and some hot chocolate to go. Now we weren’t very impressed with the drinks selection for the refillable mugs at Coronado Springs, the selection was really limited, at both the Polynesian and Yacht Club they had nearly double the selection. They didn’t do hot chocolate at Coronado Springs which we loved to have at night on our last visit but a very nice man behind the drinks counter at the Pepper Market made some up for us tonight which was really nice. We took the pizza and hot chocolate back to the room and had it whilst watching some good old American TV.

Then it was time for bed.
