Our Magical WDW Adventure -24 Days of Food and Fun-Updated 3/8 -Come Join Us

Wow, you've done it again! I loved this update! :cool1:
Your balloon ride was amazing, I can't believe you saw your house that you stayed in.
Loved your pirate outfits, glad you got into the spirit of it all.
I have wanted to try the Illuminations cruise, it seems like a nice, relaxed way to see the fireworks. So sweet of Nick to get you the chocolate Mickey and strawberries.
The picture of Nick trying the Beverly was so funny! He has a nice British reaction... you should see our pictures of us trying it out! Not very proper! You would think someone was gagging us!
I am still amazed at all that you did while in Florida, pretty impressive!

woo update!! :woohoo: that hot air balloon ride looks like a blast. i love doing things like that. and you've almost sold me on an illuminations cruise on my birthday trip next year - i do enjoy being catered to. ;)

Great update :)

I really wanted to try the hot air balloon ride this trip but we are going to run out of time, oh well I can add it to next year.

I was getting worried about you! I'd seen you post on other threads, but not your own. What a fantastic update!!! I love the picture of Nick that you caught at Club Cool! I had to giggle out loud. I'm also glad that you posted pictures of the Yacht Club. That's been one of my resorts that I'm debating staying at next year. I would love to be able to walk to Epcot or hop on the boat to DHS. Good to hear from you:banana:

Thanks for the replies everyone, sorry I've been slacking a bit lately I have so much to do, we go on holiday in just over 2 weeks and I'm not ready at all.

Unfortunately I only have a few days left to post and then its all over:sad1: although I am hoping some of you will join me on my new pre-trippie which should be up soon :thumbsup2

Day 21 ~ The One Where We Rock and Roll With Aerosmith

We were up at 7.45am, got showered and dressed and were out by 8.45am heading for MGM. We went to Tower of Terror first but there was a 20 minutes wait so we got fastpasses and went on to Rock and Rollercoaster instead. Rock and Rollercoaster said a 20 minute wait but we were straight through to the sound recording bit, then right through to the ride with only one group of people in front of us, brilliant, right? Wrong! They went on but when it came to us we waited and waited and waited. They announced after about 15 minutes that they they were swapping over cars, they sent off about 12 with no-one in whilst we just waited forever. After about 25-30 minutes we finally got on, good job it was a good ride, we both loved it it goes so fast and its so cool with the music. After the ride it still wasn’t time for our fastpass and we were quite hungry so we went over to Starring Rolls Cafe for some breakfast. It brought back good memories going there as the first time I went to WDW with Mum we visited MGM on our first morning and the first thing we did was get some breakfast from MGM, I even remember what we all had and how we sat on tables in front of the Brown Derby so excited that we were finally there. Anyway Nick got a latte and chocolate croissant and I got a cappuccino and apple turnover, they were both good and filling and we had fun people watching for 5 minutes.

We then went on Tower of Terror and this time we took Piggles on for his first ride, he was so excited but a little nervous too. The ride was brilliant and we managed to get a photo with Piggles which was funny, he loved the ride too, especially the view over to Blizzard Beach.
After the ride it was time for the first Beauty and the Beast show so we went a got a seat. Nick hadn’t seen this show before as we didn’t get chance to watch it last time, but whats even worse is that he has never seen Beauty and the Beast before, not once, I’m sure thats not legal. The show was really good but not one of the best. The costumes are really bright and colorful and the ending is really good, so beautiful with all the sparkly pink.

We then went over to One Man’s Dream as we hadn’t done it before and were quite interested to see what it was. The walk through bit was really interesting, it was great seeing all the pictures and models and reading about how it all started, we spent quite a bit of time here admiring Walts work.

The film about Walt’s life was good too, I love finding out more about Walt and how it all began.

By this time we were thirsty and it was still a bit of time before the Indiana Jones that Nick desperately wanted to watch so we grabbed a chocolate milkshake and some cheetos and sat in the sun and listened to the end of the High School Musical show.
We then went over to the Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular, we were about 25 minutes early but the queue was very long. They were letting the fastpass queue in first and they never seemed to stop coming, they literally filled up 2 thirds of the theatre, this system doesn’t seem the best as a lot of people queued for ages and never got in. The normal queue was really long too and they told us that we probably would have to stand even though we weren’t that far in the queue and there were loads of people behind. Luckily there were quite a few seats so we were ok. The show was really good, Nick really enjoyed it, he had missed it last time so was happy to finally see it. The bit at the end with the plane is really cool, its interesting to see how they do some of these stunts and make the movies.

Afterwards we had a quick look in shops, brought some souvenirs and gifts and then left MGM for the final time, I was very sad as I love it there so much, its definitely one of my favorites.

One last cute picture from MGM:

We went to Downtown Disney, it had started to rain when we were in MGM so we thought it might be really busy but it wasn’t that bad. We had a $15 voucher for Planet Hollywood so we went there for lunch. We weren’t really hungry and had our meal at California Grill tonight so we ordered the Texas Tosdado’s starter as a main, a baked potato and a BBQ chicken sandwich all of which we shared.

The food was surprisingly very good, we have always been disappointed by Planet Hollywood (the ones in London and Paris) but we made some good choices and it was really yummy.

We did some shopping and then went over to Fantasia mini-golf for our second free game. This course was good but not as good as Winter Summerland and we got stuck behind a family with 2 youngish girls so we had to keep waiting for them. What was cool though was they had a smallish lake next to the course and there was a really cute turtle floating about, I have never seen one in the wild before so it was really cool, actually I tell a lie they had one in the lake at Coronado Springs but none the lass it was pretty cool.

We went back to Coronado Springs and had to get ready quickly. We had a 8pm ADR at California Grill and were both really looking forward to it.

Me dressed up for California Grill:

We arrived at the check in about 10 minutes early but they were very busy and told us they would be late seating us. We were taken up to the restaurant in the elevator and went to the bar area which was packed. We got a table, the view was amazing, we could see over to Magic Kingdom, Grand Floridian, The Wedding Pavilion and the Polynesian, it was so nice to just sit there and stare at how beautiful everything looked. Good job there was a good view to entertain us because we waited ages to be served. The server was busy but kept cleaning tables instead of serving. He kept saying he would just be a minute and then do something else and the other server there was just standing talking for about 10 minutes. Eventually our server came out and asked us to wait a minute whilst he went and served a table of 3 well dressed men who had literally just sat down and he knew this. This really annoyed us and it was a good 5 minutes before he came back to us. When he eventually came I ordered a Cosmopolitan and Nick an orange juice and he went off for another 5 minutes. However our table was ready (after we had waited over 25 minutes for drinks) but the seater told us we had to wait as we had to pay the bill for the drinks before we could be seated. Great another 5 minute wait. We were eventually seated at a table in back room, we were disappointed as the view wasn’t as good as the main room which is what we had been looking forward too but the decor was nice, more sophisticated. Our server was very nice but the service was quiet slow. He told us about the restaurant and the menu, we ordered a beef tenderloin flatbread to start which was really nice.

Sorry its only half of it:
DSC04313.jpg

We both had the filet mignon with cheddar crusted grits and asparagus for mains, it took a whilst to come and in this time the back room was getting emptier and emptier until there was only us and another table left. The view was quite nice, we could just about see Illuminations in the distance which was another interesting view of it.

Its not a very good picture but you can see the view of Illuminations in the background:
DSC04315.jpg

Our mains came the they were really good, the steak was perfect and the grits were really nice.

DSC04314.jpg

It was even better washed down with a bottle of chenin blanc and the room had a nice relaxed ambience, quite small and cosy. Then just before we finished our mains they started making up some tables and we heard the manager say that there was a party of 9 with 5 children coming in. I panicked and thought first we get stuck in the back room which seemed really isolated and cut off from the rest of the restaurant and then we get over-run with children. Luckily they were really quiet and good and another family with 4 kids were also seated in there but they were good too... so panic over. For dessert Nick had a banana and almond bread pudding which he loved. I had a banana and caramel stack which was lovely. It had really delicious ice-cream in and had so much flavor.

Once we finished our server told us about the Wishes viewing area and told us the back one was a lot quieter. We went out to that one and sure enough there was hardly anyone there and the other one was packed so this was a good tip. Wishes was great as usual, it was great to see it from another view and we had music too which was a bonus.

It was so pretty up on the platform, the view over to the Magic Kingdom was great, you could see so much and it looked so pretty all lit up at night. And we got to see the Electrical Water Pageant which was heading over to Wilderness Lodge. Its pretty to watch but the music can get pretty annoying quite fast.

After Wishes we did a bit of shopping in the Contemporary and then drove home to bed.

Great update!! The mini golf is so much fun...I agree with you though, I like Winter Summerland better than Fantasia Gardens.

That is a lot of souvenirs!!!! :faint:

I LOVE all the stuff that you bought! What fun! I can't believe that your trip is getting ready to come to an end. You've had such a good time and done so much. I'm definately thinking we need to try out the putt-putt. We've never done that in all the times we've been down there. But, we don't rent a car so we'd have to take a taxi. I'll have to look into that more.

What a great update! I feel your sadness leaving MGM for the last time. It is always so bittersweet. :sad1: Sorry that your California Grill experience wasn't quite the best.
Here is a question for you... did you find that people wanted to talk to you and ask you where you are from? Did you find that amusing or annoying?
Do start a new PTR!! That would be so much fun to tag along again! :cool1:

If anyones interested my new pre-trippie is posted on the community board... please come and join me again, its been so much fun this time around I'd love to have you all there :goodvibes

It's here if you want to join me

I've loved, loved, LOVED reading your trip report :)
I finally got all caught up!
You've helped to give me some great insight on activities I've always wanted to try, but never have around the WDW area. :) Now I get to bug my DH by saying "Ooooh, let's do this!" "No, no, no we're definitely doing THAT next time". Hahaha.:rotfl:
I'm excited that you have a new pre-trippie too! Yay!
Keep it going girl!:wizard:

Firstly I want to apologise for not posting on here for so long, I know its probably been frustrating waiting around for just a few more days but I thank you for baring with me. But for your patience I will now give you the last few days of my trippie, which is pretty sad for me after all this time.
