Our Magical Trip of a Million Dreams, Wishes & Surprises~Engaged at Disney(6/26 p30)

Glad to see you are back! How are the plans for the wedding and Honeymoon going?

June 23, 2007 – Magic Kingdom – Our Final Disney Day :(

Waking up on June 23 was very bittersweet. On the one hand, I was so excited to be going back to the Magic Kingdom, but on the other, I knew it was our last day and we would not be returning until probably 2009. I always hate the last day of a Disney vacation.

Since the last time we were in MK, we were able to see everything we wanted, we decided that today should be a laid back day. DF and I only had a few “must do’s” on our list...

#1 Ride Splash Mountain – my favorite ride
#2 Ride Buzz Lightyear so that DF can try and max out his score
#3 Ride Peter Pan since we didn’t get to last time
#4 Ride Pirates & Small World because you just need to
#5 Get our faces etched into glass Mickey Ears
#6 Get an ornament engraved
#7 Get nighttime castle pictures of us together
#8 Watch Wishes
#9 Get a photopass CD

Anything else we get to ride or see would be just extra and great! When we arrived we decided against taking the monorail in, it seemed everyone was in line for that, we saw that the boat that takes people in was about to board so we ran over to get on. We had never taken the boat ride and it was so much fun. We were on the top floor and got some great views of...

and of course....

the Castle!

I mentioned to DF that we were able to visit each of those hotels on our trip, which I thought was pretty neat. We went to the Contemporary for Chef Mickey’s, the Polynesian for our Luau, and the Grand Floridian for our Wedding Pavilion visit. This made it easier to choose which one we wanted to stay at for our honeymoon! :cool1:

Once we entered MK, we appointed Ken as the official FP runner for the day. We had done it the entire trip and we wanted to waited on this time! He obliged and ran off to Splash Mountain to get a FP. DF and I could really get used to this...:rolleyes1

DF and I ran over to the Tomorrow Land arcade shop so that we could get our glass sculpture with our picture in it. We chose to get the one with the Mickey Ears. We decided to all meet at Pirates and I think everyone else went shopping for a bit.

After we got our picture and ordered our sculpture, the CM told us he would hold it at the store and we could pick it up before we left. We thanked him and left to head towards pirates. But of course, we saw a Photopass photog, and seeing it was our last day, we knew we needed to take lots of pictures so that we make the most out of that Photopass CD.

Now that we got that out of our system, we walked to Pirates to find everyone waiting for us for a change. We hopped in line and saw these guys while we were waiting...

IMG_1658-1.jpg

We all loaded into our pirate ship, all of us got on the same boat along with another few families. Now, none of these families had children (except Matthew), so it was basically an entire boat full of adults, this caused our boat ride to be rather slooooww and at one point Jeff and DF had to push our boat along to keep it moving. We were all cracking up, when we looked behind us, we saw there were 4 or 5 other boats and we were holding up all the traffic. We were all cracking up, but I think the other people in our boat were getting annoyed with us because we were laughing so hard at the fact that our boat wouldn’t move. So if you were on that boat ride, I apologize, but it was one of the funniest moments of our entire trip!

When we finally reached the end of the ride and gained our composure back it was time to go and ride Splash Mountain, but of course, being the planners that we all, we told Ken to get Thunder Mountain FPs first, and to meet us at the entrance of Splash. We loved delegating the tasks!!

We met Ken at Splash Mountain and enjoyed it just as if it was the first time we had ever ridden it. DF and I sat in the back row this time, and we didn’t get too wet. I just love that ride!!

We were really lucky with our FP times again were able to ride Thunder Mountain very shortly after Splash Mountain!

At this point, we were pretty hungry so we quickly grabbed a FP for Buzz Lightyear and grabbed some lunch at Cosmic Rays. I of course got the Chicken Strips and DF got the other Chicken meal. I love those Disney chicken strips as we all know!
Does Cosmic Ray remind anyone of Alf? Who remembers Alf? It was show in the late 80’s early 90’s with the furry brown alien! I love that show, I have all the seasons on DVD and when I saw Cosmic Ray, he totally reminded me of Alf, DF and Jeff thought I was nuts, but what else is new?

With our bellies full, we were ready to take on more of our afternoon at Magic Kingdom.

To Be Continued...

Up Next...DF and I try a Dole Whip!

1 year ago today, DF and I got engaged! It is hard to believe that it has already been a year--it honestly feels like yesterday. Even more exciting is the fact that we have been together for 6 years today and never been apart! :lovestruc But want to know what is even more exciting than that?! The fact that we are getting married in exactly 1 year!!!! :bride: I am so excited!!!

What is also even harder to believe is that it has taken me nearly a year to complete this trip report :rotfl: I need to see what date I started this thing, it is my goal to get it done before 1 year!!

Magic Kingdom Continued...

Since we were so full from lunch we decided to head over to the People Mover (yes, I still call it that). That is one of my favorite “relaxation” rides. I love to just prop my feet up and take it all in. And trust me, it was our final day so I made sure to take in all the sights & sounds Disney has to offer.

After our relaxing ride, DF and I were on a mission to go shopping for some necessary items. We split up from our group and told them we would meet them at the Crystal Palace for our 5:30 ADR and headed off to Main Street for some shopping!

TR013.jpg
One of the shirts I bought. I wear it all the time!

I bought my Nephew a talking Mickey for his birthday among other things, but remember this was a year ago and I have no clue when I bought what...

I *think* we stopped at City Hall to leave our purchases so that we didn’t have to carry them around. One of the things I am looking to most about staying on property is the fact that we can have things delivered to our room, I am very excited about that!!

On our way out of City Hall I noticed that the bench with Roy and Minnie was empty! I wasn’t going to pass up this photo opportunity. I told DF to grab a seat next to Minnie.

IMG_1669.jpg

I just love how this picture turned out with the castle and Main Street bustling in the background. I checked the photo viewer on the camera and approved. MY TURN! I couldn’t wait to have the same picture with the gorgeous background...

IMG_1668.jpg

Um, not so much, Justin. I didn’t notice that until after we got home, but oh well. He had been forgiven....mostly.

I decided that we should next head to the Christmas Store so that I could get DF his engraved anniversary gift which we had promised each other. DF’s gift to me was the Mickey Head with our faces inside, and my gift to him was going to be an Ornament.

I just love the Christmas Store...what could be happier than Christmas in Disney World?

We looked around for the perfect ornament to get engraved. DF really liked the ornaments shaped as Mickey ears so we decided to get one of those in red, very Christmassy.

IMG_1835.jpg

The CM congratulated us on our engagement and wanted to know the entire story of how it happened so of course, I had no problem telling it! She told us that she would gladly send our ornament to the front of the park to be picked up later. We thanked her and now had only 1 mission....to try a Dole Whip!

We walked over to the Dole Whip Stand, and the line was so long, I swear to you, it was the longest line we waited in the entire trip! It never moved. There was another guy in line, who I don’t think had ever been to Disney, complaining about the heat, the lines, everything. He started to talk with us and we found he too was from Illinois. We tried to give him some Disney tips, but I think he was far too cranky to care...fine don’t take our advice.

We finally ordered our Dole Whip, which I hear so much about on the Dis.

IMG_1671.jpg
There it is!

I loved the Dole Whip ! Delicious! I can now see what all the fuss is about and it was worth the nearly 7 hour wait in the sun. But DF, I am sure you are wondering if he liked it...

Well I think this picture will speak for itself.

IMG_1670.jpg

I joke with him that that picture is being blown up and put right above our mantle.

We joyously ate our Dole Whip and still had a little time to kill before dinner. We decided to head over to the fountain where DF proposed a few days earlier to go make another wish. I joke with DF that everytime I make a wish there, I expect something sparkly now. :lmao: Kidding. :rolleyes1

IMG_1675.jpg

I wondered if the penny I threw in was still inside and which one it was.

We wanted someone to take our picture next to the fountain but it was surprisingly not busy and the people that did come through didn’t seem very friendly to say the least. We saw parents pulling their children while they scream and kick, people looking down at a map looking utterly confused, or people on their cell phone yelling that they were supposed to meet them 1 hour ago. We were about ready to take the picture ourselves, but then we saw DF’s mom walking through. She was alone and almost walked completely passed us. We gave her a wave and a little woo hoo and asked her if she would kindly take our picture.

IMG_1678.jpg

She was on her way to Crystal Palace and split off from the group to do some shopping of her own. As we all started towards the Crystal Palace I snapped this picture of the castle, I am very proud as to how it came out.

IMG_1676.jpg

We arrived at the Crystal Palace and our group was surprisingly on time. We checked in with the CM and she noticed our pins, she wanted the entire story too, again, I told it, kind of feeling bad because there was a line of people. She told us there may be a 15 minute wait and they would call us when our table was ready. So we waited and took some great pictures.

We are family...I got all my sisters and me....

100_2560.jpg
And the siblings with the future sister in law, ME!

I was pretty tired and there was no where to sit, so I sat in Matthew’s stroller.

100_2566.jpg

Justin feeling awfully tired too kicked me out of the stroller so that he could have a rest.

100_2564.jpg

Obviously, I fit more comfortably.

We got some weird looks from some people, but didn’t really care. It was our last day and we were allowed to look foolish. They finally called our table and it felt so good to be out of the heat!

At the table we saw this waiting for us..

IMG_1682.jpg

IMG_1683.jpg

I still have the confetti in a bag and it is sitting right next to me as I type this. I like to keep the oddest things.

I wasn’t too hungry for some reason, must’ve been that Dole Whip, so I didn’t get much food. I think I ended up getting a little taste of everything and I remember that it was all delicious.

Finally, the characters started coming around. I was so excited!!

IMG_1684.jpg

100_2507.jpg

Tigger was very excited for us when he found out we were engaged.

100_2537.jpg

Pooh Bear was pretty excited too.

IMG_1690.jpg

Eeyore came around and noticed our pins too. He took my hand to see the ring up close and then gave me a big hug as if he wanted to take me away. I apologized and told him that I already told Justin I would marry him.

Here is his reaction...

IMG_1697.jpg

I tried to console him, but he wouldn’t have it, but eventually he came around and allowed us to take a picture with him.

Continued in Next Post.....

Once we had all our pictures taken we ate our meal and dessert. Matthew was nice enough to make me a special engagement dessert. He was so cute because I think at that moment he finally understood what an engagement meant. He had been hearing the word thrown around all week, but he finally realized that it meant we were getting married. I think he thought that we were already married since I had been around since he could remember.

100_2531.jpg

IMG_1691.jpg

Our waitress then came around with another special surprise for us.

IMG_1700.jpg

She apologized for the birthday card, since she knew we weren’t celebrating a birthday, but said that Pooh and the Gang wanted to make sure we had their autograph.

100_2551.jpg

I don’t think I barely ate our cupcake, I was so full from my special engagement dessert!

After dinner we sent Ken for Peter Pan FPs since we missed the ride last time. We told him to meet us at Buzz Lightyear because it was now time for our Fastpass.

Along the way we spotted some FP photographers so we thought we would take a group shot.

DisneyPhotoImage4.jpg

We made it to Buzz Lightyear, waited for Ken and hopped in the Fastpass return line. I, again, did not do too well, I swear my shooter was broken, it always is! DF got the usual gazillion points. He loves that ride, he turns into such a child when he rides it, it is awfully cute.

Next, we headed over to Space Mountain to burn our FPs for that. We always like to ride Space Mountain after dinner, it makes for more excitement knowing that at any moment someone behind you may hurl.

We had to wait a little bit for Space Mountain, but at least it was indoors and not long.

100_2582.jpg
Great action shot of us in line, don’t know why I look scared...

No one hurled, so that is always a great thing. We walked over to Peter Pan for our Fastpass return line, except we couldn’t find it because it was so darn long! I don’t know what is up with that ride, but whenever we try to ride it, it is always so long. We were in line for over 30 minutes and it was going so sloooow. There was a CM who was making sure the line was moving along and just looking things over she approached us and noticed our pins. Since we weren’t going anywhere fast, she too asked about how it happened, so in case you couldn’t guess, I told her. She then pulled out 2 Anytime Fastpasses and gave them to us for being engaged!! She wasn’t a member of the Dream Team but I consider it a dream! DF and I were thrilled! I felt kind of bad that we got the passes and no one else in our group did. I immediately knew what I wanted to ride with our special passes, SPLASH MOUNTAIN!

Eventually we made it on to Peter Pan, the wait wasn’t so bad now that we had gotten a dream!

Afterwards we split off from the group since everyone wanted to do different things. We all decided to meet at City Hall at the end of the night when everyone was ready to leave.

I wanted to get a good spot for Wishes so we started over to the castle, on the way we saw a Photopass photog and wanted to get some nighttime castle pictures because DF doesn’t know how to set his camera so that he gets good shots.

There was a line of people waiting to get their picture taken, but it was a must, so we waited. Finally, it was our turn and the photographer apologized because he now has to change the batteries in the camera. I think it was his first day on the job because he was fumbling around with the batteries and the camera and then dropped the batteries. DF and I helped him pick them up and helped to hold his camera in place. He was really nice and kept apologizing. We told him no problem and he could just repay us by taking some great pictures. No pressure or anything.

DisneyPhotoImage2.jpg

DisneyPhotoImage1.jpg

We thanked him and went off to find a spot for Wishes. I really just wanted to be near the castle so we pushed (gently) our way to the castle and waited for the show.

All I remember was wanting the show to begin, but then never wanting it to end because the night would be ending and we would be leaving Disney. It was such a weird feeling to have. When the show started, it felt it was over in an instant, and because I am such a big baby, and really emotional, and this trip had been everything I had dreamed and more, I cried and cried and cried. I was happy and I was sad. Wishes always leaves me a little teary at the end, but this time, I was balling.

Poor DF, I don’t think he was really expecting me to react that way, so he just hugged me and told me we would be back, and we came back we would be married. That lifted my spirits just a little!

After Wishes, we were ready to go and ride Splash Mountain. We had never ridden it at night and were surprised how many people were still in line for it. It was so much fun at night and we didn’t get too wet.

Since had seen Spectromagic earlier during our trip we decided to go get another ride in, I really wanted to see Small World. So we headed to Fantasy Land. I was kind of bummed because on either Splash Mountain or Small world, I was hoping for our own log/boat. But it didn’t happen, I guess there were just too many people.

By the time we got off Small World the park was nearly going to close and we remembered we had to go get our Glass Mickey Head at the arcade in Tomorrowland. And we had to go get the Photopass CD and pickup our packages at City Hall. This is where teamwork came in handy. DF gave me all of our Photopass cards and told me to go get in line for the CD, he was going to run to the arcade to pickup our glass mickey head, and we hoped they were still open!

So with that, we split off. Now, trying to get to the building where you a get Photopass CD in the front of the park during SpectroMagic is no easy feat. I was dodging people left and right, all the while singing the Spectro song, in my head of course.

On this magic night......

Sorry.

I made it to the Photopass CD building and wondered if DF had gotten our glass mickey head yet. I had a lot of time to think about it because the line was really long. I had been in line for over 20 minutes and I was beginning to wonder where my fiancé was.

I was still in line when he decided to join me. He had the glass mickey head and told me that there was a mixup. They had told him that they didn’t have our purchase at the arcade because they don’t store things for customers there. DF told him that the CM who took our picture said that it would be fine to pickup, but they insisted that it was probably in City Hall. Well, DF was not about to leave and go to City Hall so they could close up shop. He knew it had to be in the arcade, because the CM specifically told him to come back here and be sure it is before closing because they do lock up.

I guess eventually they did find it behind the counter and it was a good thing that DF didn’t listen to them. We also got our Photopass CD made, it was fun to see all of our pictures and relive our trip through the photos. The CM helping us was very nice and was telling us that should have a Disney Wedding. At the time, it was a definite possibility.

After we had our CD and picked the pictures we wanted to print since we had some free prints available to us, we went to City Hall to pick up the rest of our stuff, we found a bench with some of DF’s family waiting for us. Some others were still shopping, we never seem to leave MK!

Jeanne had gotten us something and wanted us to open it. It was also from the Christmas store...

TR012.jpg

TR011.jpg

That was very sweet of them to get that for us, and I love how it says Happy Anniversary since we had been celebrating it the day we got engaged.

We gathered all of our stuff and began to head out, but not before looking back to say goodbye to the castle and Main Street. It was very hard to leave because the trip had been so wonderful, so magical. I always have a hard time leaving Disney, but this year was the hardest of them all. I began to get teary again, but fought it off, I think I had gotten it all out during Wishes.

Thinking back, it was definitely a trip of Million Dreams, Wishes, and Surprises and I cannot wait to go back with my husband for our long awaited Disneymoon!

(Wedding Planning Journal & Pre Trip Report coming soon!)

Great last day at MK.... just think it how great it will be next trip as Mr. and Mrs. I love the ornaments.... DH and I have our honeymoon one, and both girls have their personalized ones from their first trip... special keepsakes!

So do you have a job for the fall- I am a bit confused!

No, no job yet for next year. My long term subbing was for the end of this year only, the teacher is coming back next year. I am applying like crazy though and keeping my fingers crossed. Getting a teaching job is tough, I have been on a few interviews, but they always say I do well, but they are looking for more experience. It is so frustrating!! :worried: Hopefully, something will come along ! Gotta keep hoping!

It's taken me several weeks to be able to finish your trip report, but I loved every minute of it! Now it's time to begin reading your planning journal!
