Trip: Rather Belated Honeymoon
Date: September 9-15
Cast:
DH - Mad & Crazy Disney Nut who just HAD to return after missing his trip in 2004 to go to Vegas (first year he hadn't been since birth)
DW - New Bride who had never experienced Disney...yes indeed it was her first time, see, there are still Disney Virgins out there if you can believe that. Hope she likes it...don't know what I'll do if she doesn't?
September 8 - We checked into the Best Western Lake Buena Vista on for two nights and went straight over to Downtown Disney. As soon as we walked out to the lake, she was hooked...and I do mean hooked. We did all the shops, some more than once and had a wonderful dinner at Bongos. I'm trying to build her up to total shock as she saw the complete Disney Experience. Before now, she had only been to amusment parks such as Six Flags, Cedar Point and Paramount Parks...so this is what she was expecting out of Disney. LET THE SHOCK BEGIN.
September 9 - We go to Universal Orlando and buy a two park/one day ticket. Since the place was dead, we were confident we would have no trouble seeing both parks. This was the prelude to Disney and just seeing this made her mouth drop. We started with the Hulk coaster and she loved it, but hey its still a coaster, let the themed rides begin. What better choice next but Spider Man and this ride changed the way she viewed rides forever. We made our way through Islands of Adventure and were actually done by around 11am, it has to be some sort of record. We finished both parks by 4pm and had dinner at Hard Rock and back to our most uncomfortable bed for a nap. By this time I could tell that she now thought Disney was similar to Universal, everything all together and walkable....WRONG ANSWER.
September 10 - Off to Pop Century to check in for a wonderful six days with free dining (can't get much better can it?). The guy sees that its our honeymoon and we get a poolside first floor room for the price of a standard...hey, things are getting better already. Leave the luggage, park the car and catch the bus to Animal Kingdom.
We managed to do everything in the Animal Kingdom by lunchtime...just in time for Tusker House and it was awesome...best lunch ever. NOW I can't take it anymore...I MUST GET TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM!!!
We head to the Magic Kingdom and it was here that she was now a Disney Nut for life. As soon as we both saw the castle down main street, it just brought tears to our eyes...what a wonderful site. Dinner was at Cindy's Royal Table and our table had confetti on it for our Honeymoon. We got the royal treatment indeed, topped off with Slipper deserts for each of us and champagne as well....they really treat people great on special occasions. This had to be the best Fillet we had ever eaten, we're talking melt in your mouth.
The next day was Epcot/MGM and we hit at least two parks a day the rest of the trip. She loved the countries at Epcot, we made three trips through all the countries during our trip. DW even got the passport and had all the countries sign it, she was thrilled. We bought a ton of stuff for the house at China, Japan and Mexico. DW even told me that Epcot had "changed" her...she had always had a dislike for people from Japan after seeing various movies about WWII. After seeing the countries and the people at Epcot, she had a new found respect and was very interested in their cultures and language...we spent a great deal of time in the different countries. Looks like Epcot did its job.
We rode Mission Space at least 4 or 5 times, Soarin' twice, RRC twice among others. The longest we waited in line for anything was like 10-15 minutes and that was one ride, soarin'. Walked onto MS, TOT, RRC, all the mountain rides, you name it and we didn't have to wait in line for it....big bonus. In the end, we didn't want to leave and she cried when we did....ok, well I did too but hey I'm already a Disney Fanatic right?
:
We ate at Cindy's Royal Table, Le Cellier (incredible), Mama Melrose's, Chef Mickey's Breakfast, Ohana', Concourse Steakhouse....loved 'em all. Hey, you can't beat free food can ya? In all, we ate over $650 in food and didn't pay a penny. Everyone did something special for our Honeymoon, champaign and special deserts, they went over the top and really made our trip memorable. We took 500 pictures and Disney photo pass took another 122...so we got tons upon tons of photos.
She was already planning a trip in May before we even got back home....she's bit by the bug and has to have more. I'm glad she likes Disney as much as I do...now I don't have to worry about those pesky divorce papers....KIDDING, only KIDDING!!!!
