Hello Everyone! I'm so excited to finally get started on my TR! We had just the most magical time, from Saturday, June 5th-Thursday, June 10th, 2010 at Wilderness Lodge. I'll start off by introducing our Cast of Characters!

Moi- Allegra, 27. I am an absolute Disney fanatic that cries every time I see the Castle for the first time. I love Disney so much I have a Snow White tattoo to show my love for the first Disney princess of all time, Walt's masterpiece :) I love food, love thrills, and LOVE MAGIC! And princesses of course lol.

DH- Mike, 30. I am so lucky to have found a husband who loves Disney and the Magic (not the Orlando Magic, the DISNEY Magic of course  :rotfl: ) just as much as I do. He is also a lover of food and thrills, but discovered his new true Disney OBSESSION on this trip...HIDDEN MICKEYS!!!!!

(This is our best man Officer Brian and DH! :) )

Next I'll give you just a little bit of back story as to why our first Anniversary trip was really a Disneymoon take two. Last year we were married June 5th, 2009. We were leaving for Disney Sunday June 7th for 4 nights, then off to Costa Rica. I got sick on the plane ride down to Disney, and was sooooo so so sick practically the entire time I was there. I couldn't move from the bed, it was bad. DH took SUCH good care of me, even though I was really upset and inconsolable really. I was missing my Disneymoon at the Poly, Club Level!! (It was a really nice place to be sick, I'll tell you that!). Anyway, we never, ever thought we would be able to afford to go back to Disney for a long time. We had no trips planned, nothing, and then in March I got a 40% off PIN for our anniversary dates! We couldn't believe it! We were sooo happy, but still weren't sure we could afford it. When I called to see about prices with the PIN, the CM was so great! When he went to look up my PIN, he said let me see if I can get you a package pin. He put me on hold for a few minutes, but when he came back he said This PIN goes across the board! It included the room discount AND dining plan! We were amazed at our pixie dust! We called back to book the next day, and here we are!

We decided on Wilderness Lodge Club Level, because we wanted to try and do a real Disneymoon as best we could. We definitely weren't on a Poly budget this year! We decided on the DDP, and made our ADR's. Then we started thinking...Since we were getting 40% off the dining plan as well, we were going to try DxDDP. There were so many Signature restaurants that we were dying to try, and with the discount we just couldn't say no! So we buckled down and changed our ADR's and touring plan a bit, but we were set!

I, of course, planned a few special surprises for DH along the way. I love surprising him, and this was no exception! You'll read about the In-Room Celebration From Mickey and Minnie with Love, as well as the Wildlife Discovery Excursion at Animal Kingdom. You'll have to read on to see how they turned out, and most importantly, if he liked them or not! :thumbsup2

First entry, Day One, up next!

I'm in and can't wait to read more. I have never heard of a package PIN code....that's awesome for you!!!

I love the Snow White tattoo btw:cool1:

Day One: Saturday June 5th, 2010- Our Anniversary!

Our day began very early, at 4:45 am. Our town car was coming at 6:00 am to take us to JFK Airport for our 8:00 am JetBlue flight to Orlando. Normally my parents take us to the airport, but they were out of town, so we decided to splurge on a Town Car! It was really nice and easy, worth the $62 for sure! Once we got to the airport, we went through security easily, then DH grabbed a bagel, and I grabbed some carrot and celery sticks for later. I also got my magazine fix for the flight! Our flight was super smooth, and we ended up getting in at just after 10:00 am. Our flight was scheduled to land at 10:45, so BONUS!!! We hopped off the plane and got our butts on the tram, then down to the Magical Express check in area. We were very happy to find an almost empty check in, and very shortly were right up at the front of the bus to the Magic Kingdom Resort Area!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Little did DH know I was about to embarrass the crap out of him in about 2.3 minutes...:rotfl:

CHEESE!!!! US ON THE BUS!!! EXCUSE DH'S SCRUFFY BEARD!!! :scared1:

DisneyAnniversaryTrip011.jpg

As soon as the bus was loaded up, the bus driver got on the microphone and said "Does anyone know what attraction this music is from?" and began playing "It's a big, bright, beautiful tomorrow..." :thumbsup2 So what do I do? To DH's horror, I scream (yeahh it was a scream) out "CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS!!!!!!!" and he was very impressed. DH, not so much :scared1:  I was thoroughly impressed with my Disney Nerd-dom, and sat back to happily enjoy the quick ride to my favorite place in the world!!!!!!!!

DisneyAnniversaryTrip010-2-1.jpg

It took us no time to stop by the Poly and the GF to drop off, then we were off to Wilderness Lodge!!! I couldn't WAIT for DH to get the feel for staying at the Lodge. It's just the best! I had taken him on a tour of the Lodge on our first trip together, because we had a rental car. He loved it, but there's just something really special about staying there. But I digress, and we are now at the Club Level check-in podium in the lobby at 11:15 am! We learned that our room was ready, and Jim would take us up to the room first. Up we went to the 7th floor of the WL (separated by key card access). He took us around to our room, and then explained that we would go back to the podiums outside the elevators to finish checking in as soon as we were ready. We thanked him and gave him a couple of bucks, and sent him on his way. This is what we walked in to, in room 7050:

DisneyAnniversaryTrip015-1.jpg

DisneyAnniversaryTrip017-1.jpg

Then we went out onto the balcony to check out our view. When I first stepped out there I looked down and saw a maintenance area, and a murky bog. Then I looked up and saw SPACE MOUNTAIN PRACTICALLY RIGHT THERE!!! Then DH said "Space Mountain?? Do you see the Castle?!?!" And right there before my eyes was Cinderella Castle! Then the monorail went by!!! And of course the Contemporary Resort. I just could not believe the pixie dusted view. Of course, we never looked down again!! :rotfl:

After fully scoping out the room, we decided to go to the CM's by the elevators and check in. We had bought a one day park hopper on our current package, but the other park days were from our tickets last year, that we made non-expiration since I was sick and we ended up using 2 park days at the end of the trip. We went over to the CM podium, and learned that we had an extra day on our park passes from last year! We had forgotten how many days were left, and we thought we only had 3 days left but we had 4!! Pixie dust!! Instead of a resort exploring day, we were able to go over to Magic Kingdom!! Before finishing check in, I remembered that I had asked the Club Level IPO to get us 2 ponchos before our arrival. I hadn't seen them in the room, so I asked Jennifer about them. She said, Oh they're there we bought them for you today. They're IN the bed...You read correctly, she said IN the bed. I was like, IN the bed? She said, yes that was what we were asked to do, put them in the bed. I assured her I had not asked for them to be put in the bed, and DH and I walked away laughing our guts off. I promised him I didn't ask for that, and when we got back to the room, I proceeded to pull back the comforter looking for the ponchos, IN the bed...

DisneyAnniversaryTrip026-1.jpg

Buuuut no ponchos! We even looked in the OTHER bed! So now I'm like, this is super weird. So I go back to the podium, and now Debbie is there. I said hello to Debbie, and explained that we were having trouble finding the Ponchos IN the bed. She said, oh no they're there. Did you check under the sheets?? I'm like nooo I didn't check under the sheets!!!! So she followed me back to the room, and waited outside while I went and checked under the sheets. Sure enough she had tightly made the bed around these freaking ponchos!!! I thanked her kindly and seriously burst out laughing so hard!!! OMFG!!! These people must think I'm crazy!! Why did they think I wanted the ponchos IN the bed?!?!?! So all week DH and I would laugh when going by the podium, because they must have thought we were really nuts with that "request"!!!!

Wow, now back to our day!! We decided to go check out the resort. We had a 1:45 pm ADR for Whispering Canyon Cafe, but lots of time before that. I took DH out by the pool, then by the boat dock. Then I suggested trying to go eat lunch right away, and then hop over to MK for a few hours. DH was game! So we made our way over to WCC to see if they could accommodate us early. We got there at around noon, or a little after. They sat us with no problem, and we had a really yummy lunch! Of course we were already TOO stuffed to eat the dessert, even on the first meal! So we took the S'mores Cheesecake and Kahlua chocolate cake to go, and put them in our fridge for later consumption! Then we hopped a 5 minute bus ride over to MK. That's the BEST thing about the WL, the 5 minute bus ride to MK!

Upon walking into MK (which was not part of our plan for the day if you'll remember) I see a SEA of red. I turn to DH and excitedly say "OMG GAY DAYS!!!!!!!" I had totally forgotten that today was the MK day for Gay Days!!! I was happy to see so many happy people in love!! I would say about twenty to thirty percent of the crowd was wearing red. The park was busy, but really not crazy at all, IMO. We walked through Adventureland and decided to try and go on Pirates, since it was so hot. We got onto the line for pirates, which looked to be about a 15 minute wait. No problem, it was air conditioned! Unfortunately, a CM came out just as we were walking into the building and said the ride was broken down indefinitely. So we left. Boo. But we walked over to Hall of Presidents, and did that instead. DH and I haven't done it since Obama has been added, and we also realized that we hadn't been on it on our last 2 trips, because we hadn't seen the whole 9/11 part. It was really intense to watch, especially being from NY and having lived that terror firsthand. Seeing the whole NY skyline without the towers, on that huge screen was really tough. I'm glad I had my DH next to me. After HOP, we decided to walk through Fantasyland and see the construction walls and all. There were Many! We stopped by Enchanted Grove and got a raspberry lemonade slushie and a Smartwater. Well basically I convinced DH he wanted a raspberry lemonade slushie, and he was SO happy he got it! So happy that when we walked by Carousel of Progress (!!!!!!) he took one look at his drink and said, I'm not trashing it! :rotfl: So we kept walking and taking in the day. We decided to make our way back to WL, and walked through the shops on Main Street on our way out.

Once we were back at the Lodge, we went back to the room to shower and get ready. I had a few tricks up my sleeve (aka the In-Room celebration) so I had to get DH out of the room by no later than 6:45 pm. While we were getting ready we enjoyed cheese, bread, and veggies from the Club lounge in our room. I also had a glass of Chardonnay which was nice. Once we were ready to go out, we took the back elevator down to the boat dock to catch the boat to the Contemporary.

We decided to do Drinks Around the Monorail before our anniversary dinner at Cali Grill. We had some time to kill for sure! We started off at the Wave bar and lounge. We found a nice little table for two in the lounge area. I decided to have a Magical Star, and DH decided on the Agave Nectar Margarita. Both were soooo good!! OMG!! DH's was really strong and yummy. I love margaritas!! My Magical Star came with a glow cube, which I was wayyyy too amused by!!

After finishing up at The Wave, we decided to hit up the monorail, but skip the Poly and move on to GF since we stayed at Poly and were familiar with the vibe there. We were ready to check out the GF style! So we hopped off the monorail and went back to Mizner's to enjoy the amazing Jazz band, and some cocktails. DH had a Classic Patron Margarita, and I had a glass of Rosa Regale. DH's cocktail was SUPER strong! WOW! My Rosa Regale (a red sparkling wine) was light, sweet, and refreshing. But now our tummies were grumblin! We hopped back on the monorail and headed back over to the Contemporary to check in for dinner.

Check in for Cali Grill was smooth, and soon enough we were on an elevator up to the top of the resort. The views up there are unparalleled. We love the atmosphere up there, it's stylish and fun. We waited about 10 minutes for our buzzer to go off, and we were seated in the back of the restaurant, near a window. At this point it was 9:15 pm and we were sooo tired! We had been up since 4:45 am!! Our server Jose was great, and we shared delicious sushi rolls as appetizers. After we finished our main course, DH went to the bathroom and I grabbed our server to confirm our cakes. I had ordered two miniature wedding cakes for our dessert! I told our server I was going to keep the surprise going by ordering a dessert for DH and I to share off the menu, and then he would bring out the cakes! So when DH got back, I ordered the bananas and caramel. We then waited quite a bit for the desserts, but when they came out it was well worth the wait! Jose came over and placed the banana dessert down. DH then looks at the cakes on his tray and goes "Oh wow! Look at those miniature wedding cakes!" And I just grinned!! Jose put them down, and DH almost didn't get that they were for us!!! He was utterly confused! Then I explained and he was so excited!! We only had a few bites of the cakes, but Chef Brian came through sooo well. The cakes were just what I had wanted!

DisneyAnniversaryTrip069.jpg

They were able to box up the cakes for us to take back to the room. By this point I could barely walk! We were soooo tired. We made our way down to the front of the Resort, and hopped in a cab back to WL. At this point I was sooo nervous about the In Room Celebration....My heart was pounding!! We got up to the room, and opened the door....And this is what we saw!!!

It was amazing!!! DH was like "What did you do??" He loved it! We started looking around the room to find all the different things left by the Disney Florist team. There were a dozen pixie dusted roses, the 3 LED pillar candles, the Tinkerbell's shadow thing, the embroidered towels and spa basket, the rose petals and chocolates, the matted signed print, and as a big surprise to me, the autograph books I had asked for were SIGNED BY MICKEY MOUSE!! AMAZING!!! We were both like little kids, looking at everything. The roses were beautiful, and really added to the decor of the room for the week. We were just amazed. We sat out on our balcony and took in the view for a few minutes, before going to bed to get a good night's sleep! We had to be up at 6 am for morning extra magic hours at EPCOT!!!

Thank you so much!! The package was called From Mickey and Minnie with Love, and it's an In-Room Celebration through Disney Florist. You can go to www.disneyflorist.com to read more about it. It's expensive-$275 (the autograph books and pens were additional, they just added the cost on to the package) plus a $25 delivery fee I believe. It was worth every penny for our 1 year anniversary. The dozen pixie dusted roses alone from Disney Florist are $100!!! So I really felt we got our money's worth with everything we got in the package.

Hi! I ordered the cakes through Chef Brian, the pastry chef at the Contemporary. They were $25 each, which I thought was a great price! They can do pretty much anything you want over there, for a price of course. I was quoted $160 for a cake with my specific flavors and fillings, which was wayyy too much.

The in-room celebration was through Disney Florist. You can go to www.disneyflorist.com and see all the different packages they can do for you. What we got was called From Mickey and Minnie with Love. See my above post for more info!

Thanks for reading!! :goodvibes:goodvibes

What an awesome website! Thanks for sharing. Now I need to plan a trip just so I can use it! ;)

The poncho story is classic! And I love the little anniversary cakes - I was thinking of doing something like that for our 1st anniversary this year, but thought they would be really expensive. $25 isn't bad at all!

YES you must plan a trip, then plan a surprise from Disney Florist!! It's not something I can afford to do every trip, but for very special occasions we can always squeeze something in!!

Love the report so far! Am still cracking up over the poncho's!!

Thanks! Omg, the ponchos was just unreal, soooo funny!!!! :rotfl:

Omg again, I could laugh about that poncho situation over and over again. I think what may have happened is I may have made a typo in my email to them asking them to just leave them ON the bed for us. All I can think of is if I sent it from my bb, I may have written IN???? I don't know!!! Too funny!!!

I loved your food report and I can't wait to hear about your trip!

Thank you!! I will be able to write more soon!! My job is sucking the life out of meeeee :sad2:
