Myself - 38 Researcher and neurotic planner of all things
DH - 38 Definitely not a planner, but willing to go along with just about anything.
DD - 16 We surprised her by celebrating her 16th birthday during this trip. Her birthday was actually July 1st, but due to younger DDs softball schedule, the trip had to be postponed until now. She didnt know that this would still be considered her birthday trip.
DD - 11 (Will be 12 in September and already considers herself a teenager.)
Sunday, August 4, 2002 - Magic Kingdom Day!! We got a wake up call at 7:16 a.m. from Stitch and everyone jumped up and was ready for our day. We had breakfast at the ASMo food court and drove on over to MK.
I dont care how many times youve been to DW, theres nothing like the feeling you get when you walk onto Main Street. Thats my Disney moment...every time. That being said...we rushed on over to Space Mountain for a FP (our first trip with FP and we
LOVED it!) and then got into the standby line (about 10 minutes) for a quick ride. We then used our FP and rode again. We got FP for Buzz and then rode the TTA before we returned to use our FP for Buzz. Now, I had done a little research before we left so
that I could kick everyones butt in Buzz, well either I was given bad information by you guys (LOL) or I really stink at this ride!! I prefer to think that I ALWAYS had the misfortune of having a faulty laser, yeah, faulty laser, thats the ticket...
Off to get a FP for Pooh and then we did Small World and Snow White. The line for Peter Pan was 45 minutes (I cant understand this, its a cute ride, but why is the line always so much longer for this ride than the others?), so we bypass this and head back
to use our Pooh FPs. We head over to get FPs for HM and the kids decide that they also want to do the stand by line. DH and I decide to do a little shopping (bought the 100 years Christmas ornament - I always get an ornament from our vacation destinations) and then the kids meet up with us. Its now time for our HM FPs.
We head on over for our PS at Cindys. Our PS wasnt until 3:00 p.m., but its noon and were starving, so we decide to go ask. No problem and were seated in about 5 minutes. While we waited downstairs, DD 11 got Cindys autograph. She sittig
on her throne holding court. We had wondered if DD 11 would be interested in getting autographs on this trip. As it turned out, if we were at a character meal, shed do it, but she wasnt interested in standing in line to see a character. What a relief!! I know its fun to have little ones who still believe, but once youve done that several times, and stood in line for countless hours, having older kids is liberating!! Back to lunch, I had the chicken caesar salad which I didnt care for at all. They use some sport of spice on the chicken that gives it a licorice flavor. I just ate the lettuce and was disappointed. DD 16 had Major Domos Pie (very good), DH had the Royal Poulet (what I wish I wouldve gotten) and DD 11 had the smoothie in the Glass Slipper and chicken
nuggets. The server came out and sprinkled Mickey confetti on DD 16 and announced that she was celebrating her royal sweet 16th birthday. She brought over a proclamation (certificate) and a cupcake and sang to her. She was very surprised. Even though the food was so-so, I absolutely love being in the castle.
We headed over to get a FP for Splash and then onto POC where we were seated behind 4 young men who apparently had never heard of deodorant. I think while they are checking your bags at the entrance, they should also do a mandatory squirt of deodorant. All in favor... We decided we felt like sitting a bit, so we did the Tiki Room (seems shorter than it used to be). It began to look like a storm and there was some lightening, so they shut down Splash and BTMR. We did the Jungle Cruise
(still pretty lame). We ran into one of DD 11's friends and former coaches and chatted with them for a while.
By this time, we were getting hungry for dinner and we headed over to Cosmic Rays and had burgers, cruised around Toontown and then over to get a FP for BTMR. The rides were still closed due to lightning, and our FP time for Splash was over, but we were advised that we could still get a FP for BTMR and use both of them at any time that evening. We went back on POC where we were able to sit and enjoy and take in the fresh air this time
around. Then onto the Hall of Presidents. By this time BTMR was open so we did that and then Splash and decided to call it a night. It's good to be back in DW!!
Tomorrow, Princess Storybook Breakfast...
