Time to get busy packing, cleaning, and shopping :D

Here's the pictures of our new house that my DH took a couple weeks ago when the inspectors came.

I've got some painting to do, but we're keeping the crazy retro red and white kitchen.

The shutters are going to be painted wedgewood blue to match the hydrangeas I am planting in the front and we're replacing the door and the storm door

Congratulations Jenn! That's so exciting. That's a great house too. It has a lot of character. Plus, I hear it's a great location, close to important stores. :)

Jenz, this is awesome. I know you've been thinking about this for a long time and the day is finally here! Are you sure that the hydrangeas are going to come in blue and not purple?

Very Cute!!!
Buying a home is exciting & stressful! Take care!

The hydrangeas are definitely blue - they are coming from a special hybrid that my aunt has. They're wedgewood blue :D

How cute! What character :) Is this an older home? It has a "classic" look about it.

Congrats!!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you! If you close 2 weeks from Friday, we may be closing the same day!

Congratulations on your beautiful home....:D

jenn - i know exactly what color hydrangeas you are talking about -- they are very popular where my grandparents live. there they are almost sky blue!

It's a Cape built in 1940. It's a pretty typical style for the area. It's a lot bigger than it looks. Again, pretty typical for a Cape LOL

It's not the farmhouse that I wanted built in 1775, but it's closer to work for DH and I and there is very little that needs to be done with it. We're planning on expanding the 2nd fl next year.

I count 1940's as "classic", and anything 1800's or older as "historical" :teeth:

Again, it's cute. :)

Congratulations Jen!! I love Cap Cods (what we have) and yours is particularly nice looking. Good luck with the move and all that!

Caity - they are almost exactly like that, except they have splashes of white on them :D

Congrats!!! I was thinking about that this morning -- truly -- thinking I had missed it. The house looks great!

And take a soil pH at your aunt's house so you can mimic the color exactly. The color in hydrangeas are influenced by soil composition as well as variety.

(just another thing to add to the moving to do list) :)

No, you didn't miss it.. I just didn't want to post anything until we knew for certain.

I guess I'm pretty superstitous ;) I have my H.O. Insurance all set - just need to pay the year in advance Thursday and wait for the title search to finish and we're going to be all set.

Thanks for the heads up about the soil. I'm going to swing by her house at lunch time and get a sample.

Congratulations! It is so much fun to move into a new house.

That is so true about the soil pH.....we have some hydrangeas, and even on the same bush we have pink, blue and purple flowers because the soil pH changes in the little area that they are planted in. I don't know what the original color of the hydrangeas are supposed to be: pink? blue? Who knows. I love hydrangeas, and I think that would be a great idea to match the shutters to their color!
