Hello ladies.
Candace, you're getting SOOOO CLOSE!I hope the day-of goes well when you drop them off at school.
Magic and Koh: (Who else proclaimed their Libra-dom?) I'm on the 20th. Yep, always weighing up the possibilities, aren't we? Although that goes for all of us, despite our zodiac-leaning tendencies.
Dani: Yep, the Jets.![]()
My main fantasy team is not doing well, to put it mildly (and family-friendly).
Jen: I was DYING laughing at your skunk story!Shall I send my dog up? She's good at finding them.
You'll have to keep her afterward though.
Ginny: Nice change! And that gives you something for DH and something for you.
I'm missing lots of replies here. Sorry. My brain has just returned to normal, somewhat-limited function again after my germy stint from last week. But lots of hugs and good thoughts for you all...
So, on the Disney front... I did something awful (or smart) depending on how you cut it:
I cancelled our CG annnnnd our backup reservation to Bluezoo.I was sitting there playing with the FP+ stuff and it kinda dawned on me, why am I booking all this stuff on our first night there? Couldn't sleep yesterday because of it bugging me.
The day we get in, it's our anniversary but -- the whole REAL reason we're going in the first place is to celebrate hub's 40th. The next morning, at 8:30, we've got breakfast at the castle. With having dinner at CG, even though it was early, and all the travel (and getting gussied up) involved with getting there from BWI, it just didn't seem like a smart thing.
Asked the hubs about it before cancelling and he said, "You know? I'd be just as happy getting a sandwich from Starring Rolls and heading over to go on Star Tours for our anniversary. It's just special being at Disney. If we were just stuck here on our anniversary, then we'd go out and have a nice dinner somewhere. That "somewhere nice" is being at Disney itself." Love that guy.So, more moolah in the coffers for F&W -- sounds good to me.

Miss... I couldn't agree more. WDW is the prize. You've a wise and wonderful DH.
Sometimes when you get all the specifics down and take a break from them, when you return the master plan doesn't look nearly as good as it originally did piece-meal, so then it's Tweaking Time. Muuuuuuahhhhhhahaha!
DH and I love our EOS and Casey's hot dogs just as much as CG and Shula's (and our Sci Fi, and Hoop-de-Doo, too!). The main thing is that the day-to-day "master plan" has got to "work" and not feel hurried or stressful.![]()
Change needs to happenMet with Steven's teachers today and they both said how frustrated he got from being behind from the two days he missed when he was sick last week. There is no way I can pull him out for a week in Feb and expect it not to have major backlash. Don't know what I am going to do. Don't know if DH will even talk to me about this. Don't know when we will even talk about it. Ugh, ugh, ugh.

Wookie: Wow, what an adventure! So sorry you were motions sick, it is such an awful awful feeling. I too should not go on Everest, I totally understand where you are coming from. And WTH about the treatment of you and your son at that festival???
How rude and sad. But I am glad for your pixie dust upgrade at AKL, that is super!
Melissa: Ack, so sorry you are doubting your trip. I worry about pulling the kids too.
Hi to everyone else. So our drama, DD9 is now in a walking cast for 4-6 weeks. The sore foot, can't run on it foot, has been feeling like that for 3 weeks foot actually has a small fracture. I really really want to tell DH I told you so, mom's antenna was up on this one. I just KNEW there was something wrong, and DH kept saying it is 'no big deal'.
Anyway, hopefully she will be out of it before our trip. But if not, we will be renting a double stroller instead of a single.
Jen

You can't ROOT for the Jets. You just watch, expecting the worst and hoping for the best.![]()

Hello again everyone!!We're finally home from a trip that ran at times was wonderful, others had be throwing up, and yet others had me being asked to leave a festival and being threatened with a police escort out.
Friday we got to Biloxi, ate dinner, checked into the hotel and went to bed. Saturday we got up, drove to Gulf Shores, AL (where I went to several summers as a kid). We only stayed long enough to take the DSs picture on the beach, before heading to Orlando. We checked into the Swan, and immediately got a bus to DtD to see Riddick. The employees at the Swan were wonderful, but the resort itself is in need of some TLC.
Sunday, we checked into the AKL and got the news about the savanna view pixie dusted upgrade. After eating lunch at The Mara, we went to the MK.
Monday was spent at Epcot, and I got to pick a pearl in Japan. We ate lunch at Coral Reef (the Mahi Mahi was amazing) and dinner at Teppan Edo (where everything was great). Our chef was from Kobe, Japan, which is the town my DH's sister is named after.
Tuesday was supposed to have been a MK day, but we decided to hang out at the resort pool until our 'Ohana ADR. Our feet were killing us from Epcot. We all LOVED 'Ohana!! The bread pudding was.
Wednesday was a DHS day. We started out the day with RnRC on empty stomachs. I had taken my ginger pills for a week before, taken a Bonine pill, was wearing a motion sickness patch behind my ear, and had Sea Bands on. All of that helped me not throw up......while I was on the ride at least. Thank goodness they have trash cans as you exit the ride, because I put that thing to good use. I spent some time laying down in the first aid. I did feel better though after getting lunch at Pizza Planet. We ate dinner that night at Mama Melrose's and I didn't like it as much this time. I didn't care for my steak at all. When we got back to the AKL, the DH took the boys to the pool so I could sleep.
Thursday was AK. We had just enough time to ride Dinosaur before our Yak & Yeti ADR. The lettuce cups were super yummy, but I didn't like my entree (Maple Tamarind Chicken). Then we got on EE, and I knew walking up to it that I shouldn't have gotten on it. I just thought I was being paranoid since it didn't bother me the last time I rode it. I was fine, until the backward section. This time, I didn't make it off the ride. They had to hold the car for about 5 or so minutes for the clean up. I went to the first aid, but I felt like I was going to pass out on the way there. While I laid down, the DH took the boys to ride some stuff. The nurse there said that once you get motion sick, you are more prone to it for the next several days and suggested I ride only easy stuff for the rest of our trip. When they came back to get me, it was flooding. The boys took turns pushing my wheel chair to the bus stop. The boys and I did the night time animal viewing while the DH went to the laundry center to start laundry (I hope y'all were all sitting down when you read that because I am sure some of you fainted, like I did when he suggested it.) After the DSs and I were done, I sent them to the room to watch tv and I joined the DH in the laundry room. We had a nice chat with two women from CA while there.
Friday we slept in a little, swam in the pool a little, and then went to the AK so I could go on the safari I missed on our AK day (but the guys went on, which was fine). Instead of going back to the AKL to get to the MK for MNSSHP, I got the idea to take the bus to the GF so we could see the lobby. As soon as we walked in I was like. The DH agreed that we would stay there on our next kidless trip. MNSSHP was great except Joey losing his Dallas Cowboy hat on Splash Mountain. I have never seen this kid react this way. He was literally crying.
Saturday, we got up, ate lunch, used the rest of our snack credits, and drove to Ocean Springs, MS (which is in the Biloxi area). We should not have used Priceline for this one. The first room she gave us a key to only had a King sized bed, the 2nd one had a "do not disturb sign" and the keys wouldn't work, the 3rd one I didn't notice until later that it had drops of something red on the back of the bathroom door that I thought looked like blood (but the DH thought I was over reacting).
Sunday, we got up and met one of the DH's cousin's in Biloxi at the Seafood Festival. It was $5 to get in and $5 for the all you can eat gumbo tasting for the gumbo contest. Well JM will not touch gumbo, and so I didn't buy it for him, but everyone else got it. When we got to the gumbo area, it was fenced in. When they found out JM was over 12 and didn't buy a ticket for the gumbo, they wouldn't let him in. They said we had to leave him out. I said, he has mild Autism Spectrum Disorder and I don't feel comfortable leaving him out here, and there is no way he will touch any gumbo. I was told if they let everyone in that was over 12 and didn't pay, it would be too crowded. I stayed out with JM, but the more I thought about it, the more upset I got. I politely went and asked for my money back and the woman insisted on giving me back my money for the gumbo and the entrance. I took that money and bought JM and I snowcones. When we got back, the lady was talking to the guy, that wouldn't let my son in, and acting like I had been rude, when I hadn't been. I went up and asked where I could talk to the people putting it on and he said he was. I told him that I hadn't been rude to her, and that I didn't appreciate her talking about me like that loud enough for me to hear it. Also, that again the reason I wanted my money back was there was no way I was leaving my 14 year old son with mild Autism Spectrum Disorder alone to go into the gumbo area and it was ridiculous that he would take up any more room than the big butt strollers that people were taking small children in. He said that he hadn't said anything about the space issues, and I said he did. He again said he didn't say that and I again politely disagreed. It was at that point that I was told if I didn't leave, they would have the police escort me out. Needless to say, I left very unhappy. The festival is put on my their chamber of commerce and I am seriously thinking of sending them an email about it. After everyone else was done eating gumbo, the DH's cousin showed us around the Hard Rock hotel and Casino, since he works there, or at least the parts are kids could go into. Then we drove home.
The DH has moved up when he wants to go to WDW next. Instead of it being for our 85th wedding anniversary, he's saying 2030. I'm breaking him down already.
Well I'm off to start laundry, dinner, and get pictures downloaded.
Wookie - I think no vacation is complete without its ups and downs but as long as the ups outweigh the downs it's a great vacation! Sorry you had some of those downs but it sounds like overall it was a great trip!
Jen - oh no on DD!!!! Poor baby!! Hope she heals quickly and does okay in Nov. oh and your skunk story the other night had me LOL!!!
It's been a hectic few days, my parents ended up coming to stay with us for a few days so they could attend a funeral down in Miami. Plus the meeting at school yesterday for Steven, and today is volunteer orientation at the kid's school. I'll be back latter today to catch up.
But I do have an official change....BLT and all my ADRs are no moreI did book CR for Jan 4-6 to help ease the sting just a bit.

I can imagine your son being upset over losing his hat.
All in all you had quite the mixed bag on this trip.

Other than the long trek to your room, did you love AKL? I switched from BWI to AKL a day or so after seeing your trip pics, of course I blamed you.I have my fingers crossed Bob will love AKL as much As I did my first stay there.

January trip, just looked at prices for WLwhen did they go up so much
. Last time we stayed (with 40%AP discount, I think that was the last 40% they gave) it was well under $200 for woods view! Now I calculate if I get a 30% discount for a Standard view it would be around $246 or something. That's crazy!! What a price jump they must have had. Bleck.
So now I'm considering either POR or POFQ. I love both those resorts. I like the landscaping more at POR, and like the compactness of POFQ.
Wookie: Wow, what an adventure! So sorry you were motions sick, it is such an awful awful feeling. I too should not go on Everest, I totally understand where you are coming from. And WTH about the treatment of you and your son at that festival???
