Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

We've never eaten at Teppan Edo, but in general they don't like Japanese food (the kids), although my husband and I could definitely do a number on sushi! :-) (although this would be an OOP meal) Ate at Coral Reef last year and wasn't overly impressed with the food and service, although seeing the fish tanks up close and personal was pretty cool! :-) Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Thinking maybe Rose and Crown or maybe going over to BC and eating at Beaches and Cream? Will have to take a look at my FP times again...and an EP map!! :-)

My name is Jill and I am a changer. I admit I may have judged before and wondered how can people change all Disney resorts are great. Silly Silly me I had a plan it had a back up and a back up. Thank you FD and Port exclusions plus a conference I presume at CSR and in the panic of booking I booked at Carb. Beach then less than an hour later I called and switched to Beach Club Villa because my husband is 6'5 and my 11year old is 5'2 so that bigger bed was crucial. Now though the cost of Beach Club is a little scary even though my hotel is paid for thank you work conference! So I am thinking of switching to Saratoga but have not done all my research. I also call frequently to see if I have a pin or if dates at CSR open.

So yes now I see how this switching happens and have a problem.
:welcome: I will tell you that the best thing to happen to me DIS wise was finding the wonderful people on this thread back in 2010 :grouphug: I have been a changer since I started booking trips, and my DH thought I was nuts. I stayed at BCV and YC before, and the location is fabulous, plus the pool is NEAT-O:beach: Saratoga is really nice, but location trumps it IMO! I think you made a great choice!!

Haha lmao I love this post!:rotfl2: You totally belong here!!! :cool2::cool2:
:flower3: Hi sweetie

Stay at BC!! Did you book a studio? They have 1 queen & pull out sofa. Regular BC ( not villas) have 2 queens. I'd pick BC over SSR any day! Great location, and best pool!
:thumbsup2

Totally anticipating a possible RC from our Janet  Plus if her and Mama Linda are at YC.....Melissa can buy me my pail of ice cream :rotfl:

I know many of you have an AP, SO...what sorts of discounts can you get with it? Current discount the same as the normal summer discount but you get Memory maker free I heard? Is it good at any QS places? What about merchandise discounts? Good everywhere? 10% right?

Trying to see if it would save us any more if I got an AP instead of regular tickets...

Honestly with all the discounts it still isn't "worth" it unless you plan on doing at least two trips in the 12 month period. It isn't good everywhere, there are exclusions. Look on the WDW website I think it tells you what is and isn't included.Remember each pass is almost $700 for out-of-state residents. BUT if you are going back again this year, it may be worth it for us guys.

My ds used to be super fussy and then we took him to Teppan Edo!

They grill the steak, chicken or shrimp right in front of you. He tried all 3 and I barely got any food after he raided my plate many times:rotfl2:

Also they do a comedy act while cooking so... Kept him amused too.
We have eaten there 3 times and it was great all 3 times.

Hiya Janet,
It must be so hard deciding what to do. I'm thinking of you! Whatever you finally choose, I know you and Sam will have loads of fun! :goodvibes

Hi Ginny! :wave2: ..just thinking of you last night and almost called! Thanks again for the pix (been following Tikiman too :)) Sam and I will talk this weekend ... why or why is this so hard?? You are right we will have fun wherever we are! :flower3:

I've made a bit of a change myself today. I booked our first three nights at WL, and then the rest of the trip at BW. I really wanted to take advantage of a few days of our BB, so this was the plan that worked.
Now I need to get busy and tweek some dining. :dance3:

A great split! Love it! :thumbsup2 ! How about an ADR for Artist's Point?? :)

I hope all the Poly peeps here find their perfect spot - be it at Poly or somewhere else. I'm nervous about our Kona ADR in Sept so I can't imagine fretting over the actual resort stay.

Thanks dimnigal1! I've never thought so much about my resort as this year. It will work out, I know it!

I'm thinking of swapping T-Rex on our arrival night with WCC and doing T-Rex for dinner our non-park day. Our flight gets into MCO at 2p and I'm just nervous about getting ME to our resort, getting checked in, and getting to T-Rex by 630. I don't want to push the ADR back too much (the kiddos will be hungry!) but thinking staying at resort for dinner might be the better chocie). The biggest drawback I see is that I need to get to GR to activate our tix that night, so going to DtD is usually our go to: we eat, activate, shop, then are ready for the next day. Thoughts?

Can just one of you go to DTD to activate the tix? If so, consider eating at WCC, relax, swim perhaps and get ready to hit the parks early the next day! Then move T-Rex for your non park day :) (If you can go to DTD alone, think of the solo shopping trip you could have!! ::yes:: (but honey, you KNOW the buses aren't good from DTD, I waited such a LONG time for a bus back! :rotfl2:)

Lunch on our EP day...(thinking of doing bigger, late lunch then apps, etc. in lounge at WL later)

Le Cellier
Nine Dragons
Rose and Crown

OR QS somewhere

Of those three, my vote is R&C too... have you considered Chefs de France? Then dessert at the bakery... YUM!

:flower3: Poor Sam...she's a great girl, she will be happy anywhere BFF

bff, :flower3: ...you now Sam (and me) so well) .. she WILL be happy anywhere. :goodvibes

You can get almost the same discounts of an AP with Disney Visa (and the pre-sale of certain promotions). DH lets me keep my 'mouse card' because we like the 0% APR for Disney trips (we usually upgrade from RO to DP a month before we go... pay most of it off right away, pay the rest off just before trip... use the Disney dollars we aquire at the parks). Because of how large the group is at Christmas, I put the deposits on my card and will have the people pay me in 3 chunks. We'll put those chunks in the bank as we get them and a few weeks before the total is due, pay it all off and put whatever is in the bank on the card. Anything leftover has 6 months to be paid so that way we can space out the family's payment a little more but still get the Disney dollars and the 0% interest.

THIS! DD6 was born in Hawaii and has been OBSESSED by Teppanyaki since she was able to sit at the table! We have a great place here in town and she begs us to go! DH and I like it because we can get sushi and she can watch the show, but kiddos seem to enjoy the show more than anything! Also, the steak and chicken are pretty simple (nothing crazy new in it) and the side dishes can usually be modified to adapt (ours has ginger dressing salad but we get DD's without dressing to make it fit her taste).

Thanks dimnigal1! I've never thought so much about my resort as this year. It will work out, I know it!

*hugs* stay positive and feel the pull to your temporary home!!! :)

I LOVE the way you think... I can smuggle my friend with me and leave DH with the kiddos: "you know how Disney transport is! I ended up having to hop over to the GF and figured I'd watch the fireworks while I was there!" :rotfl2:

*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

Nothing on the park front but I just signed DD and myself up for the GKTW Coasterpalooza Fundraiser! My cousin had such a great time and I have always loved the organization so I felt like this was a good way to give back (since I can't run, I'm limited in my options!)... plus, I can show DD that we can raise money and have fun, too! When she gets older I plan on adding a day into our Disney trips at GKTW so I'm excited to start her with the idea of the organization now!!!

Yes, merchandise is 10%. Used to be 20% for awhile!! There are some food discounts, some are pretty restrictive. I think WOlfgang puck express and/or EOS in DTD get AP discounts, Brown Derby, can't remember the rest, lol.
Room % can be 5% more then GP rate. The Aug discount I currently have beats AP what ever it is. And in Jan I had a pin for free DDP.
I can't go online to check what AP current offer is, cause for some reason I can't get it to load on new MDE :confused3 ugh. On old web site I never had a problem seeing AP discounts. Since MDE I haven't bern able to :(

It's worth having an AP for me because of 2 trips a year, Aug being 2 weeks and Jan 7-10 nights So between special TA rate & wdw pin I haven't actually used AP discount for resort stays, only merchandise and food.

Have all our Poly peeps found their home? The more I read the more amazed I am that Disney isn't offering more to those staying in the midst of the major projects. :confused3

Fabulous advice :thumbsup2

Mahalo!!!! :)

Working on ADRs for Dec. Right now have these:

Arrival night: Raglan Rd (late, apps/drinks)*
AK: Tusker House (lunch)
HS: Hollywood and Vine (lunch)
MK: QS lunch (BOG?)
EP: Biergarten (lunch)*/Akerhaus (PM) :santa:
Christmas: 1900 PF (brunch)*/Cape May (PM)*
Day After Christmas: T-Rex (dinner)*

All the ones with * are group meals. TA and I are working on which day/which park so I haven't decided on the specific days, just ADRs for whichever park we end up in.
I am trying to convince ILs to go to Marrakesh while we are at Akerhus (they really want to eat there - loved it last time - but DH and I go often and we want to make sure DDs gets princess time), but I worry MIL will feel they HAVE to eat with us. My main concern is she won't like the food at Akerhus for dinner and will be grumpy, thus raining on DDs princess time. We shall see! I'm hoping to convince MIL to get the Candlight Processional so that might influence her going to Morocco based on availability.

Hope everyone has a fantastic Memorial Day! Proud to part of the amazing military and know so many who serve!!! Prouder still to be 3rd generation military wife!!! :cheer2:

Thinking of canceling CRT dinner and doing Akershus dinner one night instead. We also have 1900 PF.

Thoughts on CRT dinner vs Akershus? We've done CRT for breakfast and dinner before, Akershus only for breakfast before.

Decided I will cancel the fireworks cruise. Made a 9:30pm ADR at Cali Grill instead. Dinner at 1900 PF, maybe some shopping at GF and/or CR, watch fireworks on the Observation deck at Cali Grill, then dessert and drinks. :-) (then we can walk to the buses and head back to CSR)

What do you think?

Decisions... Decisions
It's our 1st trip to Walt disney world and we are currently booked at the contemporary with TP view October 20-26 2014. We are thinking of changing our reservations to a moderate resort and extending our visit 2 days and adding hopper. DW and I were wondering how convenient is the transportation to the parks from some of the moderates. Any thoughts and guidance from the wealth of knowledge on these boards would be greatly appreciated!
