Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Thanks - I think I will call tomorrow & change to Yacht Club! YC looks jsut as cute & I read that it's closer to the boats to EPCOT & HS, which would be great for my dad.

YAY, I get to make a change! You all are so helpful :thumbsup2

I bet they will love Yacht Club, it's such a relaxing resort. You all are going to have such fun during Food and Wine! It's great to just walk over through the International Gateway and right into the World Showcase.

This will be my first time at F&W too - I'm super excited. We're going to try to hit Mickey's Halloween party as well. Hoping we can score BOG reservations the evening of the Halloween party - that will be my next challenge!

I'm on hold with Disney Reservations to change from BC to YC right now :yay:

I posted a separate thread but now think this might be the better thread - see I'm so indecisive!!!!!

I'm currently booked at the AoA Cars Suite Aug 3 - 8th for myself, DH, DS (9), and DD (6). I was all set on our planning but my DH asked today "what about the Wilderness Lodge". Oh no. That's my wrinkle.

Please, I need a Disney veteran to help me make the decision.

I'm a bit biased since the WL is one of my two favorite resorts. If the WL isn't a budget buster, I would stay there. The lobby is stunning!! My boys (ages 7 & 8 when we stayed there) loved the boat to the MK. The only downside for me was how small the CS restaurant is. I remember the area where you order and pay for your food feeling cramped and having a bad layout. My youngest didn't care for the pool, because ducks kept landing in the water. Actually, it's where my friend and I will be staying on our girls only trip.

SOOOO excited about WL in July!! :-)

Doing some final tweaking of ADRs to help pass the time until I can play with FastPass+. AND we're adding on another day to our park tickets so we can hit MK one more time before we leave since ME won't pick us up until like 4. Trying to decide between Chef Mickey's or Crystal Palace, early or late breakfast...

We'll be able to grab drinks and snacks in the lounge before our ME pickup which should tide us over til we get to the airport. :-)

Good idea - thanks for straightening me out! :) That gives me something else to consider. I like the decor & colors of the Beach Club, but I really do want a balcony. I'm going to go obsess about that for a bit while I fold the laundry. :rotfl:
:lmao:
YC would also be a great one!! I agree, skip CL during F&W.

Haha, no worries, I obsess over which resort as well. My DH and I are flying in a day before our cruise. We were going to stay at airport Hyatt, that became POFQ, and now it's BC...... Well, he hasn't exactly said "yes" to BC but I keep telling him that's where we are going to stay and he says "OK", lol.

Sent from my LG G2.
My DH says he is never quite sure where we will stay until we get there and check-in;)

Changing ADRs is fun because you can look at options and change without your TA I basically emailed mine to say "pay no attention to those changes..." and she laughed.

*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*

We got LO the new crawling Minnie Mouse to try to entice her to crawl (she loves to roll but sort of swims in place when trying to crawl). She learned how to catch Minnie's belly on her foot so Minnie also crawls in place so I have spent the better part of the day watching my LO outsmart me. Contrary so young!!!

No changes but starting to watch airfare!!!!
I love that stage of babydom  And I am :lmao: at your TA. Disregard the ch-ch-changes..it's keeping me from ch-ch-changing my resort :dance3:

The Halloween party is FABULOUS!!! Make sure BOG reservation is nice and early to take advantage of the party!!

:welcome: I like Wookie am biased on WL. But I LOVE LOVE those Cars suites. And you'll have a table and microwave...a separate room for you DH and yourself. The kids have their own beds...hmmm that's tough....:teacher: WL is SO AHHHHHHHHHHH:confused3 I am NO help either one you have a win-win

Good point..let the kids see the theming of both. WL has that cool campfire..EWP , UGH is it August yet???:beach:

You'll be fine for sure! We stayed at AoA last year in the Little Mermaid rooms & POR the year before and I didn't feel like there was a huge difference. Though the walk from the Mermaid rooms to the bus stop & restaurant was a bigger haul than I expected.

Only CL of BC is under construction - the rest of the hotel is OK. They say it should not interrupt the guests.
I think they are starting 5th floor and working down, but IDK how long it'll take to do each floor:scratchin BC/thread has Miss Teena who gives up to date info :thumbsup2

:welcome: :wave2:Congrats on planning your first trip!! people that change resorts on them all the time.

:welcome: :wave2:Basically, I was thinking exactly what Jeanette posted below.

Thanks y'all. There is only one thing I am worried about. The day we check out of our DL good neighbor hotel, we are stopping at the La Brea tar pits before we start our drive to the Redwood National Forest. I just wonder how safe the parking at La Brea is, since we will have all of our luggage and stuff in the minivan. Does any know anything about that area and if it's not a safe area, or if I'm just being overly paranoid?
Mama Linda knows Cali....I can't believe your DL trip is SO CLOSE!!:cheer2:

Hmmm...now I'm rethinking the Backyard BBQ at FW...DD was watching youTube videos last night and wasn't impressed with it...Maybe just do Garden Grill at Epcot for our Chip and Dale fix...? Then we get pics and autographs...our dining is definitely all about the characters!

We are going to do dinner at Trail's End, which I am super excited about as it gets great reviews. And then we will go do the campfire at Ft. Wilderness where Chip and Dale appear. Is that an option? :goodvibes

Now that our DL trip is totally planned and booked, I can hopefully get more time to keep up here. We ended up booking at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel. Our plans are
5/16 - Pick the boys up early from school and get from the DFW area to Albuquerque, NM
5/17 - Check out the Meteor Crater site in AZ and the Grand Canyon before checking into a cabin at the KOA closest to the Grand Canyon. Cook hot dogs and S'mores over a camp fire for dinner.
5/18 - Detour through Phoenix, to see where DH lived and went to school there, on the way to Anaheim.
5/19 - DCA day
5/20 - DL day
5/21 - LA/Hollywood/Beach Tour
5/22 - Check out of the Marriott then, stop at the La Brea tar pits on the way to San Francisco. Check into a hotel near the fisherman's wharf. Eat at Bubba Gump's on Pier 39 and the 7D-Experience
5/23 - Drive to the Redwood forst, and then check into a hotel in Redding, CA (where DH lived once)
5/24 - Drive to Salt Lake and check into a hotel
5/25 - Drive to Estes Park, CO and take picture of the boys at my favorite picnic spot. Then check into a hotel at Colorado Springs
5/26 - Drive home

Then there have been some changes on my girls only trip. We thought about renting DVC points and have bounce around nearly every MK and Epcot DVC location. We finally narrowed it down to BLT or BWV, both of which are booked up through a company we found that rented points for $12 a point.
I solemnly swear this change is our last change...there will be no other resort changes (except for me calling tomorrow and changing it to a normal bathroom from a roll-in shower bathroom). We have landed at the WL Courtyard view, with the same dates of Sept 20-24.

I'm not sure how much you want me to butt in here .... I am assuming that you are staying at a Marriott in Anaheim?? If so that is aways from LA/Hollywood/and some beaches. Also are you aware that the tar pits are very close to Hollywood? What beaches are you planning to tour? You might want to consider checking out of the Marriott in Anaheim on 5/21 and moving closer to LA or Hollywood rather that retracing your steps. Both the 5 and the 405 can be awful with traffic. On your way North towards LA/Hollywood you could do a beach tour while heading up PCH then cutting inland to finish off the day. As for parking near the tar pits you should be ok .... I don't think they have a parking lot and street parking in that area can be hard to find ... read the parking signs carefully sometimes they are not supper clear. If there is anything I can help you with let me know.

We did that one year (the campfire) and it was fun, but you only got to see Chip OR Dale, not both. Don't remember if they did autographs or not...and it was a PAIN to get to it since it's in the middle of the campground...

Hi all!

I check in time to time but I was sad I didn't have a trip planned:worried:

Then I caught a good airfare deal.... You know how that goes... Lots of possibilities and changing in our head:rotfl2:

If you haven't seen it orbitz has 15%off on top of disney sale (if available for your dates). It is OUTTAHERE. Then I read today a post that 20%off with DISCOVER.

I DISCOVERED I could cancel my last day at AOA and keep poly the whole 5 days:lmao:

Any help needed with orbitz let me know.

Going back to read a few days, I am behind but miss ya and welcome to newbies.

True, we have never had to deal with strollers. The DH insisted on waiting to go until the boys were big enough to not need a stroller or diaper changes. The animals are great. Just don't forget to do the night time viewing. All though for some reason, it made me a little dizzy feeling.

LOL, that was DH's request... but then we had a trip to Cali and HAD to do DL... then we found out he'd be gone most of the summer and we HAVE to have a vacation this September. So, we end up with both girls getting to Disney around 18 months old. :rotfl: He's just sick at the thought of having TWO toddlers this Christmas (nephew is 2 months younger than LO) :cool1:

Super close! You walk out the backdoor and *BOOM* boat launch! Loved YC... def our fave Disney resort - DH said we should've started smaller and worked up to it. :goodvibes
This will be my first time at F&W too - I'm super excited. We're going to try to hit Mickey's Halloween party as well. Hoping we can score BOG reservations the evening of the Halloween party - that will be my next challenge!

We planned our whole trip around MNSSHP timing and F&W fell into our lap! DH loved it last time so I'm excited to get a brief trip and DF is very intrigued byt the different countries.

I would LOVE a husband who suggests and upgrade!!! :rotfl: Mine just rolls his eyes anytime I change something. Instead of a budget cap we self-limit: he knows whatever he spends on a hunting or fishing trip is being mentally calculated in my head (and vice-versa)... last hunting trip was a doozy so I have some room to wiggle! ;)

I PERSONALLY LOVE GG!!! It's our MUST do. DD6 had a blast last trip because Pluto kept flirting with her (she had pigtales so he'd wave his ears at her). We have it on our agenda for both Sept and Dec. :cloud9:

GG is def right - The fasted I've ever seen traffic in LA move was on Soarin'. We drove from Monterey to Anaheim or Carlsbad 4 times and each time it felt like it took as long to get from San Joaquin Valley through LA as any other part of the trip... no matter what time of day! Also, not sure if it's changed but stop when you can - Cali closed LOTS of rest stops which made our travels around the state lots of fun with a 2-4 year old!!! Because of the nature of traffic it's hard to just hop off and find a place, as well. HAVE A BLAST, though!!!

*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~~*

LOOOONG day (capped off by snow that they swore wouldn't stick but is!!!) Had the dreaded phone call from the prinicpal (DD got a little too bored in class and went too creative), had to fight about a medical bill (luckilly insurance took up my battle once they realized the issue was double billing), and LO has been a fussy-butt... and finally cut her first tooth! :headache:

I need a Disney break! :dance3:

Oh and put my dates on page one please and thank you!

5/30-6/4 me and dd19 poly CL here we come! Somebody is turning 50 and will need lots of wine;)

No split stay this time after that crazy January trip:dance3:

Gf in SL then VGF, then CR CL then hospitality suite. All in 7 nights:scared1:

I am going to UNPACK and relax:cloud9:

Was going to do the Orbitz deal, but then after doing all the math, what we were saving on the room, we'd be paying extra for dining, etc. SO we went with our normal TA instead... :-) somehow I got to keep CL! Lol

We're doing an early Crystal Palace breakfast. We have an 8:20 ADR on a day the MK opens at 9.

Good b/c I am already having a panic attack over thinking about the LA traffic.

Butt in as much as you want, I can use the help. If this were a WDW trip, I wouldn't be nervous about it, even with it being so close. DL and CA are just so intimidating to me for some reason. I tried to get the DH to move, but he doesn't want to. We booked the tour through the Disney web site and from what I understand, we'll have the choice of either Venice Beach or Santa Monica Pier (if I remember right). They will pick us up and drop us off at our hotel (again, if I remember right). I just didn't want David driving since it's a site seeing thing. I looked at a map of the La Brea tar pits and hopefully, we can get there early enough to get into the parking lot since it has a guard.

It'll be our first time doing CL! I'm afraid we'll get spoiled. :-)

Um... We got pixie dusted ( from a GV room)June '11 to CR MKV CL. Since then I have tried there again, Poly CL twice, GF SL twice and RPC. My husband and son like it but don't love it. Dd and I love love love it.

Actually my 2nd poly was pixie dust from a GV room to TPV CL room. It was our anniversary and no king beds available so they gave us CL instead. Unfortunately we were only there one night but was awesome.:cloud9:

I have put a day or 2 at the end of a trip at CL so I get my fix without breaking the bank.

DH doesn't do split stays in the least...otherwise, last year's trip would have been part AKL CL and part CR I think it was? :-) we ended up GV at the Poly... :-)
