Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Guess what the kids are watching right now?? :-) LOVE Frozen!!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Seriously such an awesome movie! :goodvibes

We bought it today too, but will watch it on Friday which is our usual "movie night"....we are going to do a Frozen theme....you know, ice cream, iced tea, slushies....can't wait!!!

The girls saw it at the movies twice. DH and I saw it once, can't wait to see it again! :banana:

My TA priced out GF for 5 nights at $200 less than the WL CL deal...what to do...??

Any more pictures then somewhere?? :-)

Stay Tuned....any guesses on what I might be thinking? popcorn::

1. Does the first word begin with C and the second word begin with L?
2. Is it a nice place to stop after you walk back from Epcot?
3. Is it also known by another name...snack room?

Good luck with whatever you decide! Disney planning is seldom totally done for RCers. :dance3:

No CL. :goodvibes

I am waiting for confirmation of the change from our TA, but I am moving back to the GF. I just really want to be in the MK area. ::yes::

The GF is absolutely beautiful! I bet your girls will love that new Alice feature, too! :goodvibes

DH told me to decide which I thought would be better...5 nights at GF (requesting Conch Key, marina view, upper floor) or 5 nights at WL CL (requesting bunk beds)...

I don't know which to choose!!!! HELP!! :-) I'd feel a bit bad about not going through our normal TA, but I don't want that to sway my decision...

Anybody want to weigh in?? :-)

MM - suspense is killing meeeeeee

Kohl - that is a tough call... I would try to figure out if you will benefit more from CL perks or GF amenities. The pics MM posted are Ah-mazing.... but the pool at GF is legit! One question - will GF still be sharing pool with Poly peeps by then? i haven't kept up with the Poly construction but I imagine that might crowd the GF a bit more. Just a thought!!!

Plans are to move to the GF....:goodvibes

My TA has advised that she will make the change later today. :yay:

I have to say that DH went and picked up the AP vouchers we ordered 2 weeks ago. We were quoted a price that was lower than we expected when we paid for them 2 weeks ago, but since that was around the time of the price increase, they said that we would possibly owe more once they come in, so we were prepared for that. Well, NOPE!!!! We paid $577/peice for those puppies!!!! I can't even believe how awesome that is!!! :dance3:

:welcome: HELLO! Welcome to the best indecisive thread on the net! party:

How long is your stay? Would a split-stay be an option? That way you can indulge the kiddos in some animation but still save some money. Or maybe set aside some time to tour AoA?
FWIW, my friend who got back said she thought LM rooms were cute but the walk was FAAAAAAAR... I know your kiddos are older so less of an issue after a long park day but definitely something to consider for convenience purposes! Good luck in your decision making!

We are staying July 6-17 I had thought about a split stay but I don't think DH will go for it!! I also read about the conflicting distance between LM and the main building. Some say 6 to 8 and some say 10 to 12 minutes. :confused3 So for that reason I'm leaning towards POP. When we stayed at POP we got preferred and was in the 70's building that was nice. But I'm afraid that LM is as far as we were the last time we were at POR. We were in building 17 in AB and that was a awful walk to the bus stop. We also do alot of the EMH's at night. So we really have late nights.

Hi and :welcome: Haven't had a chance to chime in on your RC dilemma til now. :goodvibes

Have you come out and asked DH about a split stay? Staying 11 nights is a nice long vacation. Might he be open to staying the last ... say 3 nights in a LM room? That way perhaps most of your park time might be finished so you can relax and enjoy the resort and not have to be concerned about returning late at night. And your princess can have her princess room! You still realize some savings and perhaps satisfy everyone. A win-win??

And while at POP you will have many oppportunities to explore AoA before moving over. (DS will love the lobby with the sketches/drawings.) :goodvibes

On your change over day, luggage services will move your things, and one of you can walk over to check in at AoA while the other is having breakfast in the food court at POP (or AoA). Once finished, you can head out to the pool or wherever. :)

Happy Hump Day Peeps!!

MM, congrats on a full circle RC.... or it will be with you get your "final" confirmation. :) BTW your resort never changed in the RC list, so I will be accurate shortly. :goodvibes

Krystal, both WL an GF are wonderful ...you had to decide which one is right for this trip. Agree with dimnigal1....does CL or GF amenitities do better for you? Observations....You stated at the beginning of this trip that you all tend to be more park heavy....might CL hamper that? In order to take advantage of CL offerings you need to be at the resort when it's offered. Will you be (or will you scale the trip differently if doing CL?). Of course there is no tally here on how often you do, just something else to ponder... :)

GF, in addition it being the GF :goodvibes ... it does have the monorail..so convenient to MK (you are planning 2 days, right?).. it might be nice to have transp to two parks via this system. It's a tough choice!!

Awww...You're a sweetie! Thanks! :goodvibes

:goodvibes G, you display your indecisiveness proudly! :yay::thumbsup2

You are helping me feel better about AK!!! I hate having to figure out my days this far in advance but hoping it works out. I want to see the midday parade but I also know the LO will need a break. We'll see how it works out!

Perhaps one of you can stay back with LO in the room and take older DD to the MK parade? Might this be a better solution so LO is better equipped to handle any evening activities. :goodvibes

DD6 is beyond fearless - ToT at 3 and ready to conquer looping coasters this summer (48" took FOREVER for her). Between her no fear attitude and her propensity for independence, I fear for her future suitors! ;) She had a blast doing the competition and DH was thrilled our school offered the program - he did Odyssey of the Mind and enjoyed it. Part of me wants to get back here for high school because they have a great STEM program and I think she would benefit.

My kids were the exact opposite... very fearful of rides and since they always were tall for their age\, we paid adult price when most of the time they went on family/kids rides... Now DS is a thrill rider and DD is somewhere in between. :) DD seems well eqipped now to keep her future suitors in place!! :

The boat to DtD and option to hop to POR are why I'm hoping we can keep FQ... I also figure we have a better shot of getting SOME discount between the to PO resorts!!! *fingers crossed*

Hoping a discount is offered for you too! Honestly we are so happy at POR and would be quite content there in August too...but we did get a great TA deal at YC and it seems to be the happening place (and let's not forget SAB!) ....sooo, a new resort to experience! :yay:

:goodvibes no, now I am too!

:goodvibes I know, I'm bad....:teeth: Perhaps Mexico needs to be a scheduled stop on our WS tour for a Margarita... or two.. :thumbsup2

:wave2: oohh, I like the "stirring up trouble" emoticon!!

Candace - link to your pics please as Jeanette mentioned!!

I have to start a Pinterest page for WL now!!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
I also had a Wishes view from our Honeymoon room at WL. We could see GF and CR, it was cool! The bats freaked me out a bit, but it was all good:goodvibes

and Ginny... awesome new signature page!

"Ginny Certified resort changer. Trip planning is half the fun!"

I love it!! :thumbsup2
Nice!!! I like!!!

Absolutely!! :hug:
:hug:

Here is our BB room that also had the castle view
I am SO surprised you moved back to GF, and no CL??? I do know its a significant deal, but I really expected BWI CL or WL CL :lmao:

pas - we loved SAB! The sand area is great for smaller mouseketeers and DD had a blast in the main pool. She spent most of her time by the pool party playing Marco Polo and hula hooping. I will say that the quicksand spots freaked her out at first but once we explained to her she thought they were funny.
They won't be in the deeper parts, I guess I just worry. The kids LOVED the pools at Universal, but I need not worry, they love every pool they have ever been it :goodvibes
For the RCer in all of us

ORANGE BIRD FIGURINE
CUTE!
no, now I am too!
:lmao:

Hi my name is Laura,

I've been to WDW 6 times as an adult 98' Dixie Landings (disneymoon), 02 CBR, 05 POR, 09 Pop, 11 POFQ 12 POR. I've not really been a resort changer but I think I am now. Our orginal reservation is for AOA LM in July. Now that the discount is out thinking very hard about switching to POP. It's kind of hard to justify a $300.00 difference. The only 2 things that are preventing me are my DD7 she had her heart set on a LM room and my DS14 he wanted to stay there because it's new and had stuff to do with art/drawing. Hmmm what to do???
The nice thing about Pop is you can "pop" over to AoA to check it out!! $300 difference is a lot when you are essentially talking the same size rooms, etc....:welcome: to our home! That said if your DD really wants LM room, I can't say I wouldn't keep it....;)

Sweet thread idea glad i found it. We've been going back and forth between the Poly and GF. Worried about the construction at the Poly but love the theming. The GF resort looks absolutely beautiful but don't like the theming of the rooms. We seem to change our minds weekly lol.
:welcome: THAT IS TOUGH! It is a decision I fought with as well. I was booked at Poly GV CL and magically upgraded to LV CL..after talking to a manager, I decided the construction would impact us greatly...so we did move to GF. Then the new rooms were revealed :sad1: I just couldn't! GF IS beautiful, and the pools are fabulous and don't ever feel crowded (that will change in August) IMO. If you'll mostly be swimming or at the parks I'd go with GF. You can see EWP from the beach, and Wishes near the dock. It really is elegant! Happy planning!!! And the good thing about changes is there are no limits (discounts do sell out though) :flower3:

Glad you found the Resort Changers Thread! It's a great place to talk about changes, it's kind of our hobby. :laughing: Happy planning! :goodvibes
:thumbsup2

GAH! I was afraid you'd have a 7 there!!! *sighs*.... will...not...consider...CL...will...not...consider...CL...

*checking rates*

P.S. someone resurrected a zombie thread of mine from October... freaked me out to see it back on the main page and getting words of encouragement from people for something about 5 changes ago
:lmao: And as far as room views..higher floor North Wing....say 6....Kook knows best :cool2:

I have already decided that if I have to move our dates a little and go back to the military discount instead of the TA deal we have, I will be booking CL....you know, for my inconvenience....

DH completely agrees
Did you book Sugarloaf???popcorn::

Silly me....thinking that booking through a TA would stop me from ch-ch-changing.....
Did you not learn from me??:rotfl2:

No CL.

I am waiting for confirmation of the change from our TA, but I am moving back to the GF. I just really want to be in the MK area.
You said you didn't like the décor, you are SO not done....:rolleyes: CR is next....

The GF is absolutely beautiful! I bet your girls will love that new Alice feature, too!

I like this idea!!!

Hope Melissa is enjoying her WDW trip !!!!

We are staying July 6-17 I had thought about a split stay but I don't think DH will go for it!! I also read about the conflicting distance between LM and the main building. Honestly, I agree with Janet about talking to DH about a split-stay -- your trip is definitely long enough to make it less hassle, more fun! (anything under 6 days is hectic for a split IMO). I can only speak for the couple people I know who have stayed there (one friend did AoA suite, another LM room) and both said super cute but faaaaar. If you plan on late EMH, I would also vote for a close walk. I do like the idea of doing 3 night at LM room... if your princess is anything like mine was with POR Royal Room, the novelty will have worn off about that time... and for your DH (friend's DH was a little 'Under the Sea'-ed out by the time their trip was over ;) )

Disney makes split-stays super easy, too by moving your bags for you. We switched resorts on a non-park day - checked out, grabbed a small bag each with bathing suits, went to DtD for lunch, and then checked into YC. Our rooms were ready and we all changed into suits to hit SAB... by the time we got back, all our bags were there. :thumbsup2

Perhaps one of you can stay back with LO in the room and take older DD to the MK parade? Might this be a better solution so LO is better equipped to handle any evening activities. :goodvibes
This might work!!! :scratchin DH can stay with LO while DD6, DF, and I hit MK... then he can boat on over and join us when she's up and going. Plus, we won't have to accommodate the stroller in our viewing spot which will help a lot. MAHALO!!!

My kids were the exact opposite... very fearful of rides and since they always were tall for their age\, we paid adult price when most of the time they went on family/kids rides... Now DS is a thrill rider and DD is somewhere in between. :) DD seems well eqipped now to keep her future suitors in place!! :

LOL, I blame DH... he loves twirling and tossing the girls and they love it! (LO already knows to anticipate 'falling' onto our bed when Daddy gets home. DH made me look like the worst mom ever first time DD6 rode ToT - she was TERRIFIED of the ambiance (as any 3 year old would be) but we both knew she'd love the ride), so we're standing in line with her hiding her eyes and sobbing during the video... the CMs kept asking if she was okay and she said "I just want to go up and downnnnnn". We get on the ride and she hides her eyes until we get to the top (DL ToT is a little different) and then *BOOM* hands up, squealing. We get off and she runs ahead "Let's do that again!" *shakes head* it's been all up and downhill from there.

Hoping a discount is offered for you too! Honestly we are so happy at POR and would be quite content there in August too...but we did get a great TA deal at YC and it seems to be the happening place (and let's not forget SAB!) ....sooo, a new resort to experience! :yay:
We'll be happy anywhere on property (even SoG) but I want to try to scoop as many advantages as we can since it's Christmas. I love the atmosphere at the PO resorts, but I am hoping to stay at FQ for how small it is... with 4 rooms, I imagine a hard time getting all of them together at POR and I don't want to be limited to one category so we can spread the discount possibility. *FINGERS CROSSED*

~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~*~~~~~
MM, now you have me pricing out CL!!!! :scratchin EVIL!!!! :rotfl:
Question - is BB not a separate category for CL?
I could probably talk DH into a split stay. I didn't know that luggage services would move the luggage for usto another resort. He just didn't want to waste the day moving. That's almost perfect! The only problem is my DD has a BBB on the 14th! It would all depend on me being able to move her appointment to the 13th. She went to the BBB the last time we were there and she wore it for 3 days. I know that both of the kids will want to swim in the pools at AOA. That way she could have a couple of days with the hair do! I'll have to call them and see if they have anything available. We were planning on going to the DTD locaion this time. So with any luck all of this is doable
