Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Was just watching you tube videos of the Star Wars fireworks at HS and I think I like them better than the 4th of July ones at MK! Would love to be able to swing a June visit instead...just not sure with the flights that are available...

BUT with all the job uncertainty, it'd probably be better to go in June than to possibly start someplace and then ask for a week off a month later, right? Something to consider...

A Big Monday Hello :wave2:

Thanks for dancing for me everyone! In less than 24 hours we will be headed to the airport! Hmmmm... Guess I should start packing!:scratchin

Jeanette : feel better soon please!!

:woohoo: Jen, have a fabulous time!! :yay: Can’t wait to hear all about the cruise. :)POR is so beautiful, you will have an awesome time as you will be with your family. Safe travels to you my friend! :flower3:

Sue M, read that Universal tix were going up (wish I knew when we could go!) In the interim, will have to live vicariously thru you and Linda. :goodvibes

Pas. Feel better my friend… sending a big virtual  your way!

Candace, Congrats on booking the airfare and for locking in for summer camp. It’s a nice feeling having things arranged well in advance.:)

Pixarmom, :yay: on the half-marathon! It’s on my radar someday (and hoping Sam can do it with me). Keep checking back is my motto too. Happy it paid off (and so quickly) on scoring CL.:thumbsup2

Dimnigal1: good idea having ADRs lined up if FD becomes available (and a distinct possibilty based on history). Mods – Love POR, but also like the look of CSR too. And don’t let the resort size get to you...besides FQ, the other 3 resorts are all large and spread out. :goodvibes

I could easily do the Cinderella bun. My hair goes down to my bottom, and I wear my hair in a bun up like Cinderella everyday I work because the little kids tend to pull it if it's down. I just thought since I'm not a blonde it wouldn't look right. Then I'm going to get ribbon, to match the dress I am buying to wrap around a headband and then add crystals to it.

Kim, you will look fine with or without the blonde look…you can always buy the spray in color that washes out and... liking the idea of some glitter in the hair. :thumbsup2

Jennyjinx - have a great and magical trip!!! :-)

Jeanette - feel better soon!

So it looks like it would be about the same price as the current booked trip if we moved it to June at ASSp...cons - no saving money, no dessert party available for our dates, odd flight times (including a 1am arrival) but we'd most likely have a quick DME trip and no hotel cost the night before...might have to put it on the back end instead though since we fly back at 9pm and have to drive 3 hours home...pros - Star Wars weekend character meet and greets and fireworks! 2 and a half extra days to play, parks are open later it seems? Couple extra TS credits to try new places or return to our favorites?

Not sure what DH will say...Going from 4 nights at GF in July to 7 nights at ASSp in June...

ETA: Just checked United again...another date opened up so we could do 6 nights instead of 7...same weird arrival time, but oh well...we could sleep in and do Animal Kingdom or something then...and it saves $350! :-) more so if we decide to forgo the extra hotel cost...!

Hi gang-
Haven't been over here in forever- hope you all are well.
Wanted to say, met Janet over the weekend. It was great to see her, wish she didn't have a crazy busy day so we could have talked more! Thanks so much, Janet, for looking me up on Facebook:)

Happy days to all of you-
Cynthia

You are a genius!! I didn't even think about that. I found some blonde temporary spray. I can just put my hair up in a bun and then spray it, once it's up.

It sounds like a good trade off, even with the odd travel times.

Well, it looks like my friend and I have fallen for The Villas at the Grand Floridian. We'll just get a studio, but I am more than happy to sleep on the pull out couch to get to stay at that location.

:wave2: Cynthia!! So happy it worked out that we could meet up, even briefly :) Hoping you will have some more time to stop by our RC home. Missed you around here! :flower3:

For the RC peeps, here is Cynthia and myself over the weekend in Trumbull, CT, where Sam was competing with her school in an indoor percussion competition. Cynthia was there to watch her school compete as well.

Oh, happy that you like the idea! Sam has used different hair colors mostly for halloween so I knew it is out there :) So much better than wearing a wig in that sept heat.

I'm always for longer stays myself :goodvibes.. and by your own words you are planning to be park heavy so..throw it out to DH... bet your DS will love being in a sports themed resort. :cool1: Will the kids be okay with arriving so late (early in the AM)?

jUST TRYING TO CATCH UP NOW! BOY AM I behind -- having you all on FB is so much easier for me to keep up day to day, :cool1:

Jen: WE in ALBERTA have FAMILY DAY too!!! it was great to have the 17th of FEB off to just relax (and get paid for it :) gotta love my govt job when it's a STAT :) )
I could sure use a Disney trip...... I've been seeing so many friends at Disney this week/ and the Diva trip I was supposed to be hitting this yr...all happening around now! making me miss Disney something awful!
Hope I get back again before too long..... even if it is just a trip with DH, I don't think I can go too long without a trip to my happy place :flower3:

Wish I had a trip in the works so I could plan along with you all!

Onto other news... my DS Andrew ( my youngest) will be 18 in 3 days!!! :sad1: Don't know where the time went, but boy did it fly by!!!!
He's applied for the Canadian Military, and is in the process now of doing his medical and interview on March 10th. He wants to be a Air Structure Tech in the Airforce...kind of a body detailer for airplanes. I am hoping so much that his dream comes true and he gets accepted!!! even though it will mean I don't have him much longer, it will feel amazing to know he's set for life in a career he'll enjoy with a pension at the end of it :)
Fingers crossed with me that the processing all goes well and he gets an acceptance call before the end of the summer!
His graduation is on June 14 -- and then I'm done with school for kiddos...hard to believe it all went by so fast!
I will miss it.....but most of all, i"ll miss my boys and that time of their lives when they where dependent on us.... I have a feeling Empty Nest will be a hard pill to swallow for awhile!

Well gotta run and finish off the work day. I just wanted to say HI and let you all know you are never far from my thoughts!! :grouphug:

Quick pop in, just home from work.

Magic: Family Day is only a new holiday about 3 years ago, as far as I know it is only the province of Ontario that has it as a holiday. :goodvibes We went to see the LEGO movie, it was so good, much better than I thought it would be. A nice message to it.

Dimngal: Omg about your fall!! Thank goodness you were not badly hurt reinjuring yourself, or your LO was not badly hurt.

Wookie: Happy for you!! YC will be fab that area cannot be beat IMO.:goodvibes

Iheart: UGH! We are only off by a couple of weeks missing eachother! CRAP!

Hugs to all....getting super close now and finally told Mom about the ship. She was sooo supportive and gave me a big lecture about how she will always be nothing but supportive of anything our family does. We then had a big cryfest when I thanked her for all of the special things they did for us as kids. They had no money but I remember so many special times. She was so touched to hear that. Tears all around. Ah.....:)

I don't even want to think about my boys being out of school. Our oldest is a sophomore in high school and our youngest is in the 8th grade.

How is your DH doing?

Silly website is saying nothing is available for either of the June discounts, nor is anything available at rack rate...I think I broke it... :-/

Guess Disney is telling me to go to bed. I will finish my Disney math later I suppose... :-)

Was actually going to price out CSR business class as an option as well...?

On our way....headed to the airport. Two of the DDs are sick would you believe it? A last minute trip to the doctor and some medz this morning

Quick pop in before heading to the mountains to watch DH and DD throw themselves down the hill with only two little plastic strips to keep them upright. :)

Wanted to wish jenny safe travels and a fantastic time!!!

Also, put room-only deposit down at CSR for December trip... killed me to do it - rack rate! :scared1: Glad to start the process, though! Now to start figuring out which resort I'll change to first!

Feel better soon little princesses! princess:princess: And an icon for the well princess too! princess:

Want to second what GG said in a much cuter way than I could!

Is there a record for quickest RC? Before I even got the email confirmation of CSR I moved us to FQ. :rolleyes2 After running numbers we can save over $1100 by switching from CSR preferred to FQ standard. My hope is that if we can swing a discount on top of that, we can stay all 7 nights on Disney v. switching to SoG. *sighs* it's a lot harder to change 4 rooms!!! :scratchin

Leaning toward ASSp in a standard room (requesting Touchdown near buses) vs ASMo preferred room (Dalmations)...although DD would love the puppies, it saves $150 more...or perhaps I should just give DH the numbers and let him decide...?

Via Napoli is such a great choice - we love it! We're lucky with the ages of our boys now, because our teens enjoy TS meals and our youngest often falls asleep at them. With the ages of your little ones . . . that's a different story! Too bad about the CL prices, isn't it? I remember just a couple years ago, the extra cost of CL was something like $80/night. Now, CL costs so much more - boo. It's still worth it for us because we fit in one room and our teens eat so frequently. I think YC will be great for you! We LOVED our regular GV room at YC. So peaceful there, too.

Speaking of GF, I think we are going to book CL, especially if there are good deals during value season. I've researched the difference between the RPC and SL, but can't decide. I know it's all subjective, but in your opinions, is RPC worth the extra cost?
I have never stayed at RPC but it is the cream of the crop as far as CL standards go! The offerings are the same, and you'd save $$$ at SL. So hard to choose, the main building is just pixiedust: If I could do it, I'd choose RPC!
Thanks for dancing for me everyone! In less than 24 hours we will be headed to the airport! Hmmmm... Guess I should start packing!:scratchin

And I know too well on the "letting go" of our young adults...For me, this group of ladies, the frienships, and the girls trips have meant so much to me over the last few years....It is difficult watching our young adults go off on their own, but know that you did everything to help prepare them, so you can now concentrate on what you can do for YOU. Remember they will always be your babies.

Y'all look great!!

I knew I could get crazy colors, like purple and green, but I didn't even think I could get blonde. You're right, it will be so much better than wearing a wig.
