Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Hello everyone :wave2: I've been skimming when I can but it seems like that past few weeks have been crazy. I'm looking forward to some down time at my parents (once I pack and cook tomorrow) for the next few days. Then the craziness starts again, kids have state testing, David's holiday party on the 4th , leave mid day for WDW on the 5th, back home on the 8th, then back to MCO on the 13th-15th :faint: David has another meeting so the kids and I will be making uses of our passes before they blackout for Christmas and New Years. Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends and Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate. :grouphug: to all!!! Melissa
Can't wait to meet you!!! Safe Travels and Happy Thanksgiving to all my Amazing, American RCer friends! :grouphug:

 Thanks Jen! I'm off work anyway might as well have a change of scenery, right???:goodvibes

DH had his bloodwork yesterday, I am proud he went...now get back to the Dr. we need you well for the RC Grannie RE-DO trip.... I feel bad I am a burden on the family this trip

Time to hobble out and get the girls off the bus, and put the laptop away so DH doesn't:badpc: He said I've exceeded the maximum amount of changes...I even changed the wheelchair rental place :rotfl:

I can so relate to the "feeling like a burden" on our Vegas/DL trip in 2007 my DS Jason had to get me WC at the airport when we left, my COPD was acting up and by the time we left Vegas and arrived at DL I needed the WC to get around with either Jay or Ivory pushing me around, then again in 2009 the WC was a neccessity by 2012 I got smart and used a scooter and WC assistance at the airports.

I bet your DS will get a kick out of chauffeuring you about, mine seemed to enjoy it and he was in his 30's :rotfl:

I had to laugh about your changing the WC Rental :lmao:

Happy happy Thanksgiving to my RC family:grouphug:

My things I am thankful for.....

My family...the fabulous Pas clan, my husband loves me, he may not be perfect but he is handsome, strong, loyal, hardworking, the BEST father, and most importantly he loves me even with all my ch-ch-changes! My babies...what can I say they are sweet and loving. They are kind and thoughtful. DS5 and HRH can be a handful, but they are special gifts and so bright! By far I was blessed with a beautiful family!

Being a nurse....I don't always love my job, but I love helping people..And I was meant to do this, I am thankful I have the knowledge and instinct to help people stay alive, and if that is not possible have a comfortable passing...I am also blessed to be able to provide for my family!

My home..it is full of love, clean and safe. It's not the biggest one on the block, but it is the happiest by far!!!

My DIS family...I cannot even begin to express how much you all mean to me. Many of you know, I do not have much of an extended family...you are my sisters, my mother, my kids grannies, aunts, my true BFFs:grouphug: Only my dear sweet friends here know when I need a pick me up, when I am "not myself". The love I feel for you all is tremendous, and the gifts you've given me are priceless. Your texts, emails, calls...they mean so much. And some days it was really all I had to get me through. This is the power of Disney, though our shared love we have found each other....that is a true gift I am thankful for!

Bless our RC angels....Sarah, Toby, Shawn, Jason, family we've lost..(sis=your baby sister)...:littleangel:

2013 has been a rough year for so many, injuries (thinking of your DH Marie...Mama, Nana Chrissy, dimndgal1...health worries for our parents...kids..I mean seriously ENOUGH. But through it all we've stayed strong and together :grouphug:

Love you all and Happy happy holiday!!!!

I thought I would bounce a color choice idea off you ladies. I have a friend that I met on the boards that is turning 40 this coming Summer. Even though I can't be in Orlando for her big birthday bash, I wanted to make her a scarf and take it to her when I am there in August. I am thinking to make it classic Mickey colors. Black on the one side with red and white stripe MK, and the other side red and white strip with a black MK. What do y'all think?

wookie sounds perfect! :thumbsup2

Resort Change!!! (Who'd have guessed?? ;) lol)
Changed from the POR royal Room to WL courtyard view for only $25 difference -- couldn't pass that up! It's my first 2 nights (3&4th) still at POFQ for the 5-9th

Marie Great Change, love WL!

Melissabusy but the best kind of busy, sounds like you have a lot of fun planned in the coming weeks.

Hey Guys....

At the risk of sound like a super cheese ball...

I just wanted to say before everyone scatters for Thanksgiving....I am so grateful for so many things in my life....my family, my health, and of course our ability to take so many vacations to our favorite place on the planet. :p

But, I am also so glad to have been a part of this group for the past several years. It's so nice knowing you're all here if anyone of us has a problem or issue..and to share our stories, triumphs and struggles. It's a no judgment zone and very "come as you are"

To the Best group of peeps on the Dis....

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

For those RC'ers in the States, Happy Thankgiving!! I wish you all a day of non-burned turkeys, full bellies, safe travels, homes filled with love and laughter, with no family drama.

This year I am truly thankful for my doctor that sees patients despite having no insurance and has very low costs. The doctors and nursing staff at Cook's Children's ER in Fort Worth for being so great with John (my doctor had me take him into the ER to get a CT done. He's fine, we just need to follow up with other doctors.) Teachers and other staff at JM's middle school for being so amazing with him. I am thankful for God clamping an Angel's hand over my mouth every time my fil has a temper tantrum and I want to tell him off, or when I wanted to explain to the coaching staff at Joey's HS in the exact ways they were morons. Mostly I am thankful for family, in the many forms it comes in. My immediate family, that pust up with my, at times, crazy rear. My RC family, that puts up with me being gone for periods of time when I'm too depressed to be on a Disney site, and are the only people that truly understand my love of Disney and how hard it is to commit, and sitck, to one resort. My SW:tOR family, that puts up with my lag at times and pushes through the hard operations together.

This year Thanksgiving will be spent with the DH's family. Usually we trade off each year between mine and his. If we spent Thanksgiving with his family last year, that meant we spent Christmas day with mine. Making this Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas day with his. Well I am not sure what we were supposed to have done this year, but we have to spend Christmas day with my family, so we're doing Thanksgiving with the DH's. I knew it was a possibility, but now I know it's going to happen. This is my sister's last Christmas living here. She has accepted a job offer that will move her to Falls Church, VA. Since it will be their last Christmas in their house here, we are spending it with them.

The DH says he's still taking me shopping for Black Friday, which makes me feel a panic attack coming on just thinking about it. I don't care as long as he takes me to the Trinity/Southlake Carroll game at Cowboy Stadium Friday night. It may only be high school football, but I guarantee it will be the best game held there this year.

Happy Thanksgiving RCer!! hope you all have a safe and wonderful day.pixiedust:

Pas, where's the like button. Beautiful post!

So some more planning for August Poly trip. Lol. My youngest dd (23) is joining us for first part of trip to Ft Lauderdale, will leave 3 dsys earlier cause she really wants to go to Universal (Harry Potter) and I haven't been allowed to go untill she could come :rotfl: with her school & summer jobs it's been difficult. But now she's finished school, and is working, and was able to get a couple of weeks off in summer. So yay! Then after a Universal, she'll come stay first night at Poly. Plan on checking in early, then go to water park. Then we can hang out at Poly, I'm thinking dinner at either Poly, GF, or WL. Then we can watch Wishes on Poly beach. Next day she can get DME to MCO. I'll feel a whole lot better putting her on DME then a taxi.

I'm thinking of Portifino at Universal. Any opinions? Haven't stayed there. We stayed at HRH last time, a few yrs ago. I thought the halls were awful acoustically. Heard everyone passing our room, very echoey ( is that a word? :scratchin).

Portofino is beautiful..if you like quiet and luxury than you will LOVE it! The beds are SO comfy, food is YUMMY and the pool is FAB! It was just refurbished. And the new Harry Potter expansion will be open too!!
Such a beautiful post. Happy Thanksgiving to your family!! :grouphug:
Thanks Kim  Wishing you a drama free holiday!!!

Those stickers are just perfect, Bree, thank you!! DD made pumpkin pie yesterday afternoon after we went shopping for some children from the Angel Tree. DH couldn't wait till today for a piece so he had some last night! DD didn't even want any though and reported that she doesn't like pumpkin pie:rolleyes2

I hope everyone eats way too many goodies today:goodvibes

I am a resort changer. I feel like this thread is perfect for me. Our first trip in 2010 I switched our resort from WL to CB to Pop to POR. We had never stayed on property before. It was a lot of pressure. On our 2013 we switched from POR to Pop, then back to POR. We are taking another trip in June. We have gotten a bit better. We have switched from POFQ to Pop. But June is still a bit away. Who knows what will happen! I am a bit worried switching from a moderate to a value, only because it is all I know. A lot of people seem to like Pop though. Besides the beds and rooms being smaller, which I am okay with, is there anything else I should be aware of? I actually like the idea of the bus lines, instead of one covered area that people just congregated under and you have no idea who got there first.

:welcome: to the RC family :goodvibes I was also a resort changer WAY before I learned there are others like me :rotfl: I am more likely to stay at a value than a moderate. I've only stayed at CBR, and I've been hesitant to try another mod. POP ROCKS! The biggest difference to our family between a value and mod is double vs. queen beds and no pool slide. That said about the slide, my kids enjoyed all the pools at Pop. I prefer smaller grounds to any resort with an internal bus I guess. Again, June is a long way away and we will be more than happy to enable many many more ch-ch-changes. It DOES sound like you love Port Orleans though :lovestruc

HAPPY THANKSGIVING LEFTOVER DAY! :surfweb:
I hope all the RCers are well and know that those with holiday season trips are getting amped up!!!

That is great they are doing all that testing. With our youngest DS, they would only do testing for ADHD. Then four years later, after trying different meds with different dosages, and even generic vs non-generic, I wanted a neurologist to test him for Autism. The doctor argued with me and wanted me to try yet another med. I informed him that I would take my son to a neurologist whether he recommended one or not. My hubby was like yours, and wanted to just wait and see instead of doing more testing. Turns out my mommy instincts were right. They diagnosed him with having mild Autism Spectrum Disorder and having petite mal seizures.
I am so sorry you had to go through all that trial and error but so grateful you finally have an answer so that you can work from there! I hope your DS is doing better and good for you on pushing the issue!

Dmdgal: good for you for pushing for the testing mom, sometimes we have to go without instincts even though our DH's don't always agree.
Thanks so much for the support! It's hard to butt heads with DH about this issue, but we always hold on to the fact we want what's best for her, even if our ideas differ. Luckily, he agrees this can't hurt anything and might just help. *fingers crossed*

My trip is BACK ON!!! Hopefully I will see you on Friday morning! :flower3:

DH and I came to a compromise, and we are doing Universal (again :rotfl:) I will be in a wheelchair and DS12 is my chauffeur! :rotfl:We put up our Christmas tree Sunday, and I couldn't bear NOT going to MVMCP :confused3

I have to schedule an MRI..and we are taking it from there. pixiedust: for your hip and DD's testing. Special services in my school district and I are frenimies...it took me forever to get my DD tested, and it's a fight every year to keep her IEP in place..because she is not failing. HELLO>>>SHE'S BRIGHT....ugh. Hang in there, plenty of us here have been there and done that...and we are here for you, PM me your cell if you ever need to chat/text/vent...

:thumbsup2

Thanks so much! I am 'fortunate' in that I have substitute taught in DD's school pretty extensively and get along VERY well with the Special Education teachers. Because of that experience, I understand the ridiculous processes needed for IEPs and special circumstances. ((I find some of them ridiculous and hate how much teachers' hands have been tied lately, but I at least know them)). I may take you up on your offer to talk... we go in to see the doc with her first set of forms in 2 weeks, so I'm hoping it won't be a battle. *sighs*

:grouphug: TOTALLY wonderful post! Just so touching and meaningful. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and know how much your message touched so many!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

 I am thankful for so many things - and this last year has taught me to truly appreciate what I have. 2 years ago I was told my hip was too bad to have another child but I found surgeons who worked their magic and took me from not being able to walk more than a block to taking on Disney 8 weeks post-op (admittedly with a cane, but still!). Nine months after surgery, they gave the all-okay and now I have my wonderful little Peanut and my eldest DD has a chance to be the big sister she always wanted to be. She came 2 months early but was as tenacious as her momma and is doing wonderfully!
Unfortunately, it's more surgery for me but I now know I can make it through and reading all the issues everyone here is dealing with and how strong they are makes me realize not only are you all a support network but you help everyone else find their own strength.

In a sense, we can't make up our minds, but once we do it's GAME ON!!!!

Hi everyone.:wave2: Just popping in, been reading along, no heart to post. Lots going on here since we got home. May trip may be out, taking a loss on the plane tickets possibly too.

Hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving though, and always thinking of you all!

I know how your feeling  I think our days of traveling are over. I tried to plan a trip for next Thanksgiving to go to NY, staying at a Pet friendly Hotel but not so DMil refused. I don't know what it is with that woman.

No real improvement with Bella about at my wits end as it is 3 weeks today :worried:

 You are most definitely blessed, sorry you have to go through more surgery, but we are most definitely here to get you through the post op period!!! You are fortunate to have contacts in the school system!! The whole process is SO frustrating and time consuming, it breaks my heart at the parents who don't know the hoops you have to jump through...or even worse the families which have a language barrier and may be unaware of what is happening (or not happening):headache: My pediatrician gave us the choice of a psychiatrist or neurodevelopmental doc and I am thankful we got such a great doc. Our neurodevelopmental pediatrician handles both my DD9 (HRH) and now my DS5 which is AWESOME!! Plus he's a BIG Disney fan :goodvibes

And being that you are now part of the RC family...remember we are always here for YOU TOO :grouphug:

 Jen I am SO sorry, there is a lot going on (which doesn't sound good) I hope you are able to go in May I really do, but you have to deal with all that is going on right now. DH is upset with me...being out of work I should've cancelled our trip and taken the loss of rental car..(I would've had most of the JetBlue $ credited) BUT truth be told WE as a family need this trip..so I cut some costs..and will deal with the mortgage company when we get back (because the payment will be late for December ) My priorities are SO screwed up, but my mental health requires a few days away from here ::yes::

If you need ANYTHING, you know where to find me girlfriend

I know how your feeling  I think our days of traveling are over. I tried to plan a trip for next Thanksgiving to go to NY, staying at a Pet friendly Hotel but not so DMil refused. I don't know what it is with that woman.

 I hope the kennel has been picking up the vet bills Sheila! Very sorry about Bella! Come to NJ next thanksgiving, you can stay with us !!!!! Let Dmil and Bob stay in CT!! Bella can come!! HRH is AWESOME with dogs, she will be well cared for, promises

Hi Jen I hope everything is ok!!! I am thinking about canceling our April 2015 cruise. I can't have two costly vacations planned at once. Too stressful.
Hope everything will be ok for you.

 I hope the kennel has been picking up the vet bills Sheila! Very sorry about Bella! Come to NJ next thanksgiving, you can stay with us !!!!! Let Dmil and Bob stay in CT!! Bella can come!! HRH is AWESOME with dogs, she will be well cared for, promises

Jeanette, is it you out of work or DH? I was pretty sure you were up to your eyeballs in work, but maybe I missed something. :confused3

Sometimes the vacation is just what the Dr ordered. I actually put off a job interview after having been laid off back in 2009 because it was our girls 1st trip to Disney and there was no way I was missing that. :rotfl2:

I hope all works out for you as well!

Sheila, jeanette and Candace thanks so much for the supportive words. Everyone is going through something, and you all take the time for me. It means so much.

Jeanette it is true about priorities, I think I have been mixed up too. My oldest baby is going through a tough time, and that is more important then Disney. DH and I said some things to the kiddos on this trip that were out of frustration but we put them in the position. We are not happy with ourselves and need to take a
Step back.

Of course we still had a magical time right?

Many hugs

Jen
