My Hubby and I are taking my Niece age 12, and Nephew age 10 to Disney World and on a 3 day Disney Cruise. I thought I would share with you the rules we went over with them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I will listen to Uncle Rick and Aunt Teri. I will not yell at them, I will not back talk them. If I get mad I will count to ten before I say anything. We(Uncle Rick and Aunt Teri) will not yell at you. We will listen and then make a choice according to the problem.
We will be in charge of all your money. If you want to buy something ask us and we will let you know if you can buy the item.
We also will write down how much money you have and what you spend it on.
You will keep your hands off each other's body, food and stuff!!! We are here to have FUN!!! We are not in a hurry, you stay in sight of us at all times at the parks unless we say other wise. Your behavior at the Hotel and Disney World will decide how much freedom you will have on the ship. Ship rule #1 YOU WILL NOT GO INTO ANOTHER PERSON ROOM FOR ANY REASON AT ALL!!! Ship rule #2 We will expect you to be on your best behavior when you are not with us!
This means minding your manners, not pushing all the buttons in the elevators, not running or yelling any where on the ship. Ship rule #3 Do not throw anything thing over board it is againts the law and hurts the fish. Ship rule #4 If you pick it you eat it!!!
Sounds like you are a great aunt and uncle! :) How cool for them that you are taking them on a cruise. Great rules!
I just have one comment about ship rule #4...:D
My kids are kind of picky eaters and I took our cruise as an opportunity to allow them to experiment and maybe try and/or learn to like some new things! I told them if they picked something, they had to try it, but if they really didn't like it they didn't have to eat it. I figure that way they will be willing to try new foods. Of course, I explained to them that this would have to be within reason because we didn't want to "waste" tons of food.
If I had told them that they had to eat anything they picked, they would have spent the whole week eating pizza and chicken nuggets. Instead, they tried (and liked) several different seafood dishes, some pastas, some adult appetizers, fruit, etc. that they never would have had at home!
Just "Food" for thought! (Pun intended!) :p
Here's my three to add to the list:
1)You may not go ANYWHERE by yourself. You must be with us or with a friend at all times.(or in this case your brother/sister)
2)You may not wander about the ship....you must have a destination in mind.
3)You must page us when leaving the lab with your destination and page us when you get back to the lab so we know you have returned.
These rules worked fabulously for our family last week on the Wonder.
mog,
Rule #4 is a inside joke:D We have taken my Niece and Nephew on many trrips, and not to be gross but my Nephew used to pick his nose a lot. We kinda made this into a joke about If you pick it you eat it:p He knows we were joking but it seems to have stopped him from picking in his nose and asking for a tissue instead. So now when we talk about rules, he chimes in "If You Pick It You Eat IT." I totally agree with letting them try new food's. and if thy don't like it I certainly don't expect them to eat it.:D
ACK! I'm glad I am not your niece or you'd have to send me to my room without any Chocolate Soufle'!! :( I admit that I have had a "grape tossing for distance' off of out balcony before. Then there was this horrible accident with a chocolate mickey mouse...........
Hehehehe. Seriously though! The rules sound great to me! It is also a wonderful idea to let them know what you expect from them before you leave!
Tluvs2talk,
I love it! I may have to institute that rule at home! Luckily mine have mostly outgrown that "habit", but we do still have to remind them once in a while. Maybe the "if you pick it, you eat it" rule would be just the incentive they need!
:p
Mog,
GLAD YOU GOT THE HUMOR IN THIS JOKE!!!!!:tongue: :tongue: :tongue: :tongue: :tongue: :tongue: :tongue: :tongue: :tongue:
Of course, you could just be starting a whole new bad habit that way.... ;) hehe
