We were in Room 3301 from Dec. 18 - 20. This is the first room on the Main Lobby floor on the left in this tower. It gets some noise from everyone who walks by which is to be expected.

We had requested a room for someone with limited mobility so this is what we got! We were obviously close to the lobby, the elevators (which weren't a problem) and our windows opened onto dense greenery and green utility boxes (haven't uploaded my pictures yet!). While our room was convenient, the windows are also overlooked directly by the concierge area of the Main Lobby. You can't really keep your drapes open at all!

When we checked in at 10:00 AM we were told several times that we would be called when the room was ready. This never ever happened!!! I guess we should have called them.

Eventually we wandered back to the hotel at 4:30 pm; exhausted and asked again for our room. "Oh, we forgot to call you. Sorry. We gave your original room away. We'll find you another." We waited awhile (10 minutes) and then had to turn our cards in to be re-done. I was not happy.

Finally we went to the room, found cheerios on the floor and never got the fridge unlocked for our sodas etc. But we were tired after 6 days at Disney and our day at Universal.

Whoever designed these rooms forgot to put in sufficient electrical outlets! Both outlets on the headboard wall are filled with the clock and lamp cords and there are no outlets on the window wall. We had brought an extension cord but it would have done little to help us. I've seen more available outlets at Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inns.

We ended up charging the ECV in the vanity area by the sink after shoving it in by the dresser the first night; what a nuisance. So the ECV ended up partially blocking access to the sink. I know that these rooms are not designed for ECVs but we even moved the table and chairs and still had trouble figuring out an efficient position to get things arranged to charge it. I don't think we're an unusual family with two laptops and cell phones and Kindles :) are we?

I am not a fussy housekeeper but the grout for the floor tile in the bathroom was positively grungy black in places. It was a cleaner tan in other places so I can only assume that the mopping is at fault. I really hated to think about how it was cleaned....

DS and I went down to ride the boat for early access to WWOHP but the line was almost back up to the hotel itself so we ended up walking over; not a problem really for us but there were nowhere near enough boats running even at 6:30 am. This was on Sunday, Dec. 19th so maybe being on the weekend was the problem. The hotel promo literature does make a big point of pushing this service so maybe they should follow through better.

FWIW - We did enjoy the room service dinner the first night; good food and lovely service. And the Keurig coffee maker was perhaps the best thing in the room! I could complain more but I'll stop. If anyone wants to hear more, just PM me and I'll continue.

We have stayed at the HRH in the past and enjoyed it but I doubt that we will ever return to Universal's hotels; just too much of a bad taste in our mouths.

Sorry you had a bad experience.

We were there Dec 16 to 19th and had an enjoyable stay--Tower 2. Though crowds were noticeably picking up by yesterday.

Would stay there again.

sorry you had a bad stay- i would not give up on Universal. we had several

bad stays at RPR and said never again and tried Portofino Bay. We fell in love

with it here and will not stay anywhere else.

Don't they only have one boat for each resort? I don't think they have extra boats which can used at park openings and park closings.

Do the hotels still offer bus service? Might be a good alternative to waiting for a boat.

The hotel gives you a TV, hair dryer etc. I don't think hotels see the need to have a lot of outlets for guest use. Guests with a lot of "stuff" phone chargers, computer chargers, IPOD chargers....sometimes bring a small surge strip or an "octopus style" outlet saver. Also comes in handy if you need to charge something in the airport.

So sorry. We just came back 12/17-12/20 and we had the best time and the best service.
on sunday 12/18-we took the boat at about 6:20 and it was empty and no lines. And very few people waiting at IOA entrance.

Had the same problem with the boats on my 12/03 - 12/06 stay. If I hadn't picked such a dead week I would have been very upset. I missed the hour completely waiting for the boat.

Walking or the bike cabs is the way to go.

If there is a line for the boats we always walk. It is under a 10 minute walk for us. I'd never wait if I had to be somewhere at a certain time.

OP, you may have been happier in a handicap accessible room.

I am sorry you did not like it at this resort. I stayed there for 3 nights in September and thought it was fabulous. I thought house keeping was fine no issues with dirty grout. Minimal waits for the boats, but it was a rather slow time. I would stay there again, and I would recommend this hotel. Again, i am sorry you were not happy there.

I have never had a bad room at any of the onsite hotels here. Sorry yours was less than stellar. I wish Disney was even half as clean as the Lowes hotels.
