Well we are back from our trip to the world over July 4th! We had a great time and are still exhausted!
Anyway here is the cast again:
Me the trip planner of course
DH our chauffeur LOL
DD age 8
DS age 3
Our trip was booked for 7/2-7/10. DH was able to leave work early on 7/1 and we were on the road around 12:45. We drove to Mobile, AL and spent the night with friends.
Thanks to Alex making landfall south of the Houston area...this is what we encountered until we entered into Louisiana....
It was not fun! Houston traffic is bad enough, but add in that kind of weather and bad isn't the word for it.
The kids were handling it well though!
We finally made it into LA!
At some point in time Heather (martinolichfamily) and I began emailing one another. We realized while reading pre-trip reports that we are neighbors! So we had a mini dis meet before we ever left for Disney. It just so happened that they would be going the same exact time as us! We had planned on meeting up our first day there as it was our only day in the same park together...did that happen?
Aside from that the ride was pretty much uneventful. We stopped for dinner and changed the kids into PJ's for the remainder of the trip. I think we pulled into Mobile around 9 PM. The kids were wound up for sure! Our friends daughter was playing with them and with the adults all gabbing next thing we knew it was after 11 PM! And the kids were still up!
Day 2 of the drive consisted of our getting up around 7 AM
taking quick showers and heading out to meet the inlaws and my mother for breakfast.
Thankfully we weren't there long and we were back on our way after making a quick pit stop for gas.
Getting closer!

We were cruising right along when all of a sudden traffic was deadlocked. We counted 8 wrecks in about a 10 mile stretch! Thankfully KYcruisecrazy was able to give us an alternative route and we were finally on our way again! We pulled into ASMO around 8:30 ish Eastern time. Check in was a breeze and we walked over to the food court for dinner. After dinner we headed up to our room and unloaded the van. Before long we were all settled into bed and sleeping well.
The kids playing in the room while DH and I unpack..
Towel art that greeted us.
Up next: Day 1 Breakfast at Chef Mickey's for my birthday and then onto Magic Kingdom. Would we be able to meet up with martinolichfamily? Could she and I actually hear each other on the phone....????
