I have copied over Kath's post to update you on her mother's progress:

"Thank you my friends. The prayers and good thoughts mean so much to me and my mother.
I just got home from the hospital. Her surgery didn't even get started until 5 pm, they had to fit her into the schedule, so it was a late start.
The doctor removed her entire stomach which contained a fairly large bleeding malignant tumor. He also took several nodes to be tested. The doctor told me that in his experience at least on of those nodes will be positive and she may require a little chemo but that he had no doubts she would easily tolerate chemo because of her very good health (other than the malignancy) and physical stamina (she was still working part time as an RN and walking 4 miles a day until she began to get weak a few months ago). There was no obvious metastasis to other organs and the catscan was clear.
I'm so relieved. I know she may still have health problems but I just feel so relieved now that this surgery is behind us. The doctor was very upbeat and positive about her future. He said that he thought she was going to be fine.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for being such caring and emotionally generous people. Your prayers and good thoughts touched my heart and my mother was amazed at the great outpouring of caring from people who don't even know her.
Thank you my friends.
