The Monorail

Okay, I'm a little embarrassed to admit this.. but I have never been on the monorail. I have always wanted to- but never stayed at hotel that has it or went from one place to another that has it.. but this trip I told DH that I really want to.. even if its a little out of the way.. hehe

Journey into Narnia

I do not know anything about this. I have heard it.. but thats it. So I'll be reading your comments.. and finding out to! hehe

Swiss Family Treehouse

OMGossh.... that is soo funny.. its weird rather.. and surprises me.. because it makes me wonder how they heck they got there.. and didn't get caught.. hmm.. it would seem like the crew would check everything in the morning before the park opens.. I guess not. Weird.. ;)

Innoventions

hmm.. I feel like I've done this but can't recall right now.. my brains frazzled.

Oh my gosh! You HAVE to ride the monorail! Just get on it at the MK and ride it all the way around back to the MK for the heck of it!

Oh I missed some.

Swiss Family Tree House-

Yeah I got a splinter underneath my thumbnail. That was fun lol! I was srying the whole time lol and my Nan took me to the first aid station lol. The lady who took it ous was so nice.

Journy into Narnia-
I was dissapointed when we did this LOL! I was like "that's it??" I skip the stupid show thing and just walk through and check out the stuff when you walk out.

OMG that splinter had to hurt! :headache: I have to say though, I haven't been in the first aid station before. And I don't plan on it anytime soon! haha.

Ugh, I don't think I'm doing Narnia EVER!

Haha, I annoy Sis by saying the speil with the guy everytime we're on it. Do you have it as a ringtone or just something to listen to?

Attraction of the Day...

The Monorail

Okay, I know this isn't exactly an attraction, but I love it! OMG, this memory is again back from our 2001 Christmas trip with the whole family! It's first thing in the morning and we were staying at the Contemporary, so we hopped on the monorail to switch monorails at the TTC to go to Epcot. Yes, I know we could've taken the bus, but we wanted to show the grandparents the scenery on the monorail as we headed to Epcot. So..we're leaving the Contemporary, heading around that little curve where you can see WL hiding behind the trees to your left and the Seven Seas Lagoon to your right..and the monorail starts to slow down..and the comes to a complete stop! Now for those of you who know me and my mom, we're claustrophobics so this didn't sit well with us. They come over the loud speakers to tell us that they're doing their "morning routine and tests". Ugh. So there we are, just sitting there. One other family in our section with us. Of course, what do Uncle and Sis start doing to scare me and mom?! They start jumping and trying to shake the car. Of course the other family is laughing because they see us freaking out. Finally, the monorail started moving again. About 5 seconds! We had to stop again. :headache: This time, we started moving backwards SLOWLY and then forward SLOWLY. Finally, we made it to the TTC and it was the happiest I had ever been to touch the ground. This is one story I still hear my grandparents talking about when we talk about the trip.

Remind me to never ride the monorail with you and MeMom together. I have a very similar memory. When MeMom, Brooklynn and I took our girls' trip for my birthday in 2007 we went to the Poly to eat breakfast. We got on the monorail at Magic Kingdom and we were in the very back car. There was nobody else riding since we were going out and everyone else was headed in. We got to the TTC and the monorail stopped and then the lights went out. MeMom is also extremely claustrophobic and started fretting immediately. They came over the speaker and said they had to power down for five minutes or something like that. Well then things got worse, Brooklynn was hungry and started hollering to get out of her stroller. MeMom kept saying "it's been five minutes. they don't know we're back here. Why did you choose the last car?" I kept assuring her that they would not leave the monorail without checking every car. The doors finally opened and we continued our journey to the Poly. It was a very interesting way to start my birthday morning!

Oh that had to have been so much fun! Too bad we couldn't have gotten together and had a double b-day party! lol.

It was too much fun! Although at 6:30 the next morning when I had to wake up I could have done with a little less fun :faint: Oh well it was fun. It would have been awesome to have a double b-day party!

It's a shame that one so young has lost so much of her memory. The story really goes like this:

We were on our way to the Poly in pursuit of some mouth-watering Tonga toast, and the monorail stopped on the tracks. I suggested to Jill, who appeared to be a bit worried, that we sit back and enjoy the beautiful view. I assured her that the monorail would begin again very soon. In what seemed like no time, we were on our way again, but Jill thought it seemed more like a half an hour than five minutes. It was all good, though. We made it to the beautiful Polynesian Resort, ate our delicious breakfast out on a beautiful patio with the sun streaming down between the dew-laden palm trees, and all was right with the world.

I will let you choose which version of the story to believe. :)

Haha, you crack me up MeMom! Now I don't know who's story is THE story!

Hey hun, how are you? Did you have a good easter?

Hey! I'm doing good. BUSY. Easter was good. B/F and I had hangovers though, lol. It was his 21st birthday Saturday night and we went bar hopping with his friends.

I think you really DO know! You've read enough of my stories about how all those evil Disney rides try to suffocate me! :rotfl: This one was no exception...only I don't think I panicked quite as much as Jill thinks I did. It was a quiet calm panic - no screaming or crying involved. Maybe a little pacing and a little quiet wondering aloud if they knew there were passengers, namely US, on board.

Ah Happy Birthday to you BF, did you guys have a good time? My 21st seems like years ago now

The monorail!!! Now that is maybe my favourite attraction! I will not ride the boat over - its just not right!!! I don't like boats at the best of times! There is somethign fabulous about geting on and hearing the commentary. I have an old version of the commentary on my ipod and it always cheers me up when it comes on. Kids love it too.

Riding up front on the monorail is great too. Last year we did it twice - the first time it was raining so hard you could not see out of the window AT ALL!! The driver assured me that she didn't need to see in order to drive it but it still made me nervous! Why don't they put wipers on those things????

The second time was bittersweet. We had left the MK to go the airport to head home and both girls were crying. The driver was super sweet cheering them up. He was lovely and gave them lovely wee souvenirs to take home.

Was it your 21st you had that luau party for?

Yep, that's right! You have a good memory.

The monorail just makes me feel "offically" at WDW. That's so cool you have the old version of the speil!

Oh my gosh, riding up front made me so nervous! It looks scary on the tracks. LOL. I never noticed that the monorails don't have wipers!!

Aw, I hate leaving to go home. I cry too!

Yep, that's right! You have a good memory.
It remember you saying about your dress you brought for it in Disney and then the pictures of your party. So if your BF is younger than you and wasn't 21 does that mean you couldn't go out together to bars before? I am not really sure how strict they are in the US with things like that. I mean when I go they are really strict and always ID me, but over here we used to go out way before I was 18 and it was fine, so didn't know if there was places you could go. And it always seem like less younger people drink or go bar hopping but I don't know if again that is just how it seems and its actually different :confused3

BTW I had a Hawaiian/Caribbean themed party for my 18th and then my 21st I was in Orlando and went to Discovery Cove in the day and then the Spirit of Aloha in the evening. I got a luau style dress too, and just love the whole tropical atmosphere and style, its so great for celebrations. That's probably why I remembered your bday as it was the same theme as mine :thumbsup2

Oh how I love the monorail. That's really all I can say. :goodvibes When we stayed at All Star Sports in 2003 I think the thing we missed the most from the Polynesian was the monorail!

Yep, if you're not 21 you can't be in bars after 9 p.m. So, while I waited for B/F to turn 21, I'd just order a beer or something while we were out eating.

I remember you mentioning that you spent your b-day at Discovery Cove!

Aw, yeah it is easy to get used to the monorail!

Attraction of the Day...

Maelstrom

Okay, I have to admit, this ride makes me laugh. And, I think it's hilarious that it has fast passes!
