~Our June '09 adventure~ I'm home! Started TR 7/2

I've been hopping on and off the DIS for the past few weeks just to keep my subscriptions going, but now that I have time, I think it's time I start replying with the attraction of the day. Let it be said, most of the times (if the rides are the same on both coasts) I'll be saying what I remember from disneyland as I've only been to the World once.:guilty:

So here it goes.

Attraction of the Day...

Star Tours

B/F and I went on this one for our first time back in '07..I'm claustrophobic so I was freaking out the whole ride...I don't remember much! I just remember digging my nails into B/F's arm!

I don't remember much from this one, other than the fact that it was lame in WDW compared to California. I do remember, though, wanting to desperately to take my picture with the big figures outside, but not being able to because it was raining, and my mom didn't want to pull out her camera.

I do love you tattoo, I think it's sweet. ;)

I like all your new tees, I never knew Sears sold Disney tees. You are lucky to have such a great DMom to buy you them all.

My DD has the Ariel pyjamas like the tee you wore last year. They have satin bottoms. She has the Tinkerbell set too. So cute. :cutie:

I almost bought her the Mickey & Minnie heart one at our Disney Store but it was $22.50. I'm waiting until they do the 2 for deal.

I could get carried away buying WDW tees! I want them all! :rotfl:

(I hate to be nosy but, where did you buy the Dr.Scholls sandals?)

I'm glad you like my tattoo! :)

I was so surprised that my mom bought them! I was just going to pick out 2 or so that were my fav. and buy them myself!

Haha, that's because my Ariel shirt IS a pajama shirt. It doesn't look like it though, does it?

I bought my Dr.Scholls flip flops at Famous Footwear!!! And that's not nosy at all! :)

Nice to have you aboard! Like I said, we won't be hard to miss--as my youngest, Boo, kind of stands out. It's her personality.

I wish I could go to Disneyland so I could compare rides to WDW rides!

Attraction of the Day...

Mission Space

I have not done this one yet..I'm claustrophobic and a big chicken! So I'd love to hear anyone else's story about this one because I don't think I'll ever ride it.

Argh, I've fallen behind...again.

People Mover
I love this ride!! We ride it at least a dozen times while we're there. I also love saying, "Now approaching [insert destination here]" in that voice all the time to DH. It annoys the crap out of him! We take random pics on there ALL the time. Here are a few:

My sister, nephew and me

My sister, touching up her makeup on TTA. :rotfl:

Mission Space

I've never done this ride. I'm too chicken! Actually, I hate small spaces and I REALLY hate spinning. :scared:

Oh. Mission Space. :) We're big motion sickness people, but we wanted to do it anyway so we choose side green. We stood in line for 30 minutes maybe then started on our mission to Mars, only to have it stop, 10 seconds before the very end of the ride. They let us of and a CM kept saying it was a "technical problem" but when my mom and I saw someone leaning over a trashcan at the exit, we knew it'd been a "protein spill".

Sis and I love the part on the people mover where it's "Citizens of Tomorrowland...Join Buzz Lightyear on a daring space mission to save the universe from the evil Emperor Zurg! Report to Star Command at Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin!" We scream it.

Aw, your nephew is adorable! And your sis doing her makeup?! HAHA, looks like my sis!

Glad I'm not the only one who's scared to ride Mission Space! :)

EWWWWWWW a "protein spill"! :scared:

Hi. I read your last trip report but did not comment. My family and I (10 of us total) will be going in June, but we leave the day you arrive. I can't wait to read your next trip report.

We havn't gone on Mission space...I am too chicken too. I've had vertigo before and am afraid to risk it. I don't know what I'm missing so I can live with that. :rotfl:

Thanks for the info on the shoes, I'll have to see if there's one in the mall I go to. :thumbsup2

I just got to the part about TEST TRACK.

This is a funny story but it isn't mine. Back in 2005, my mom (along with my aunt) took my two girls and my cousin's daugther to disney. (Well, my girls have ridden Test Track many times on trips with me.) Anyway, my mom had never ridden Test Track. All three girls told my mom that they wanted to ride the "cars". So, they went to the front of the ride building. Well, my mom heard the cars going around the loop outside. She said no way because it was "too fast". :confused3

Well, of course, the girls were upset. After the trip, I explained to my mom that the ride was safe for the girls to ride.

Now, fast forward to 2008. We start planning our big family trip for June 2009. Both my girls "remind" their grandma that "we can't pass up the "cars" ride. It is not scary and we have to ride it".

It is just so funny hearing them say this because they "remind" her every time we talk about the trip.

Aw, I really wish you would've commented! I don't bite. :) So cool we're both going in June!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one chicken of MS! I don't ever have the urge to try it either!

I hope you find the shoes!

i've only ridden MS once. it was in may of 2007 when we went for the first time as adults. i took some dramamine just in case and it seemed to work for me because i was fine! the funniest thing about it was that we get in there, sit down, get all strapped in and ray looks down and says, "ARE THOSE BARF BAGS????" i looked and sure enough, they were. i think that's the first and only time i've seen barf bags actually ON a ride! luckily no one in our space shuttle had to make use of them.

Okay, I've decided on who I think you look like. IMO, it's a cross between Brittany Murphy, Jennifer Love Hewwitt (but blonde of course) and Rachel McAdams a tiny bit. I would say like... 40/40/20?:rotfl:

How's that for getting exact about it?:rotfl2:

i just read back and it seems that i'm the only idiot that has braved the orange side of mission space.

COME ON PEOPLE - WHERE'S YOUR SENSE OF ADVENTURE????

:rotfl2:

i'm TOTALLY kidding. if i had motion sickness or claustrophobia, i would stay FAR away too!

OT-or should I say, on a prior topic? I got my Fit Flops today! I really like them. Have you been wearing yours?

Star Tours: I seem to be one of the few that likes this ride.:confused3 And I have to say that all this talk with the stories of all these rides is seriously making me want to go to Disneyland! Someone said the DL version was better, but I honestly don't remember the difference. I can tell you that I got to ride it the year it was first introduced in DL!:woohoo:

My unfavorite memory that I can't help but think of is that of my mom riding this ride. She just can't take it at all, she ends up closing her eyes and then she gets really disoriented and doesn't feel well at ALL for a while following.

My favorite memory is how DS could do a total recap of the ride after one ride. He went through a major Star Wars phase (he wanted to try to dress Jedi-like ALL the time, wearing nothing but brown, tan, and black, in solid colors).

Mission Space: We figured DS should ride the calm side, and the wait was short, it was pm EMH. We rode that. It was fun. DS was just a tad to short to really enjoy it totally though. He could see the screens very well. DH was just so eagar to ride the spinning side. Turns out there is a total playground/gaming area where you get off of Mission Space, so I supervised DS while DH went back to hop on the spinning side. He was glad he did it, but he did say he felt pretty messed up from riding it.

Hey now...where's my sense of adventure?! I'd like to adventure away from puking and freaking out in a closed space. Thank you Dawn! :lmao:

Oh I'm so glad you like your fit flops! I haven't worn them yet since they're back home. But, I will wear them this upcoming week while I'm home on break!

And that's okay if you're one of the only ones who likes Star Tours! To each their own! I'm one of the only ones I've found on here who really likes Tony's!

Ugh, I still think I'll pass on MS!

So, I decided to try the orange (that's the original side, right?) with DF the last time we went. I was so scared during the whole line; they keep telling you to look forward; if you look sideways, you will get sick, etc. etc.

When we got strapped in, we ended up being with two other girls my age. I was terrified; I'm not normally claustrophobic, but I felt terrible and like I was trapped in there. The girl next to me grabbed for the barf bag right when it was over, too.

Obviously, I hate it. I refuse to even go on the "safe" side. I actually thought the ride was really stupid, too. It makes it sound like you control the whole thing, and all you do is hit a flashing button when yours lights up. My dad hated it too, and he loves thrill rides. We were both just praying for it to stop as soon as the ride had started.

DH refused to ride it on our honeymoon after he had heard me talk about how horrible it was. I just don't understand how anyone likes that one..

Ooo I have never done this ride as I get motion sickness quite bad and really couldn't deal with feeling bad. However, I would like to try it one day, it just needs to be my final ride so I don't spend the rest of the time feeling ill like I did after the Aladdin thing in DisneyQuest and Wild Artic at SW. My Dad and Nick went on it though and went on the wrong side, the easy one. They came out acting all hard saying "That wasn't that bad, I don't know what people are talking about", until we pointed out they had done the easy one :lmao:

Ugh, well thanks for sharing that with me because I will never ever ride it!

I absolutely love MS! I started on the Green side, and was like, "Ho hum." I and a friend immediately got off and went to the fastpasses so we could come back later with my daughter. I rode MS's orange 3 more times in October! I can't wait to ride it again! It really is tough on people who are really claustorphobic, though.
