Trip Dates: 09/17 thru 09/24 (fall break for our County)

Cast: Me (Mom); DH, DD19 (skipped a week of college  ), DS16, and DS9 twins.

Destination: Fort Wilderness or Bust!!

We started driving around 8:00am - arrived around 5:00pm. Lots of bladders to accommodate on the way down, and pulling the trailer makes the trip a little slower. And, while mentioning the trailer, our van tells us that we averaged a whopping 10.7 mpg on our trip.

When we arrived there was one check-in window open with two people in front of us, and we waited in line for about 1/2 an hour (the people in front of us were "walk-ins"). For those of you not familiar with FW, you wait in your car and do a "drive-thru" check-in.

We drove to our site, cooked some burgers on the grill for dinner, and got settled for the night in preparation for our first day in the parks on Sunday. Lost $2.00 in the (empty) ice machine.

On Sunday, up at 7:00am to visit MK. Walked from our loop (500) to the marina to catch the ferry - easy as pie. This would be a good time to tell you about the lines - WHAT LINES? We never waited our entire trip more than 10 minutes in any line. The first day, the only ride that we used Fast Pass for was Peter Pan! We had lunch at Columbia Harbour House between 12:30 and 1:00 - there were more EMPTY tables than occupied ones :earseek: . Around 5:00 began our trek to MGM for dinner and EMH. Dinner at Sci-Fi was fun - I didn't tell the kids exactly what it was, so they were surprised. We had a "car" that seated six. DD and I had burgers, DH and DS16 had ribs, and DS9 twins had the triple stack grilled cheese (we were not on any dining plan). DH and I had a nice cold beer with our meals. The food was good and filling, but we are not "foodies" by any stretch of the imagination. We had planned on Fantasmic this night, but dinner lasted a little longer than expected, so we got to ride the rides with even less than the meager lines we had been experiencing. We stayed until about 10:00 and were able to ride RnR over and over.

On Monday, up around 8:00 to visit MGM again. Did everything else at MGM today, including RnR ad nauseum again! :goodvibes . By the way, did I mention that my entire family loves thrill rides and are complete commandos? One of the twins did not care for ToT, and would not ride it again after the 2nd time, but that is the only ride that was not liked by any of us. ETA: I almost forgot - we ate a late lunch at Prime-Time Cafe. DH had the meatloaf, I had the fried chicken, DD had some kind of sandwich, I don't remember what the boys had. We all had shakes that were great. We enjoyed Who Wants to be a Millionnaire, and split up so that DD and me saw Beauty & Beast show while all the boys went to Indiana Jones. The new stunt show was pretty cool. We took the backlot tour - try to take this when the stunt show is NOT being performed, because you can't hear a word that the narrator is saying otherwise. Went in and sat down for Fantasmic around 7:30 - had no problem finding great seats and we loved it. Returned to the camper fairly early and did not have to set the alarm for the next day!

Stay tuned for part 2!
