We had 7 of us working on blankets, cutting, trimming, pulling the tassels etc etc. Our local do it at home blanket required 2 blankets per person (still well worth it) and below is our "stack'o'blankets" :) Delivering them today! Was a lot of fun making them too!

It was a lot of fun actually. Myself and the other 2 husbands actually helped without screwing anything up :). We were going to try to do a 'free' volunteer thing, but with one family having 3 kids it was going to be hard for them to break away, plus we all have full time jobs, so we wanted to be able to do something together when we could make the time. So it cost us each probably about $20 for the 2 blankets each, still will be 14 blankets for kids that need them, and we still get the vouchers!

We are making our blankets today. I bought some adorable Disney fleece and I am so anxious to get to work, but I've found such conflicting advice on finishing the blankets.

Your blankets are beautiful. Can I ask...how long did you make your fringe? Did you knot it? :confused3

TIA.

The fringe is 4". All we did was what is showed on the project linus website. We made a small (very small) slit with a seam ripper, then pulled the fringe thru.

We did Project Linus blankets too, and loved it! I'd suggest contacting the chapter you are involved with for GAD - the chapter we worked with said that each chapter has unique needs and preferences. For example, our GAD chapter needed double-sided fleece blankets, and really preferred those to the single layer. Then I described the method we were considering and asked the organizer about it before we started. Other chapters need single-layer with the loop-through fringe (like the pattern on the project linus website.) So with all the conflicting advice on how to make the blankets, I was really glad I asked!

We just completed 10 blankets for the central Ohio chapter today. We did 6 in the 1.5 yard size, and 4 larger ones for older kids. We also did a mix of tying the knots on the fringe and doing the slit/loop finish as shown on the national site. Our chapter will take both - they did specify single layer blankets though, and also requested prints (no solids). Good luck!

We did 16 blankets for our local chapter. It was so much fun and so quick and easy to do. For fleece blankets, our local chapter only accepts single layer fleece in bright children's prints, no solids. They also weren't picky about the size -- we did most of the blankets the larger size specified but then the coordinator told us that she needed tiny blankets and to just take one yard of fleece, cut it in half, and make tiny blankets that size, so that's how we finished the rest of ours.

It was a lot of fun and my girls want to make more blankets for Project Linus. :goodvibes
