Our FP+ testing experience 7/19

This is our family. We don't have smart phones and our tablet won't download the app.

This is my in-laws, too. We were talking about all of the changes this weekend and they said their trip this year will be their last because Disney no longer appeals to people who want the same opportunities that everybody else has without having to plan your entire vacation months before you arrive. What they say they want to do 60 days before might not be the same when they arrive.

So you are allowed to take them off and put them back on over the course of your trip? My concern was getting stuck sleeping with it on or swimming when it would be annoying!

They are snap on/off style bands. I think you might actually want to wear them while swimming as you don't have to carry a room key then. It is quite handy for that purpose.

And I was just able to book FP+ selections for tomorrow at Epcot. We are going to keep booking selections until the 1day tickets no longer work, half exp on the 28th and half on the 29th so I assume thats when it will stop working. It's mostly just for personal curiosity at this point although I don't really think I want to go to the parks every day for the next week. ;)

As we'll be testing FP+ in mid-August, for planning purposes it'll be great to hear from other testors in early August regarding FP-. I admit to being skeptical that this latest test will permit double dipping. I'm ok with that -- it certainly appears doing so might adversely impact other guests (maybe a little or perhaps a lot). On the other hand, zero access to the traditional system isn't all lollypops either.

I can see the park hopping option (traditional FPs unavailable only in whichever park one has scheduled FP+ attractions) being a suitable compromise.

FP and Magic Band glitches notwithstanding, give me dinner at San Angel, a few afternoons by the pool, throw in Wishes and FOTLK and I'll be a happy boy.

Delmar,

So, if I take one of my old used tickets (still has water park options), can I link those until we arrive and redeem our AP vouchers? That would be great.

I have no idea honestly. I still don't understand why we are able to continue to book selections but I suspect it has to do with the ticket having an expiration date that hasn't passed yet.

You could probably test your idea and link the old ticket, then see if it allows you to book FP+ for a day (any day) and then you will have an idea whether or not that is doable. There is nothing to lose by linking that type of ticket since you only have water park options left.

With your phone in airplane mode, turn on the Wifi, which is free inside all parks and Disney resorts. Voila!

If you do not have a phone I read they have FP+ kiosks in the parks where you can make /change /cancel FP+ selections.

You just seriously made my day with this alone lol. I never thought to do that!

Well, try as I might, it won't accept my old tickets with water parks.. Bummer

I have a question on the fireworks and the fast pass+ I know I read somewhere that you could book a special viewing section but I don't see it anywhere as on option on the DME. Am I doing something wrong or not looking in the correct place.

Is it DME or MDE? I thought DME stood for Disney's Magical Express? And the app was My Disney Experience? :confused3 I'm getting soooo confused!:headache:

I am by no means an expert, but while I was just booking my FP+ times Wished only showed up once in the 5 days we'll be at MK. I'm not sure how it works, but we only had one opportunity to book it.

I did mean MDE-- Too many letters going round and round :lmao: but that does make sense about the options of only one day. Let me go in and look at all the days and see what options it gives me. Thanks!

I can verify that of my 8 days it only showed up as an option twice. I don't know what would trigger how often it shows up.

We used FP+ at Epcot this afternoon. Test track, soarin and maelstrom. No issues at all.

It's called the fastpass+ open door policy. Once you qualify, never ending fastpasses. Enjoy!

LOL! Not quite. I can't book anything past our ticket expiration date which is July 29th. I suppose if I wanted to link my APs, I could continue to book out FP+ selections but I have no desire to do so.

I just find it quite funny that the FP+ requires valid park admission but yet apparently that is not really the case. I'm waiting to see what happens with the guest testing.

Delmar, Do I understand correctly that you were able to also use the regular FP system with your FP+?

We are on the trial in two weeks and I can't wait! :)

Thanks for all your info so far.

Correct, and this continues to be the case.

I'm sure you will have a very smooth trial of the system. I hope my info proves useful for you. :)

And just as a side note, the MDE app hasn't worked for me in days. I can't pull up anything I need, the app just keeps crashing, to so I've been writing our times on a scrap of paper and taking that with me to the parks. IT is aware of the issues but I guess hasn't been able to fix it. I'm using Android so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
