Today we actually had a wake up call as Dh needed to be at the 9:30 Segway Tour. He got up first and took off to Epcot shortly after. I got ready and then woke Dd. We stuffed her rather bulky princess dress in the backpack and hurried to the bus stop. It took awhile for the bus to come...of course, as we had a limited amount of time to get to the Tea Party...I was getting a bit nervous so I practiced my zen breathing...
The bus finally arrived and we were off to the MK monorail and then on to the Grand Floridian. We made it just as the princeses were checking in. We stepped off to the side and slipped into the beautiful Aurora dress from the backpack and took some great pics in the elegant lobby...a perfect background for a princess. This was a great mother-daughter experience and we soooo enjoyed our morning tea in the bright, pretty tea room. This was a top notch Disney experience...a 7 year old's dream. We were seated at our table and Dd picked up her doll that looked just like her, as their dresses matched. When she ufolded her napkin, a charm bracelet fell out. The story and music were very good and totally entertaining. The visit with Sleeping Beauty was magical. I sat through the entire thing with a lump in my throat. It was just that sweet!
After it was over, we were directed upstairs to the gift shop (so we could spend even more $$
) to get a princess scrapbook pages kit and of course check out the wall of outfits for the My Disney Girl doll. Dd picked out a very cute Minnie Mouse outfit and I bought her a Sleeping Beauty charm for her bracelet. All in all, it was a wonderful, totally magical morning... one that we will always remember.
Next, we walked around the Grand Floridian and got some pressed pennies, found the food court so we could get some cold drinks with our snack credits and headed out to the monorail and back to POFQ for some pool lounging.
When we got back, we slipped into our suits and down to the food court for a little something...ended up getting a philly sandwich, cold drink and fruit cup. Dd and I shared the drink, she ate the fruit cup and I had half of the sandwich. Yucky food at the food court...my one complaint about this resort.
Then we hit the pool. I found a chair and read my book while I watched Dd go down the slide 1000 times. I was reading Demons and Angels, which was such a fun summer read...tho I have to say, I didn't get much time to read at WDW!
In the meantime, Dh got back and joined us at the pool. He brought back yummy pastries from France and shared his morning adventures. He really enjoyed the Segway Tour (does anybody not?) and just had a lot of fun hangin' out at World Showcase. He had sushi with German beer for lunch and wandered a bit before coming back to the resort. He and Dd ended up staying at the pool for another hour or so while I went to the room to get ready for the evening's activities (and read a bit more of my book). When lightning finally forced them out of the pool, Dd and Dh came up and we all prepared to take off on our evening adventure.
We were headed to the Poly for dinner at Ohana. We arrived at the Poly a bit early so we could explore and we were glad we did, because we really liked this resort. When we finally checked in, we were given a beeper and we found a lovely table in the lounge, while Dd ordered us fruity, tropical drinks.(well, he got a spicy tropical drink...he is much too manly for the fru fru drinks
) We sat there sipping for about 20 to 30 minutes before our table was ready. It was soooo nice.
We were seated in the main dining room next to the grill and coconut races. It was great. What a fun place this is. Dh LOVED the skewers! I couldn't believe how many he could eat. We all thouroughly enjoyed the food here. Everything was excellent. The meats were super moist and very flavorful. Another awesome meal. The pineapple dipped in caramel ended up being Dd's favorite dessert of the trip.
After dinner, we hopped on the monorail to the MK once again. We went to Fantasyland and walked right into Mickey's Philharmagic. We enjoyed this very much...the best 3-d movie I've seen. Next we waited about 20 minutes to ride Peter Pan, which is one of my favorite DL rides. This one was not as good as DLs. After Peter we watched Tink fly by the castle, then watched the rest of Wishes from Fantasyland. Wow, it seemed like the fireworks were gonna land right on us. This is such a great show! We walked right on Snow White when the fireworks ended and shopped in Tinkerbell's Treasures where I found a cute t shirt. Then we staked a spot in front of the castle to wait for Spectro. I took lots of castle pictures while we waited. It really is so beautiful at night. We enjoyed Spectro, but like the Electric Parade at DL better. We headed out after that through the Main Street shops and Dd bought the stuffed Lady and the Tramp she had been waiting get. I bought these same ones at DL when I was her age. Some things never change!
We were tired and headed back to the resort with the hordes.and went to sleep. Another magical day.
