Dates: June 1-6
Resort: Caribbean Beach
Cast of characters:
Me, 39, wife, mom, and obsessive trip planner.
DH, 42, skeptic, who recently crossed over to the DIS side.
DD, 15, has a major princess complex.
DS, 12, plans amost as obsessively as mom.
Day 2: AK and MGM
When the phone rings this time, I make DS answer it. "OK, now do you believe me about Mickey calling?", I ask him. He doesn't have time to answer me because he's now running to the bathroom to get ready, because MICKEY SAID SO!
We have a 9:50 ps at Donald's so we head straight for AK.
We take our time entering the park and just take in all the sights and sounds. This is such a beautiful park. I could not believe it. I really did not expect to like this park and thought we'd be ready to leave after breakfast. I was SO wrong!
No wait for It's Tough to Be a Bug, so we go on in. What a fun show! I'm not sure which I laughed at more; what was on the screen or the people in the audience!
On to Dino Land for breakfast. This was our first character meal and it did not disappoint. Great food and great character interaction.
After our meal, we wander around the park and into Harambe Village to check out Safari. We get a fp and stroll into one of the shops. I could get into serious trouble here! I end up limiting myself to a beautiful carved stoned picture frame in the shape of mickey ears and a t-shirt that I found on the clearance rack. I love a bargain! Meanwhile, a steady rain had started to fall, so we hang out in the shop for a little while longer.
When it lets up a little, we head to Safari. It seemed the rain had virtually cleared out the park, so our fp was not really needed.
Safari was great. We saw so many animals. I guess the cool rain had brought them out. Our guide was really convincing. DS truly believed we were about to become crocodile food on the shaky bridge! I didn't tell him otherwise. After all, he doesn't believe in Santa anymore. I'll take a little magic wherever I can get it!
DD is a real animal lover, so this ride was perfect for her. I believe she would have just stayed here all day if they would let her.
Next, we go back to Dino Land and ride Dinosaur with maybe a five minute wait. DS is not sure he wants to ride this. He hates the thought of things "popping out at you" unexpectedly. After a little ribbing from his dear big sister, he decides to give it a try.
What a great ride! We all come off laughing. DD is still teasing DS about being afraid. We check out our photo. Does DS look scared? Who is that ducking down with their arms covering their head? Why, it's DD! We still haven't let her live that one down!
At this point, we decide to take a break and go back to CBR for a while. The kids swim while DH and I rest in the room.
Around 3:30, we hop on the bus for MGM. We walk on Star Tours. Hmmm... somehow I was expecting more. Oh, well. DS is a big fan and he really enjoyed it.
Next is Muppet Vision 3d. Now this was fun!
We have a ps for 50's PT so that's where we head, after fighting our way through the parade crowd. I'd kind of forgotten about this when making our ps. Oh well. We made it.
After a fun but loooong dinner, we check out the rest of the park. Most of the shows had already ended for the day. We walk through the One Man's Dream exhibit and the go over to Tower of Terror. We get a fp and shop around some. As soon as we can. we get on TOT. This is the most amazing ride ever! I cannot get over the amount of detail that Disney put into this. Awesome! I don't think I've ever had so much fun on any ride. Our picture turned out pretty good so we bought it.
By now, it is almost 10:00 (where did the time go?) and the park will be closing. We are hanging around for the second showing of Fantasmic. The CM had told us just to come around 10:15 and we'd get right in. Well, not exactly! There is a very large crowd waiting outside the theatre at 10:00 so we just get in line with everybody else. At 10:05, we start moving. We move about ten feet. Then for the next 20 minutes, we repeatedly walk about 6 inches then stop and wait. FINALLY, we get to the actual theatre. Just in time to start the show. Our seats were pretty good, I guess. We were in the Pocohontas section, just above the middle. We all enjoyed this show. I just wish I could have seen the water screens better. We were a little too far to the side, I think. After the show, we take our time getting out. I had no desire to repeat the 'walk 6 inches and stop' scenario. The crowd finally thins out and we head out and onto our waiting bus.
Good night.
