Hello, we are planning an April 09 Trip to FW, 8 nights. We have been to Disney before, but this is our first time with the TT, can anyone offer any tips, and info for the ride down 95 from mass.

A great big HOWDY to you and welcome to the Dis.!! Dont know about 95 ,I'm sure someone will help you there. But I can say that you'll truly enjoy camp'n the Fort, so much to do there! If you dont already know bout it , be sure to check out the Electric Pageant Parade that comes by the campground at the lake each night at 9:45 PM . Also a great place to check out MK fireworks is at the campground lake. check out this site... www.title-3.com ,,,,Ft.Wilderness, you dont have to be Goofy to camp here but it sure makes it fun !!:thumbsup2

This link might help you somehttp://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1716180 also pm me if you like I drive 95 alot for work between Phila. and Richmond I might be able to help you more.

Sorry I thought the link would work there is a topic on this site offering tips on 95 it was a few pages ago.

Once you get to Jacksonville, you might want to take 9a south to avoid town and also depending on when you come through Jax. I am sure other Jax. natives here might shed some light on how the construction is going on around town.

Welcome! We are also from the area and have travelled the route to Disney many times. I have gone with the parents as a kid towing a TT and have taken different routes, including 95. Most people from this area like to avoid the DC stretch, and most take Route 84 and the TappanZee Bridge (sp?). Avoid the George Washington Bridge at all costs.

The last road trip we did in Oct 2006 was along Rte 84 to Rte 81 south through Virginia. Much more scenic and many more places to stop along the way. It might have just been the time of year, but it seems like everytime we have travelled that route it seems less stressful and fewer "idiots".

Our first trip down with our own TT will be this August, and we were considering the coastal route, but figure all the summer tourist traffic will make that too time consuming. The drive through Jersey to take the Cape May Ferry, then down to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel is a memorable and enjoyable one in the spring.

There was a thread recently that brought up a lot of good tips for the I-95 route, including best ways to avoid Jacksonville during traffic times. Best of luck.

By the way, nice camping set-up in your sig.

We are thinking of leaving Mass after dinner on a Wednesday, (this should get us away from any traffic in the cities through NY). I was planning on checking in at the Fort on Sunday. After 8 nights in Disney, we were thinking of working our way back along some coastal route, I would really like to spend a few nights in Hilton Head, then work our way home, thru the Chesapeke Bay/bridge tunnel. This would be the little guys last year of pre-school, so I was thinking a 2 1/2 week trip all together. Thank you all for all the help. I know it's early planning, but as most of you all know, some of the CG's you need to book a year in advance.

If you are leaving Weds night and checking in FW Sunday you'll have plenty of time going down. We drive from Ohio and like to stop in Ga. somewhere for a night or two to relax and unwind from the packing and driving. I can recommend stopping at Jekyll Island. (South of Savannah) There is a great state park here. Prices are reasonable. The beach is within biking distance for adults but probably too far for young children, but well worth visiting even during the winter. ( Our favorite time! ) Ample public parking if you drive. Jekyll Island is about 5 hrs from Disney. Another CG we stop at is at exit 1 in Ga. It is right on the Florida state line. http://www.countryoaksrv.com/ There is also a KOA at this exit. This is also a good exit to fill up on gas/diesel. Prices will be higher in Fla. Its a quick 3 hr drive from here to Disney.:goodvibes

We just did the "car travel" from Mass to FL (no camper attached though).
We left at 1030AM and drove through NY, George Washington Bridge at 230PM (no problems or traffic). Our GPS system avoided the whole DC-Beltway and took us on some parkway. I'm not sure if RVs are allowed on that.
There are a lot of tolls in NJ, DE, and MD

Traveling on I95 was very pleasant in VA, NC, SC, and GA. Lots of cops in GA!!! In FL, we took I10 to I295 back to I95 to avoid the Jacksonville construction on the way down.

Someone mentioned an alternative route I84 to I81. NOTE: This is very hilly especially in PA.

Let me know if you have specific questions.
