Our first trip to Disney at Christmas - the plan so far

Ohhhh 15 nights at Saratoga Springs?!?! That is awesome!!! You will love it there...SSR is our home resort as well. In fact, we'll be there some of the time you are, only we're staying at the Beach Club Villas. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

How feaky is that, I just found your PTR :rotfl: I've read one page but will hopefully catch up tonight :thumbsup2

The castle looked so beautiful (almost brought a tear to my eye and I don't cry often :goodvibes I can't wait to see it now - 86 days to go :cool1: )

I can't wait to see all the resorts too - we've stayed at BC twice and love it there, you guys will have a fab time

Anyhoo, off to read some more of your PTR :surfweb:

Forgot to post these, again I got them on sale from Disney Shopping - hopefully I won't get blisters, I will have to wear them when I know we won't be walking much (can you do that at WDW? :lmao: ) just incase ;)

You do know what the temperature is like in December in Florida, right? What is it like where you are from that time of year?

We once went to Blizzard Beach in December. The only people there were from Canada and the UK. The lifeguards all wore parkas and shivered the whole time but we loved it! There was no one else there so we had the whole park to ourselves. We just said "What??!?! :confused3 This is warmer than the cottage in August!"
:lmao:

:lmao:

Hmmmm, I was wondering - maybe socks with the flip flops :lmao:

I do realise it'll be cooler, I'm hoping for weather we get in spring. Trouble is I only know the temperature in centigrade, we never learnt farenheit at school (although we did learn how to convert cm to inches and metres to feet :confused3 ) I know 90 degrees is hot (about 30 centigrade) but not sure lower down :rolleyes1

I am planning on taking sweaters and cardigans (also jumpers - but I'm sure you guys use that word for a type of dress?! - which are another word for sweater) and trousers (pants), also tights just in case I want to wear a skirt at night.

In Dec here it will probably be very chilly and raining :guilty: as it has most of the summer (not too cold but not hot). When we went in October last year and flew back home it was really frosty here - such a difference.

I can't wait to try the empty pool at the resort :thumbsup2 , DH will probably skip it but I love swimming. As you say comparatively it'll be warm.

Wearing tights is a good idea for the evenings. When I went with friends in Dec 05, they would get up in the morning all set for warm days. But, we were out all day into the night, and they got chilly. They wished they didn't wear thosse flip-flops that morning! Look for highs around 23c and lows around 12c.

I had a picture of what they looked like at night at the Osborne Family lights (DHS), but I can't find it right now. They had on jeans, fleece jackets, flip-flops and hats and gloves!

From reading wdwgirl03 PTR I was reminded about pin trading :)

We've been buying pins over the last few years but have never traded any (I find I don't want to trade any I buy as I like them too much :rolleyes1 ).

I've taken a few pics of the ones we have and later I'm going to go through them and find some to trade.

We have a couple of limited edition pins and special pins, they will definately not be traded!

Sorry this one is a bit bright, it's of a Halloween Mickey

Nice one, thanks for the tip. I think I'll be ok with a coat or a couple of layers. It was about 12c yesterday and unless it's windy it's bearable. But if we are out all day I will pack something else to put on in the evening. 23c is nice :goodvibes not too hot but still (for the UK) summery :beach:

I can just picture your friends wrapped up like snowmen :rotfl:

I'm just so glad we Dis other wise we'd be there in t-shirts and shorts freezing our bottoms off :rotfl2:

Oh that reminds me, we got some cool hats in DLRP. They were a god send there - it was soooo windy and wet :scared:

I'll take some pics :thumbsup2

Ohhh cool pins! I am the same way, I don't think I could give away any of the ones I buy in the parks. :confused3

I think the way to go is to get pins you already have so there's no reason to keep them. LOL!

Yeah buy two of each of the ones you want to keep - I like your thinking :thumbsup2

Here are some of DH's pins

The Union Flag on a Mickey head;) The number of people that hear our accent and think we're Australian :rotfl: - although I find it hard to tell if someone is Canadian  DH hoped this would help (he wears some of his pins on a baseball cap)

2853040849_cab9ee7d4d.jpg

We got this bag at DLRP (coz we bought so much stuff :lmao: ), not sure if I'll need it, gonna try and do laundry whilst we're there to save on taking to much (famous last words  )

2852729399_e695455767.jpg

Oh and before I forget - we have cancelled the Captains Grille Sat 20th (I'm afraid DH got cold feet after listen to the Podcast a couple of weeks back:lmao: but I understand why) so instead we got a lunch ADR (I prefered the sound of the lunch, Ploughmans for me YUMMY) at Rose and Crown 1.40pm, the deserts sound good too.
We'll see if it shapes up to proper British grub :thumbsup2

Catching up ... but: Just a Minute, Here!! pirate:

You're coming AAAALLLL the way from England - and then are gonna eat an an "English" pub??? :upsidedow

I've never eaten at the R&C, but ... :crazy2:

It makes us feel at home :goodvibes (plus we love R&C - DH shares his birthday with Carl the bar manager and he remembers us:thumbsup2 )

I don't think we would have tried it but the Podcast review of the Captains Grille have caused us to boycott it and this was a good alternative.

As I said I'm gonna see how it compares ;) Can't be any worse than some of the places Gordon Ramsey has tried to save (have you seen the UK version of Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares?) - some guy made him throw up when he used rancid scollops in his (alleged) signature dish :rotfl: Don't approve of the language but that guy is funny :lmao:

Well - we may be stopping by for some fish 'n' chips one night, too ... :rolleyes1

... and depending on how the DD is behaving, a pint or 6 ... !! :lmao:

[Right now she's almost-5 going-on 13 ... the DW and I are DOOMED ... :scared: ]

Good man - when in Rome eh? :lmao: Although I don't think the fish and chips are the best, Harry Ramsdens is a chain over here and you have to get fish and chips from the the smaller shops that have been going for years. Still they are definately different to fries.

I do hope your DD gets to make the most of her childhood, some of the girls at the summer camp seemed so grown up for their age. So much different than 15 -20 years ago when I was growing up (saying that I lived in a small village where everyone knew each other, pretty much everyone was white, quite a sheltered life).

Just listen for the "eh"
;)

Ha :rotfl: I didn't want to offend anyone by mention the usual sterotypes ;) The other thing that springs to mind is South Park, but somehow I don't think you guys have those floppy heads :lmao:

DH actually offended some Canadians when he thought they were Americans  - funny tho :rotfl2:

OK so for the freezing cold nights! We got all of these from DLRP.

I saw a few people wearing this hat and was hunting high and low for a shop that sold them. We were in one near the Buzz Lightyear ride in the Disneyland Park and I spotted this little fella totally out of place where someone must have just put it down
('Mummy can I have this?'
'No, put it back'
'Oh Mum pleeeeaseeeee'
'I said NO!')

Now it was MINE :thumbsup2

2853040075_154277fe43.jpg

This one is also mine (it was on sale) I thought it was quite distinctive, I don't recall seeing it at WDW - although knowing my luck now in Dec everyone will be wearing them :rotfl:

2853039185_90dbb53d5f.jpg

DH choose this one (they also had chefs hats with little Remy sitting in the brim, but it didn't fit his head:upsidedow )

2853875668_9ed1538eae.jpg

And I did tell him to take a scarf with him :headache: But no, he'd be ok

So when we were there and it was gale force arctic winds we quickly had to find some non-girly scarves :rotfl2:

Luckily they did a nice line of NBC stuff
