My husband and I and our 4 and 6 year olds will be headed to the Fort next week for the first time. We are so excited!

We are flying down and renting a pop up. We will not have a car. I am trying to figure out the best way to get groceries to our campsite.

Has anyone had Amazon deliver to the Fort? If we had a couple of boxes of groceries delivered the day before we arrived would they hold them for us? How easy would it be to transport the groceries from wherever we would need to pick them up to our campsite?

Does anyone have experience with the grocery delivery services? Did you feel you needed to wait around for the groceries to arrive or where you able to choose when you wanted to receive them?

Is it possible to fly with a cooler of frozen food?

Thanks in advance for you help. This board has been invaluable in our trip planning!

We used Garden Grocer back in Jan 2010 and it was fine. If I remember correctly, we selected a window based on when we thought we would arrive. Until then, they were kept at bell services. The milk was cold, so I think they have some sort of refrigeration that they use to ensure things don't spoil.

We saved a bunch of $, but eating our breakfasts in the room and then packing lunch and some snacks for the park days.

I'd recommend it, but call and double check with the resort to make sure the rules haven't changed. We were staying at the WL when we did it.

Have a great trip!!!

Depending on who you are renting your pop up from, I know the person I am renting from will do shopping for you. (no alcohol). :thumbsup2

I used wegoshop in August 2012. It was great. I shopped the store ad and made specific requests based on buy one, get one free stuff, etc. We got meat, veggies, eggs, lots of supplies for the week. We got a call with our order right when we were checking in and were met at our cabin. The lovely woman (name I forget right now) carried everything in, with my husband.

It was so convenient and everything was perfect. I would caution that you specificy how much meat you want so you don't get packages that are too big.

The trading post carries lots of basic foods, too and you can have them delivered. No fresh meats or veggies, but they do have eggs, baloney, frozen stuff, cereal, etc.

well if you need a ride to the store and your there the week of 02/03-02/09 shoot me your phone # and we could arrange something the wife lives at walmart, so! but all jokes aside we probly will do some shopping on the first sunday were there.

Can you post back or message me with how you end up getting groceries and your experience? We are heading to the fort in April and need groceries as well. I have done a lot of research but the more up to date reviews you get the better!
Have fun!!

You can use the "Search This Forum" button and use key words like

- garden grocer
- wegoshop
- groceries
- delivery

and you will find past discussions. This topic is not uncommon on the Camping Board.

Also some people have rented a car and driver to get to The Fort that includes a grocery stop.

Thanks for all the advice!

If I were to have a package delivered from Amazon would FW bring it to the campsite or would we pick it up somewhere? If we pick it up where would that be?

Without a car or golf cart I wondering if it would be difficult to carry everything to our site.

We are using Disney's Magic express to bring us (and our luggage) from the airpot to FW. Am I right in assuming we will be brought all the way to our campsite?

I am leaning towards packing a cooler full of food and checking it as one of our bags. Has anyone ever done this?

It would be waiting for you. Ask at the front desk.

Yes they will take you and your luggage to the campsite.

Here is a thread from the transportation board. Freezing the liquids and using it as your ice is a pretty good idea.

The Walmart isn't far have you considered a Taxi ride? Short drive may be worth the trip to load up on food!

I've used We Go Shop multiple times and love Amy!! She gets exactly what I ask for, shops the sales to save me money and even delivers beer/wine. And I don't have to waste my vacation time going thru a grocery store I'm not familiar with. Win all around.

Just back from a stay in a cabin, we used Garden Grocer and were very satisfied with the service. Our groceries were on the table and in the fridge when we checked in. We ordered a lot of fresh fruit ( grapes, watermelon and cantaloup) which was really great tasting. Will use them next time.:thumbsup2
Just wanted to add that the prices were much better than Disney's delivery service.
