We're planning on going end of February 2007. Along with my family (me, DH, DS8 & DS4) we were planning on inviting a couple of friends with us. If they come we need a 2 bedroom, if they don't we can use a 1 bedroom. What should I book 11 months out? We won't have finalized plans until a few months before so I don't want to get stuck. If I book a 2 bedroom and need to switch down will I have a hard time getting a 1 bedroom? What books up faster? We're new to this so any opinions will be welcome! :confused3

From all of what I've read here, 1 bedroom units are often the very last to completely book. Because you are "trying" to get SSR, and because it's so large, you may even choose to wait awhile to book anything. If you don't want to get "stuck" you can book a 1 bedroom and a studio with the thought that the studio may get cancelled. However, that's more points and you may not be together. I would probably wait, until I was more sure.

Whatever you do, here's some Pixie Dust! :wizard:

I've heard that a one-bedroom unit is the least-requested type, so you'll probably have an easier time switching from a two- to a one- than vice versa. But if you're talking February and SSR, you probably won't have a problem switching either way a few months beforehand as long as it's not President's Day weekend.

Another thing to consider: A two-bedroom is more points. Depending on your Use Year, you want to make sure you're not left with points you can't bank if you switch to a one-bedroom a few months beforehand.

If you have time to bank points into your next use year if you change, I would book a 2 bedroom and if you need to downsize to the 1 bedroom, you can bank the points into your next use year.

Thanks all! It looks like I'll be booking a 2 bedroom and seeing how our numbers turn out.
