Our first trip and our honeymoon at Disney World, what could go wrong?

Okay so I left off with DH and I leaving the Atlantis resort to go in search of the public beach. Unfortunetly for us we happened to be on the other side of the resort from the spot we needed to be to get on the road to the beach. So we walked for what seemed like forever around the Atlantis resort all the way back over to the spot were we originally started this journey. :rolleyes2 Good times!

We spotted the sign that said beach access and started walking that way, to bad the sign doesn't tell you just how far you have to walk. Granted if I hadn't been wearing flip flops and DH wasn't carrying a back pack and it wasn't 90 DEGREES OUT WITH 100% FREAKING HUMIDITY we would have been okay. :rolleyes1

Anyway it was a beautiful walk and we might have really enjoyed it more under different circumstances. Here are some photos along the way, I think DH was just trying to ignore my unpleasant ranting and raving about always carrying some cash no matter what and what I wouldn't give for taxi money and something about swimming with stingrays and stupid boats breaking down by snapping photos. :guilty:

When we got to the end of that long street you see in the photos a guy in a golf cart that worked at the hotel we were walking past actually stopped and asked us if we wanted a ride the last part of the way. Thank you nice, wonderful man you are a life savor. :worship: Seriously he was because I was fading fast and really we both looked alot like this when the guy stopped. :crazy2:

So in a flash we arrived at the beach, or I should say the last leg to get to the beach. The nice guy drops us off and we thank him a billion times and then he tells us, "No problem, now just walk up that hill and you will be there" :scared1: Again more unpleasent words, comments and such start coming from me. :rolleyes1 Thank God for him giving us a ride because it gave me a chance to get some more energy and find feeling in my legs again, enough so that I could make it up the hill, sorry I don't have a photo of it for you. We make it up the hill, me going really, really slow and when we reach the top we are bombarded by some guys renting beach chairs and umbrellas and some other stuff for you. Well I must have given them the look of death because they only tried twice with us then backed off. :scared:

FINALLY WE HAVE ARRIVED!!!!

http://

So we dropped our stuff and ran for the water and OMG was it refreshing.

We spent alot of time in the water even when it started raining. We figured since there was no lightning or thunder it was okay and the waves didn't get any bigger so we didn't feel unsafe. Plus the rain was off and on and the sun would come out bright as bright could be. I have to tell you guys because DH and I thought this was just really funny. Okay so it starts to rain the first time, really it was only a sprinkle and so DH and I start looking around at the people on the shore. Now I don't know if its just us that thought this was hysterical and rather stupid of the people in question, but I kid you not when I say that people in BATHING SUITS, ALREADY WET FROM BEING IN THE WATER WERE SCRAMBLING FOR SHELTER FROM THE RAIN. Umm HELLO? Your already wet weirdos. We couldn't figure it out  but we thought is was very amusing and it kept us entertained for a while. :rotfl2:

So here are some more pictures from our day at the beach.

Then we tried to get all artsy with our wedding rings and the water but I don't think it came out that well.

http://

So after all that drama getting to the beach, all ended up well. We had a really good time and the beach was really nice, better then we expected and we would go back again.

We decided to leave around 5pm and head back to the ship, I new we had the long walk back to the ferry's and I wanted to go while I was feeling up to it and not to tired from swimming.

So off we went and we took some more shots on the walk back.

The walk was alot better this time although still hot but the sun was going down so it was easier on us. Pretty soon we arrived at our destination.

http://

We could see our beloved home on the sea while we waited.

http://

So our boat came and we headed back, we didn't take any photos on the return trip since you just pass everything you passed the first time. Upon arriving DH asked me if I wanted to go over to Senor Frogs for a drink. I really wanted to but I felt so dirty from sweating and I reeked of salt water that I knew I wouldn't have been comfortable if we went so we just headed back to the ship.

So after we got through Festival Place and had our passports checked we stopped for our pictures under the Nassau sign.

Then finally home sweet home.

http://

http://

Once on board we realized how starving we were so instead of heading to our stateroom we headed up to Deck 9 and Pluto's to grab some food. I believe we had pizza to tide us over. This is us lounging and just relaxing for a bit.

http://

http://

Then we decided to hop into the hot tub for a bit and soothe our aching muscles from the day. I put my foot into the adult pool and man was that water cold, I was under the impression that it was heated but I guess not. Hot tub it is for me.

http://

http://

We stayed in there for about 45 min. and it felt soooooo good, I didn't want to leave but it seemed that more people decided we had a good idea and pretty soon it was getting a bit crowded.

Back in the room we showered and got dressed then plopped, literely plopped down onto the couch in the and didn't move. It was at that moment tiredness took over. So we debated on what to do for a good 20 min. and finally we decided to order room service for dinner and then see how we felt. Now this is the second night we are not having dinner with our table mates. :sad2:

We ordered our meal and soon it arrived and it was yummy.

After our bellies were stuffed we sat in a food coma for a bit and then Jay our stateroom host knocked on the door to see if we needed anything. He was unable to do our turndown service since we stayed in that night. He was such a sweetie, we asked for more towels and when he came in with them he took our dinner plates out for us and asked if we needed anything at all. I told him I was sad because I didn't get a towel animal that night and he offered to come in and show me how to make one. We did the octupus one and it was so cool.

This was the outcome of the towel octopus.

So cute, did I mention I loved Jay.

After a while DH and I decided to go off and explore the ship a bit, well not really to much because we got tired pretty quick. It was our intention to try and see the show that night and some of the other shows on board but it never happened.

DH was finally able to get a good shot of the chihuly.

That was our last picture of the day as we headed back to our room. I don't even remember putting my head on the pillow, but we were both out cold until the next morning.

Up next our day in Castaway Cay. What could possibly happen to us there? :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 Loving the report Kat abfab sweetie :thumbsup2 looking forward to reading more and loveeeeeeeeeeeee the piccys :goodvibes btw loved the wedding pics

I have never understood why people flee from water like a pack of people hungry sharks are coming when it rains. It is nice to enjoy the entire pool/ocean to yourself when this happens though.

Pics are beautiful from your beach day!

As usual I'm loving your pictures. That's pretty funny about people getting out of the water if it's raining :) Oh well, what can you do? And I love the ship...I'm hoping we get to take a Disney Cruise soon.

Sounds like you had a great time even with some disappointments :sad2: thrown in. I may have to check into a cruise. You're making it sound like a lot of fun.:goodvibes And the pics are great.

great updates, sorry about the cancellation, but hey it gives you a reason to go back right?;) it is hilarious about the people running for shelter from the rain... the same thing happened when we were vacationing in the bahamas, we just laughed at them and kept swimming... i cant wait to see what your tablemates are like when you get to the dining room. looking forward to more updates

I'm sorry that your excursion got cancelled :( I know you were looking forward to it. Hoping you liked Atlantis--I've only seen it from the air--after we flew out of Fort Lauderdale, we headed out that way to come home--at least I think it was Atlantis ;)

Looking forward to more pictures and TR

Yeah the excursion being cancelled was a real bummer, but now you are beginning to see why this TR is called what it is. :)

Atlantis was okay, it's just so huge and walking around without a real plan of attack can get very tireing very fast. If I ever go back again it will be a shore excursion or I will be staying there. (like that will ever happen)

Thank you! I have tons more photos coming up so stay tuned. :goodvibes

Yeah it was really funny and I was beginning to think we were weird for staying in the water. The beach was empty after that happened and so it was really nice. :goodvibes

I hope you get to take a Disney cruise soon too, and then I can't wait to hear all about it. :thumbsup2

Awesome review. Can't wait for more.

Sorry you were so sick.

So glad your enjoying it. It was a bummer being sick but thankfully I was feeling better during the cruise portion.

Hopefully I will be able to update tonight. :goodvibes

We did have a great time indeed but there was a reason this TR has the title it does. :rolleyes1 Ya know the saying, What doesn't kill us makes us stronger right? I swear DH and I put our marriage to the test on our honeymoon and we came out of it just fine and are able to laugh about everything.

I do hope you end up going on the cruise, it is fantastic and you will love it. :thumbsup2

It sure does give us a reason to go back and we are! Already booked for October 2010 :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: but more on that later.

It was very funny watching the people on the beach literely run for there lives when the rain hit. At one point I was doubled over laughing so hard. Ah, gotta love it!

I was scared to meet our tablemates and our servers after missing the two dinners, that was half the cruise already. :sad2: I had all sorts of horrible things running through my head about what they could be thinking. Can you say overreact much? :rolleyes1

Hope to get an update done today at some point, thanks for hanging in there and reading along. :goodvibes

I'd like to visit Atlantis too---but like you said, that will probably never happen. Oh well it's fine with me. I'd much rather spend the money to visit WDW ;) I'd have more fun too. As for the cruise, we might to that next year--or after I'm done with school!! So we'll see..I'm pretty young and have a lot of time left.

I can't wait for more pictures and I just love reading about your trip.

I am loving your trip report! I just wanted to tell you that (cause I'm only on page 4 right now :) ).

Also, and I don't know if this has been asked yet, but why did you drive to the parks? Were you boycotting Disney transportation? ;)

Oh and CONGRATULATIONS!!

I was also very happy to notice that the entire room of people did not recite the beginning ride part. I can't stand when people do that, it ruins the experience for other people, they are always doing it at Disneyland and I just want to punch them in the face.

I agree!! Sometimes they do this at WDW too. It drives me crazy as well. Or you get the people (usually grown adults:rolleyes: ) that just scream and say things to scare other people but then no one gets to hear what the guy is saying. It irritates me especially when I'm with someone who's never been on it before and they're asking me what the speaker is saying.

More, More!! Enjoying every tidbit. Especially enjoyed your descriptions and photos of Paradise Island~~haven't been there for 25+ years...(now I am dating myself, lol). I'm glad I had much younger legs to walk around on.:rotfl: It did not seem bad at all back then. It was beautiful then, and that was before all this extra development of hotel humungioso. I'd love to see it again. A good excuse to talk dh into a cruise...

Love your review! I hope to be able to take a Disney cruise with the family one of these years.

Thank you, I'm thrilled to see more people leaving comments. :)

I'm sending lotsa pixie dust your way pixiedust: that you and your family will enjoy a Disney Cruise soon!

:welcome: And thank you! You have alot of catching up to do (Page 4) I'm so glad you like what you have read so far!

As for driving to the parks, well DH and I decided when we planned the trip that a rental car would be our best option because we also stayed off Disney property for a bit and we also liked the freedom a rental gives you. We like to explore and sight see and you can't do that with Disney transportation. We are the kind of people who like to come and go as we please at the exact moment we decide to so in a way we kinda boycotted Disney transportation and I don't think on any of our return trips we will use it either. For us renting a car is the way to go. Oh and let me tell you what a delight it was not having to stand with the crowds at the end of the day waiting for a bus back to your resort and hoping you would get on that one. :thumbsup2

I'm thrilled that you don't like when people recite the words on rides either, I thought I was the only one being bratty about that. :rolleyes1

i have another trip report that i am addicted to! great! can't wait for more

Yay for your addiction! :woohoo:  :thumbsup2

So glad to have you onboard.

Patience is a virtue ya know. :lmao:

Younger legs would have been much help but I did realize that I need to start working out otherwise I just might die on our return trip. I have to get my body in Disney World shape! :rotfl2:

Try talking your DH into the 4 day cruise on Oct 31, 2010, then we could meet up and say HI  :thumbsup2

I can't stand when people recite the words to HM...drives me CRAZY..But I am SOOOO loving your TR!!! Can't wait to see more but I know you're busy..so take your time.

I fell in love with the little train setup they had, I thought it was really cute and took lots of pictures of it.

Then I fell in love with this sign and I asked everybody around DH and I if they would take a picture of us under it and would you believe nobody would and most of the people I asked just ignored me. Talk about crabby people. I gave up finally and just took a picture of it.

Ok, now I'm on page 5 :) (and I do have to comment on everything, sorry! :) ). I love the train setup! One of my favorite memories is from our last trip (which happened to be the week after you were there) just standing there for almost 2 hours watching the little lizards all over the train track. We were laughing like crazy people at the lizards standing on the track like they were playing chicken with the train.

I can't believe no one would take your picture! What is wrong with people?!?
