How is the pool in December? Is there a hot tub for me and the kids can go in or are they all for adults only? What if we stay on the ship while the rest go off shore, the hot tub is empty, do you think they will let us?

What if you didn't like the food you ordered, can you ask for a different dish? Is there a limit to how much you can order from the menu? Are the buffet/snack bars open 24 hrs?

Thanks!

Welcome! Hopefully these answers will help:
1) There are hot tubs by the family pool that you will be able to enjoy with the kids. The hot tubs in the adult area are for adults only, even if they would be empty otherwise (we have seen the rules enforced at the empty or almost-empty adult pool). But you should have no problem at less crowded times in the family area.

2) No limit on food! Be daring (many servers will even encourage it), as they will gladly replace a dish you don't like. The food service outlets are not 24 hours, but room service can be ordered all night.

I don't know anything about the family pool as being sans children we never went anywhere near it. However, the food:

If you do not like the food you ordered, they will be more than happy to give you another dish. There is no limit to what they will give you. Quite frequently, if I felt like being 'experimental' with something, i would order that as well as something I knew I would like just in case. Our servers learned very early how to serve our table. We would order a dessert each, and they would also bring one of every dessert 'for the table' so that everyone could have a taste of everything without anyone having to give up a part of their own dessert.
Food service is not 24 hours. The dining rooms and buffet are open at 'meal times'. The poolside food places are open much of the day. Late at night there's room service, and when we took our cruise in May of 2003 there were two midnight buffets, one dessert and one that was a sort of general light meal. I know one of the most constant 'if only's I hear about Disney Cruises is more latenight food. But I'd have to say that even though I'm a night person, I never felt "Hey, I'm hungry, and I can't find any food."

Thank you Barb and Footnotegirl for the infos! :)

Just curious, how is the pool in Dec? Will it be too cold to swim? Is the family pool heated? I'm just glad that there is a hot tub by the family pool for us to use just in case it is a bit too cold to be in the pool.

One more question...Does it get cold in the restaurants? I know some restaurants get pretty cold where I have to order coffee just to keep me warm.

Thank you!! Can't wait to go on our first cruise!!

Since I get cold easily even when others are comfortable, I take a sweater or light wrap with me everywhere. That goes for on the ship too. We have cruised in September and October not December, but I would still plan each outfit so that it could be worn with something on my arms or without. Flexibility!

Have a super time,
Jan :earsgirl:

Pools are fresh water and ARE heated. We cruised in Jan and were able to swim, no problem.

We have taken 3 cruises in Dec, one in Jan and one in Feb, and the weather and water have been great, both on the ship and at the ports. You will have a great time!:sunny:

Do bring a sweater or light shawl, especialy if you get chilly easily. In December they probably heat things, but I found Lumiere's a bit chilly on Formal Night (sleeveless dress), and the movie theater can be like the arctic, and that was in May.

We swam both on the ship and at each port in January. No problems with water temps. It may depend on where you are from though and what you are used to. Kids shouldn't have any problems.
