Our first stay at SSR...what to expect?

Thanks so much for the information. I am really starting to doubt the CM's recommendations. Oh well, we do really enjoy walking and are not going into the parks this trip. So I guess it really doesn't matter.

I will admit that we don't spend much time at the main building at all. But, you say you are walkers, so walking each morning to the main building shouldn't take that long. I certainly didn't think it was 15 minutes, more like 5, maybe 10. And, if you do want to go to the main building and not take that walk, then get on ANY bus (except DTD) and ride to the Springs. Springs is the next stop after Congress Park. We did this many times. Then from the Springs you can walk or you can take the bus to the park you want to visit. If you are wanting to go back to your room, you can take the DTD bus. That route goes in reverse. I don't think the CM told you wrong. You want a view of DTD and CP is the best area for that.

I had to hop on and say something because last year we stayed at SSR and this year is our first trip to OKW--we might be able to REALLY help each other out because I have the same questions about OKW!!! We liked SSR as a whole--the pool is great, the resort is decorated very elegantly, and the views are beautiful and serene. We also ate at the Turf Club and had one of the best meals of our entire trip. The biggest downfall we felt dealt with the resort's size--it is SO big! I think because the resort is so large, we often had issues with the buses. We stood a lot, and often had to wait through several buses to get on both at the resort and at the parks. We stayed in The Springs area (3500 Bldg.) looking out over the lake. It was a very short walk to the bus and main pool. I hope that helps you out with info on SSR--any comments/suggestions about OKW are greatly appreciated! Thanks

I'm not sure how helpful I can be concerning OKW. Last year was our first time staying there and we didn't really browse the resort like we had hoped to. We would have done that this trip, but OKW was unavailable on short notice. We stayed in the Turtle Pond section, which has its own pool (that we didn't use). I believe we were the 3rd bus stop, so we usually had a seat. We really liked this resort, especially the size of our 2BR unit. I'm not sure what accommodations you need, but I could not believe how much room we had. We were on the top floor (with no elevator), but we had a nice view of a pond and wooded area. I'm guessing the walk to the main pool, front desk, etc. would have been 10-15 minutes from where we were. Sorry I could not be of more help.
