Our first stay at Fort Wilderness Cabins, We leave Saturday 6/20!

hehe... Yeah, that's what I figured. When I lived in Hawaii, we use to get something called Maka(spelling is most likely wrong, as it is Hawaiian) showers. Which meant a nice little shower about mid day that cooled everything off. <shrug> I know Florida is one of those states that gets a few showers here and there, and I think makes it muggier instead of cooling everything off, but I'll be happy to be out of Ohio for a while.

Thanks for the pep talk on the weather as well. :)

No problem :)

And that rain can come out of nowhere. We once took a boat out on the lake in full sun and a clear sky. Before the hour was up the patrol was making everyone get off the lake because a storm was coming. We barely made it back to the Poly dock before the sky opened up.

About an hour later, it was sunny again :)

This happens all the time.

Does anyone know where you can use Disney Gift Cards? I have been buying them when they are on sale, and I was thinking of using them to pay for our character meal if I could. I know it's a pain to hand a bunch of $ 25 gift cards to pay for something, but if I can do it then I would be happy.

Just charge to your room via your magic band. Keep in mind that you should go to the front desk to pay every few days or they will charge your credit card. They can reverse the charges and use your gift cards, but it's just easier to stop in an give them a bunch. Your charge limit at the cabins will be $1000 before they charge your credit card.

Or you can use them to pay for just about anything on property. Use them as you would a credit card or cash.

I have a stack of them as well. I used a bunch to pay in advance my entire room charge, and still have a bundle to pay off our incidentals charges, which will include paying for the golf cart and anything else I charge to my room. I've also used the cards to pay for a tour.

IF you haven't left yet, you may want to call and pay toward your room. In some cases the automated system will allow you to type in the card number, in others, you'll have to speak to a cast member. At least you won't be walking around with a pile of cards. My room is fully paid for as is the tour. The rest will go toward the golf cart and any other charges I may have. In other words, my vacation is already paid for :) I still have a large pile, but it's not nearly as big as it was :)

Good Idea. We leave on Saturday morning, and I already preregistered, but that is a great idea if I can do it.

Thanks!

It may take a while on the phone, but it will be easier on you going forward. Make sure you have the entire card number scratched off before you get on the phone. I believe the are 4 digits under that grey scratch off stuff.

Called and loaded some cards, not all but some of them. We have all the cloths packed and ready to go. I just need to hope the rain holds off, so I can get the Rainex on my windows.

Also - My wife figured that this week would be the perfect week to repaint our bathroom, so I have to hang a mirror in the bathroom today, since she just ripped out all of our wainscoting and chair rail and repainted the bathroom. So now we are putting up a larger mirror, which is nice but the night before we leave, really? I have had to shave by looking at a mirror propped up on the floor. That is not easy to do.. <sigh>

I called Disney and added First Time buttons to my three girls as this is the first time staying onsite. And I also, had them add a 21st Birthday Button for my 71 year old mom.

I have to say, I have had to get at least 5 different people to cover for me at work, and I think I have everything covered, so once I leave today I am going to ignore work for a whole week.

RMColosimo, how did your trip go? Trying to decide if I should switch my PO FQ reservation to a FW Cabin for this November.

Yes, yes you should! Do know if you create your own post with your considerations we will gladly persuade you in the direction of the fort!

You know what, I think I'm going to take you up on that! :)

We loved it. It was perfect for our group size, and allowed us to cook our own meals.

There were six of us in the group, me, my wife, our three daughters and my mother.

If you have an specific questions, I would love to answer them for you, feel free to message me, or just post here. :)
