........and we really like the resort. I'm with one of my DD's for this trip. We really enjoy the resort. It is a very relaxing resort. I thought OKW was relaxing (our home resort) but this is quieter & more serene than OKW.

My DH has always had reservations about wanting to stay here but I think he'll love it!

Which part of SSR are you staying at? When the 7-month window opens for our April 2012 trip, my wife and I are planning on switching from BLT to SSR. However, we can't decide which section of SSR to request. We might not put in a request and just let fate decide for us.

We are in the Grandstand area.

It doesn't seem like they give the buildings "numbers", although our floor number is 88 & we are on the fourth floor. :confused3

Floor one is floor #85, then #86, #87 & we are #88. The other "8" building has floors 81, 82, 83 & 84. This building that we are in is right next to the quiet pool & very close to the main check in building where Artist's Palette & the main pool is.........no more than a 5 minute walk.

It's actually a great location. Close to a bustop also, which is on the other side of the quiet pool.

BTW - the quiet pool is very nice. It has a bar & they serve snacks & some light sandwiches.

I also think SSR seems a little quieter than OKW, and I was finally able to put my finger on it. At OKW the villas are really close to the main roads as well as the walkways. you really notice the bus traffic especially if you are walking around the resort a lot (as our family does). At SSR the villas are set pretty far back from the main road (in most cases). The walkways are even more removed which makes for a more relaxing, quieter experience. Of course you get much larger villas at OKW so I think it is a fair trade. I check in to OKW in 10 days!

SHHHHHHH....no, it's a bad resort! No one wants to book there. It's too big...to remote (I want the ability to do short term bookings so keep your mouth shut) ;)

We really liked it for our first stay. We were close to DTD and there was a bus stop in our parking lot. I think it had just opened.

Since then, not so much. I was there solo once and was at least two buildings a way from a bus stop. In the heat, at night, not so fun.

Luck of the draw, I guess. Rooms are very nice and beds are comfy!

We stayed at the THV there this year for the first time and we really enjoyed. We walked around SSR a good bit and found it super relaxing. DH and DDad really liked that it felt "removed" and not in the middle of all the hub-dub.

We'll probably plan another trip there next year at some point. (I think we'll have some points left over that we can make another trip after our January trip. I hope!)

I'm glad you're having such a grand time! I think SSR is lovely.

I can appreciate that.

DD & I are headed out for a "resort walk" right now!

Returned from our walk for breakfast in our room. It's an absolutely beautiful resort.

What I think is great is that it seems as though The Carriage House is located in the center of the resort, whereas at OKW the Hospitality House is more central to the front of the resort.

I don't mind walking at all to get to the main building, but if you are in certain areas at OKW it is a real hike to the Hospitality House. It's not the walking sometimes, it's just the time it would take to get there. If you don't have a car (which we usually do anyway) it can be a hassle to get to the main building, whether you decide to walk or wait for a bus.

I'm with you on this. ;)

OP, glad you're enjoying it. We liked SSR a lot as well.

We were at OKW for our last stay - dh wanted to try it again....he liked it from our early DVC visits, mostly on cash.

While we do love the extra space at OKW, we live the feel of SSR better. We also much prefer Artist Palette to any of the quick service places we've tried at any of the resorts.

I have OKW booked again for our last visit, but I think I am going to try to call and switch.....nothing like going HOME. :cool1:

Really glad to hear that you like ssr. Hope you and your dd are having fun;) I cannot wait to try it next month. I am sooo excited!!

Happy to hear you are enjoying it!! We love SSR and always request the Grandstand!
