I am trying to pick a week in October that my family and in-laws can go to Disney and experience Halloween themed fun. Do you think any Sat-Sat stay would have at least one NSSHP? Any week better than others for crowds? My other question is how likely or unlikely do you think it would be for us to get a week at BCV/BWV/VWL or SSR? We are owners at SSR. Thanks so much!! This is my first question!!:yay:

Well according to what I've seen (as released by at least one AAA agent and Intercot I think) the dates for this year are: Sept 14,21,28, Oct 4,5,8,11,12,14,16,18,21,23,25,26,28,30,31.

We're going to SSR Oct 14-20 so I'm planning on the 16th for our party. Haven't decided on a costume yet though.

Getting ressies at SSR shouldn't be a problem now. BCV & BWV will be tough (a waitlist involved) because it's Food & Wine Festival at Epcot. VWL is the smallest resort so I'd guess it'd be booked too. But you can stay at SSR and just as easily bus to the park.

I'd avoid Halloween weekend since that's when most locals go. Also Fridays for the same reason (and you'd hate yourself the next morning when you tried to get up and pack after a late night at MK).

October can be a very busy time to book a DVC resort without the 11 month window advantage. You have Food and Wine going on, as well as the MNSSHP's of course.

If you are somewhat flexible in your dates and type of room you are seeking, you will have the best shot at getting something at those resorts then. Good luck!

This will be our first MNSSHP too! We will be at SSR from Oct 29-Nov 7. Has anyone heard yet when tickets will be available? Do DVC members get the chance to buy advance tickets before the public? What is the best way to purchase tickets? Should we call Member Services to get them?

Thanks!!!

Thank you for all the helpful info...:thumbsup2 I am sure anywhere we stay we will be happy. We have never stayed at BCV or SSR we have stayed at the other two and know we like those!! Do most families dress up or mostly children? My in-laws went with us years ago before DS so we want to go again with both kiddo's and them! I know they will enjoy the extra DVC benifits. Does Food and Wine get less busy in November? We often go in Nov and it never seems to busy to us. Our last trip it was food and wine, soap opera weekend, veterens day and the first Very Merry party! It was a wonderful week in the world...

Does anyone know if the adults dress in costume too for MNSSHP?

It'll be my first F/W festival and Halloween also.

They are usually available around the 30th of April each year--so they should be available real soon!
You can purchase them on-line, too (when the link becomes available. :) ).

Some adults dress in costume, many do not.

Yeah, the party poopers. :sad2:

Personally I think you have more fun when you all dress up. It loosens things up and everyone has an easy topic of conversation.

But costumes vary from the ornate pirates & princesses to the sublime "This is my costume" t-shirt.

If you like wearing costumes, you won't feel out of place. If you don't, then you'll just admire those who do.

Whatever you do, make sure the costume is conducive to going on rides. No trailing capes and stilletto heels that could cause a hazard for you on your favorite rides.

If you do a search, there are alot of threads here on the DIS regarding MNSSHP. Have fun! We went last year-3rd week in October, mid-week and it was wonderful. Walked right onto rides and got loads of candy. If you decide to join the fun and wear a costume, just remember it can still get really hot in October!

We've done the MNSCHP (or whatever the initials are) twice now and really enjoyed them both (more than the xmas one) Just my two cents, but I would stay away from Columbus weekend, Halloween weekend and go to the party that is scheduled your week but not on a Friday or Saturday - very crowded with locals on the weekend.

:thumbsup2

We've gone to MNSSHP twice now, and had an awesome time twice. The adults dressed up the first time, but we didn't feel like packing all those costumes the second time so just the kids dressed up that time.

The best advice is to avoid weekends. We went in late October last year, and there were a lot of threads complaining about how crowded the party was. We were nervous, but most of the complainers seemed to have gone on the weekend and we were going on a Tuesday (I think). So we went, and it wasn't crowded at all. We got an enormous amount of candy, and towards the end of the night all the rides were walk-ons. In fact, BTMRR is the favorite of one of the kids and she rode it seven consecutive times without getting off!

And as a bonus, the weekday tickets were being sold at a discount.
