Our First Mother-Daughter Trip, Pre-Trip Report!

Our First Mother-Daughter Trip... Ever!​

Welcome to my second pre-trip report! Just about a week ago, I said to my mom, "Hey, I'm on winter break for another three weeks... let's go to Disney World!" Imagine my surprise when she said, "Okay!" I was more than shocked, I had not even imagined that she would even consider it! ​

Once I got over my shock stage, we started to plan! This is my first winter break as a freshman in college, so I had 3 more weeks to kill... what better place to go than Walt Disney World?! We decided our dates based off of the airline we usually use (they run Mondays and Fridays). Next we decided our hotel based off of the current promotion (Stay, Play, Dine!). Then we chose our parks and so on! ​

Unfortunately, my little brother is still in high school, so he wouldn't be able to come, which I am sad about My dad has gone with us to Disney so many times, he wasn't too upset about not going. So, let's jump right in with introductions!​

I'm Katie, otherwise known as the Disney freak in my family

I am 19 years old and have been going to Disney World since I was just 2 years old! This will be my 12th trip to the World. I am most excited for this trip because I have never been to Disney in an off season... only in the summer. This will be a completely new experience for me! ​

Next up is my mom, Betsy!

My mom is the person who started my love for Disney, though I have since then surpassed her love for all things Disney She is such an amazing person and I am so lucky to have her! I wouldn't want to share this trip with anyone else! ​

What, When, Where, Why! (And Day 1 Plans)​

Here are some of the details for our mother-daughter trip!​

What: A Mother-Daughter Trip
When: January 13th-17th 2014
Where: Pop Century Resort
Why: Because Disney World is the best ​

One bit of exciting news, we get to use Magic Bands! This will be our first time having Magic Bands so we are very, very excited! Anyways, we're leaving Wisconsin at 10:50 am on January 13th and should be arriving in Orlando at 2:20 pm. Unfortunately our airline doesn't fly into MCO. So, we're flying into Sanford Airport. We're renting a car and driving to Pop Century! ​

We should get there around 3:30 or 4 pm. Oh, and I forgot to mention something important, we're using the Disney Dining Plan! When we get there we're going to eat at the food court, I can't wait to try the tie-dye cheesecake After that, we're going to Downtown Disney for the night. After we shop for a while, we have an ADR for....... OHANA!! I am beyond excited because I have never eaten there!!!!! Our reservation is very late, 9:40 pm, so we may have to drive the rental car as MK closes at 9pm that night...so we won't be able to catch a bus back to Pop. So many great things, and it's only our first day ​

Day 2 Plans​

On January 14th, we'll be going to Epcot!

We decided not to use the Fastpass+ with our magic bands because the timing for our choices wasn't very convenient. We're hoping the crowds will be low enough that we won't have to worry too much. There are Extra Magic Hours that morning, but I don't know that we'll need to use them, hoping the crowds won't be overwhelming!! We're just planning to enjoy a relaxed, no-rushed day here! Our only plans are an ADR for dinner at 5:30pm at the Rose & Crown Pub and Dining Room in England! We've never been here, but I've read lots of good reviews. My mom did not stay for Illuminations on our last trip, so we'll for sure be watching that! I can't wait to spend the day at Epcot, without all the rushing and running back and forth ​

Day 3 Plans​

Today we're going to Magic Kingdom!!!!!

I am so excited for this day, Magic Kingdom is my all time favorite park Today we're actually going to be using Fastpass+. Our ride selections are Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Peter Pan!! Yay, I can't wait! Today we'll just be enjoying the magic of the park I'm hoping that we'll be able to go to Be Our Guest for lunch. I've been there, but my mom hasn't, so I'd love to show her how special it is! We also have an ADR for dinner at 4:25 Liberty Tree Tavern! This is another new restaurant for us... actually, all of the restaurants this trip are new for us! I'm excited for the family style dinner, it should be delicious! My mom also missed Wishes last time, so I am looking forward to watching it with her, preferably with a Dole Whip in hand

I can't wait! 8 more days until I leave ​

Day 3 Plans​

On our third, and last day, we are just going to resort hop! My mom and I love going to Disney resorts, especially the deluxe and DVD resorts! I'm hoping to visit the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, and the Grand Floridian!! That's a really long list now that I think about it, but hopefully we'll be able to hit most of them We're going to end with Grand Floridian because... we have a dinner ADR at 1900 Park Fare! I am so excited (I know I've said that a lot) for this meal, and it's a character meal too! Bonus ​

After dinner, we will probably go back to Downtown Disney for some last minute shopping Unfortunately, our flight is at 7:50 am the next morning, so we won't be able to stay out super late. At least we'll have the rental car so we don't have to wait for the Magical Express at 4 in the morning! ​

Thanks for reading my short and spontaneous pre-trip report! One week from now I'll be on my way to the Poly for dinner at Ohana! I can't wait!​
