This is our 13 day saga of our first extended trip to WDW.

DH (Patrick) - 42 - hates lines, looking forward to Richard Petty DE!
Me (Jacquelyn) - 41 - compulsive planner, constantly explaining ins and outs of WDW to DH
DS1 (Ryan) 8 to be 9 July 11 "Thing 1" constant questioner
DS2 (Jonathan) 7yo "Thing 2" constant whiner

After working a 10hr shift we leave Atlanta by 7pm on July 3rd. We made good time down but still did not arrive at the Hilton Grand Vacation Club (adjacent to Sea World) till 2am! I'm glad at this point we decided to do all of our stay here! We are about a 15min drive to the WDW areas.

By 7am I'm up and ready to get to MGM to activate our PAP's. We finally get breakfast at McD's and get to the park area by about 8:45. I'm trying to get the kids and DH the biscuits, eat myself, consult the PassPorter while DH is asking me "Which Way?". We missed the sign to MGM and ended up almost back to 535 when I realized the PassPorter had a very detailed map on the flaps! This directed us back to MGM and got us to the parking lot (after a couple of un-Disney moments!) We activated our PAP's w/o any problems and we were in the park by 9:30. Got FP for TOT and rode the GMR w/ no wait. My 7yo DS loved this and wanted to do it again. Got FP for RRC at begining of FP hour for TOT. Had 5min wait to TOT (DH loved this!) We enjoyed our TOT ride! I actually got the penny to "spin" in front of me on the 4th drop!! (my first Disney Magic moment!) DS's loved this and "wanted to do it again"! I kept reminding them we would be back later and lets move on to something new! Somewhere around New York street is a old pharmacy store front that says "Prescriptions while you wait". Since I'm a pharmacist I had my pic taken pointing to the sign about 10 yrs ago when DH (boyfriend at the time) went and wanted another one again. Thing 1 & 2 decided they couldn't behave and got into a scuffle. We did finally get the pic. The Green Army men came around on their truck. How do they talk with the stocking face and walk in those shoes?? DS1's misbehavior kept him out of the HISTK playground. We got a "popcorn" lunch and got FP's to Millionare (2 hrs ahead!) We did Back lot tour and ST before getting to Millionare. We had the same problem of "professional" players, with the host even joking with the contestant on how many pins he had and could sell off! I think they should limit this to one hot seat apperance per day, just like the one call/day you get for the network show. Did see Tigger and Pooh in front of the trailers. On the way out we got Jessies, Rafiki's, Timon's autograph! My autograph "notebook" consist of clipart of the characters in the corner of the page so the character has the whole page to sign on! They "point" to their Pic and ask me my name!(well, point to me and hold thier hands out!) Wearing my DIS pin (my name in baby beads) and my PassPorter pin makes this easy!!

We leave to go back to HGVC to get our rest of stay room assignment. It's not to my DH's liking so we get them to change it. We stay on the 1st floor (no elevators, but more bugs!) and are very pleased with our 1br condo w/ jacuzzi tub for 2!! This is our 1st "club points" stay here. It has a washer/dryer combo and full kitchen, fold out queen sofa w/ a big screen TV w/ DVD,VCR and 3 Disc stereo. Screen in patio (YEA!) King bed/TV in 1st br w/ large bathroom w/ stand up shower and long vanity. Plenty of room for all of us!

We head back to MK and take the Monorail to the Poly. We didn't want to chance parking there because of the July 4th restrictions. We have PS's for 9pm at OHanas in hopes we will get to see the fireworks. We get there by 7:15pm and check in, knowing it will be a while. Browsed the shops and found some Tigger earrings on sale!! Bought 2 pair! and a large
Tigger head pin, all less than $10! We get to the bar area and get some drinks/snacks. By 15 till 9pm I'm getting nervous that we will not be seated by 9pm! At 10 till they lit our pager and we were seated in a table next to the window table, on the "clear view' side!!! We got our bread just before the fire works went off! What a spectacular site!! The fireworks were perimiter (both sides of MK). Since we sit at the Side of the castle we see 'double' sets of fireworks! With all the patriotic music piped in, it was another "magic" moment for me! The whole restaurant stood up to sing the star spangled banner! (tears in my eyes!) After this, we get down to eating the "tray" items. LOVE the sweet & sour dressing salad and the wings. The Dumplings are good too! DS1 loves the Mango sauce! We get to the skewers of pork/steak/turkey/shrimp! Like the shrimp the best! I love the hawaiian feel of the Poly where every one says "Aloha" and "Mahalo", just like they did when we visited Ohau last Nov. The kids did the coconut race and then we got the pineapple and caramel sauce. YUMMMMM!!! By this time we have to "roll" out to our car for the short drive to the Hilton.

After all, a good first day!:sunny:

How were those dumplings....my most favorite thing to eat ......thanks for the start of your report....

You're making me hungry & lonely for WDW! What's the deal with the spinning penny, never heard of that one!

Thanks for posting!

Hi neighbor (I'm in Acworth). Great report. Look forward to the rest of the "saga".

Are you coming to the DIS Meet on July 28 in Kennesaw? The Community Board has a post about it.

On TOT, I've read where folks take a penny in hand on the ride. On the 3rd and 4th "drop" when the doors to the outside open you place the penny in your cupped hands. You can watch the penny float in front of you as you drop. My penny dropped in my lap after drop #3 and on Drop #4 it was flipping end over end in front of me (I used a shiny new one and it was a cool sight!). The ride pic caught us in the act! :earseek:

Just another neat thing to do at WDW!!
