Omg- I was just on AllEars.Net and they had some interesting news.
One- The Electric Light Parade is coming back this summer and replacing SpectroMagic. There will also be another fireworks show replacing Wishes
Two- They are EXPANDING Fantasyland- groundbreaking 2010-2013. Ok, here is the worst part---- they are getting rid of Toontown totally. I was soooo upset when I read this because Austin loved the littled houses of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy's barnstormer, etc. Now all we have is pictures to look at from our last trip :-(. So from reading, this is what I gathered. They are doing this expansion because of the new Harry Potter thing at Universal- to keep in competition. Toontown is closing, and the characters are being moved to Expo. Hall for the meet and greets. Dumbo is expanding and becoming two levels (to my understanding to accommodate more guests at a time because it is sooo popular). There is also going to be a big top tent with different things in it, and goofys barnstormer will stay, but will have a Timothy theme from Dumbo. Pooh's playful spot is being refurbished and with have a hundred acre woods for a meet and greet (I think I read that right). They will be creating different areas for each of the princesses, including some kind of new ride for the Little Mermaid. The new Pixie Hollow will be the final phase, and that will be finished by 2013. I have also heard that the walt disney railroad will be closed for a few months. I have read that they have already started groundbreaking, but stuff wouldn't start to close till fall- but you can't belive EVERYTHING you read.
So, i don't think Fantasyland will be shut down during our visit guys- the area they are working on would be toontown and pooh's playful spot and beyond. My guess is that there may be screens there so you cannot see what is going on. Dumbo will probably stay for a while until it has to be moved. Remember, this is a 3 year expansion, so I can't see nearly all this stuff being shut down while we there- as we are all going very early on.
Although I am VERY disappointed about Toontown closing (still hoping we'll be able to see it one last time in September), I think the new Princess land's will be an exciting edition to Fantasyland. The funny part is, it will just give me an excuse of not to rush another trip, and maybe hold off about 2 years when everything is finished!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am, however, excited to see the Mainstreet Electric Lights Parade is returning. I seen that when I was about 7. And I am sure whatever fireworks spectacular that they will choose- this is Disney- it will be a great one
