Our Family's 2nd Trip to Disney World-Pre-Trippie

My prayers are definitely with you, Janine!!! Thank God this one is missing Maine altogether! Believe me, we've already had our share, but I really feel bad for you!!! I'm glad you got all your groceries and that Bill is safe and sound for the night. They said you would have to measure the storm in feet this time around. I know what you are going through!!! Make sure you have your flashlights (with batteries) and fill up some jugs with water......(yeah, can you tell I've been through the no power thing before????;) ) Look at it this way--- if the power goes out, none of your food will spoil as you can just take it out of the fridge and throw it in the snow!!!! Ok, so I'm trying to make you laugh....is it working????

I think I'm going to head to bed. I am finally (knock on wood) starting to feel better and I finally got enough energy up to clean the animal cages. They were getting stinky after a week of not being cleaned. Did I mention the one hamster, 8 rabbits and 5 guinea pigs I have??? Does Austin need a new pet? How about 13 of them??? :lmao:

I will say a few prayers for you guys in the snow. I am from the southern most part of Louisiana and we don't know what snow is down here. When our temp gets below 40 degrees, we panick.

Stay Warm

I am here in southern new jersey, its really snowing now!! Its been a long winter.

Woo hoo- thats where we are too!!!!!!! Yeah it has been a long winter- and I thought that storm back in December was bad. That wasn't even a blizzard!!!! This stuff is just plain awful. That is two funny- you will be coming to wdw when I am leaving!

I used to love snow as a child. You know, getting out of school, ice skating, all that good stuff. But I have grown to despise it since I have to travel to work in it (which is about a good half an hour away). I always say, that is I didn't have family here I would've long moved my butt to Florida!!!

Thanks BelleTinkMom!!!!!! I love the warm weather and cannot wait for the spring/summer to get here.

Ok guys, well I made it through my first night of this blizzard nonsense with Bill trapped in the city at work. I got to sleep around 11pm and woke up around 12:00am with a really bad stomachache. I took some tums and went back to sleep- and did not wake up until after 7am. I got up and looked out my window and all I saw was white!!!!!! Around 11am I bundled up and shoveled a path off of my patio to my car, and then dug around my car as best as I could-luckily it didn't feel that cold out, and the winds had calmed down. Well, after 1pm all hell broke loose (as forecasted) and when I went back out after 2pm to shovel everything again, I nearly froze :scared1:!!!!! The winds were blowing so hard, and it was soooo cold it felt like there was needles going through my face. I was like "Forget this!" and went back in the house. We have been under a State of Emergency since around 9am this morning, and there are tons of power outages. My grandma's house being one of them- Thank god she has a fireplace, and her brother and his wife (my aunt and uncle) live acrossed the street from her, and keep bringing her wood to keep her house warm. Both times I have shoveled, I walked back in the house looking like the Yeti from EE :rotfl2:!!!!! Unfortunately, no one is allowed on the roads, so Bill is not coming home again- luckily this mess is supposed to stop around 7pm tonight!!!!

Hey girl....How did you make it through??? I hope by now the winds have calmed and you are shoveled out. Is Bill coming home today?? I hope so for you!!

Hang in there Janine!! I hope you are doing okay surviving the second night. At least your DH is safe and sound, even though he is stuck at work! Hopefully you are getting lots of time to spend on DIS :disrocks:

Wow, some blizzard! How is everyone today?

We made it through the awful blizzard !!!!!! Thanks for thinking of us guys- it really means alot to know that you have dis buddies that care :cloud9:.

Sorry I didn't post sooner- I had sooooo much shoveling to do!!!!! I got stuck in my driveway sooo many times :scared1:!!!!!! Bill came home right before the Super Bowl started last night, and Austin wanted to spend the night at my Grandmom's house. So, it was just me, Bill, and the Superbowl. I made honey bbq chicken fingers, steak fries, and steam in a bag buttery corn (try this stuff it is awesome!!!) and we sat in front of the tv with a big blanket on us and watched it. Well, I watched the commercials and the half time show and ate because I am not a football fan. Was it me, or was that half-time show stinky :confused3????? Ok, here is my thing, if you are going to get a nostalgic band :hippie:- get some one that still sounds half decent like Pink Floyd or Aerosmith. That was one of the worst half time shows ever!!!!

Ok, I am back in business here!!!!! Although we still have well over 2 feet of snow here, I went to work today, and the roads are pretty much clear. The bad part is, there is another Nor'Easter heading our way Tuesday night, and we are supposed to get 6-12 inches!!!!! Now, NJ usually has like a couple of inches here and there throughout the winter, nothing big. This will be our 3rd major snowstorm (counting the one towards the end of December '09). Sooooooo sick of snow !!!!!

On a brighter note :wizard:, I made some t-shirts tonight!!!!! I bought our first set of tshirts yesterday from AC Moore's after I dropped Austin off at my Grandma's house. I bought a white one for each of us, although, I am pissed because I just noticed that Austin's has something on the collar, so I have to hunt for the receipt to exchange it. I did make Bill and I's though- so much fun!!!! It is a picture of an airplane with Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy in it, flying over WDW and it says "We're on our way to Disney World" on it!!!!! It is adorable, we are going to be wearing those our flight down!!!!!

For all of you's that have made tshirts before- (ahem Pam and Karen heheheheh) do you prewash them- because I did not. I wanted the material to look new when we wore them. Not that it matters- we will wear each one once in Disney, and probably around the house once we get back if they fade.
Just wondering.

and here I thought I was sick of snow! Well, I am, but I would just have to curl up and die if we had THAT much! :p I'm ready for spring!

Well, I washed some of our shirts, but some I didn't and I never noticed a difference! BUT, I used amymickey's transfers (amymickey.com) and her transfers are really good quality and last a long while. I've heard not-so-good things about regular transfers. Either way, at least they will look crisp and brand new the first time you wear them! ;)

Thats all I care about- that they look good when we first wear them- I can always clean or garden or something in them when we get back:laundy:

Yeah!!! Janine posted. I was getting kind of worried about you!!!! I saw on the news that more snow is headed your way. Again, it look like Maine will miss it.

So I've been playing around with a bunch of QS restaurants again. Those marked with *'s I really want to do.

Downtown Disney-
Earl of Sandwich*
Wolfgang Puck Express*
I have heard great things about both of these QS restaraunts- so I would really like to try them both. I would also like to stop at Goofy's Candy Co. for a snack.

Animal Kingdom-
(S) Camp Soft Serve*
Flametree BBQ*
Have heard wonderful things about Flametree BBQ, and I would like to treat Austin to some ice cream that day- and maybe a float or cone for Mommy and Daddy!

Hollywood Studios-
Toy Story Pizza Planet*
Austin was almost 3 when we ate here- doubt he remembers it, but he loves Toy Story, and recognizes the Pizza Planet in the movie. Bill and I loved it when we were there last, so this is a must for us.

Epcot-
Electric Umbrella(FW)
We are not really fans of eating strange things, so I think we will fit right in here or at Sunshine Seasons. Probably here though.

Magic Kingdom-
(S) Aloha Isle*
(S) Mainstreet Bakery*
El Pirata y El Perico*
Pecos Bill*
Cosmic Ray's*
On a mission to try a Citrus Swirl at Aloha Isle. Mainstreet Bakery is a must do- I have seen pics of their pastries and cakes and they look DELICIOUS!
I loved El Pirata y El Perico's last trip- if we get in the mood for tacos, we will come here. However, they are open seasonally (probably still in Sept.), and I really would like to get in Pecos Bill's and Cosmic Ray's this trip.

Pop Century Food Court (some snack credits for breakfast, some lunch or dinners here)
What's not to like abour the Pop food court?

We are going to have a total of 30 snack credits to use between us. We have an advantage because the first day we will be getting there around 9pm. I planned on grabbing a quick dinner on the road beforehand, so if we eat anything at the resort this night, it will probably be a snack credit. That way, we will have an extra snack credit and 2 cs meals to use (which we will probably use our last day).

I think I am pretty set on these choices- but who knows, they may change too (not much though).

Hey there fellow insomniac!!! I just can't sleep tonight. I hate nights like that. So, your plans look good. I've been to the Earl of Sandwich which I absolutely love! Also been to Pizza Planet and Cosmic Ray's -- both of which are good. I like the arcade atmosphere of Pizza Planet. I still haven't made solid plans with the restaurants. Like all of us going in September, I am just waiting and waiting for the hours to come out! Ugh! It doesn't look like your state is getting too much snow this time around --- more in the RI/Mass areas, huh? At this point ANY snow is TOO MUCH!!!

Hey Ann!

Thanks for the input on the QS's. I think we will definitely be doing all 3. Some people think that you are just confined to Pizza and chicken nuggets on the QSDP- but if you plan and choose carefully, you can eat a wide variety of meals!.

I think we were quoted at 6-12 inches- however, it is supposed to reach blizzard like conditions again, and the winds with this storm and snow drifts are supposed to be much more intense. In fact, they closed our whole accounting dept tomorrow (maybe thursday too- depending on the roads)- so I get to stay home with Bill and Austin (Bill is off wed-thurs's, and I am off sat-sun's). So I am going to have a lazy day DISing!!!
